The chateau is beautiful, photos do not do it justice. It is more impressive in real life. The building, the staircase, the grounds, all are beautiful. The rooms are very spacious. The breakfast was fresh and delicious. An atmosphere of calm prevails throughout. Old beautiful with modern amenities such as a reliable lift and efficient air conditioning and we were there on some very hot days. The parking is secure behind a security gate right next to the chateau. You can have breakfast outside in the beautiful grounds which is a lovely start to the day. It is a 12 minute walk at a slow pace as it was so hot into the old town of Samaur which was also perfect. Very helpful and friendly staff.

A delightful small chateau within walking distance of Saumur Town centre. The owners and staff are extremely helpful and friendly, we were made to feel very welcome. Our bedroom was tastefully decorated, as were the main rooms in the chateau, in keeping with a property of this type. Our room had an air conditioning unit, and there is a lift in the property if needed. The gardens are large and peaceful, with a nice terraced area to sit with a drink in the evenings. The swimming pool is beautifully kept, a good size, and nicely private behind sceening hedging. We've stayed in Saumur a fair number of times in recent years, and in our opinion this is the best there is ! Thanks to the owners and staff for a great 4 night stay.

Nothing not to like.

The property is amazing. It's the sort of place we hoped we might be able to stay in sometime during our trip through the Loire Valley. An actual Chateau! Best stay of our trip. A little outside the center of town, which we liked.

October and the entire region was swarming with a combination of brown marmorated stink bugs and lady bugs that somehow managed to continually sneak into our room. Not the owner's fault, but did detract slightly from our experience.

A fabulous stay - I can't recommend it highly enough. The hotel is housed in an incredibly beautiful mini-Chateau, and the inside is every bit as beautiful as the outside. We were treated very well by the owners and other staff, and appreciated them waiting up late for us to check in after a delay en route. The rooms are huge, and beautifully appointed, and I had a fantastic night's sleep each night I was there. The hotel helpfully organised two electric bikes for us, and was helpful in giving us routes to choose from. The neighborhood is beautiful, and you're very near to the 'downtown' of Saumur, with it's restaurants and cafes. You're also on the doorstep of beautiful countryside. A really perfect location. Exceptional value for money.

The breakfast was okay. It did the job, but wasn't great value for money. We also weren't expecting to have to pay for parking - that wasn't clearly communicated, and a bit of a surprise given how much space there is to park in the hotel.

Wonderful building (the photos don’t really do it justice) - we were blown away by the decor and the gardens. The staff are a credit to the owner, Flore. Everyone went out of her way to make our stay very special - to the extent that Flore even managed to secure a local restaurant reservation on what was a very busy weekend for Saumur. The breakfast was a particular highlight. We wish we could have stayed much longer and shall return for next year’s Anjou Vintage Velo weekend.

This is an elegant, very well-situated mansion, a short walk away from the center of town but in a quiet and private street. The owners have recently purchased the property and they are friendly and attentive. A delicious and very complete breakfast is served in a beautiful room, opening to a gorgeous garden. The room and bathroom are very big. There is an A/C unit in the room, which was a little loud, but cooled the room very efficiently. You can have a drink in the living/drawing room until 9 pm.

Lots of possibilities for updating furniture and decor in the future.

Beautiful historic building. The owner gave us a tour & history of the hotel over the years, so interesting. Our room had a wonderful view of the chateau and the gardens.The facilities are fabulous, clean & plenty of room to relax, you are encouraged to use all the lounges downstairs as well as explore its 2 acres. It was very hot when we arrived, the heated pool was a splendid way to cool down. La Marquise is perfectly situated to explore Saumur and the famous chateau. The team made us feel so welcome, I just wish we had longer here.

My wife and I arrived by bicycle and the location was convenient to the EuroVelo route. The swimming pool was fantastic after a full day on the bike. Safe storage space was provided for the bikes. Our room was fantastic! The receptionist that checked us in was very informative and helpful as was the owner of the establishment. The breakfast in the morning was great and we left more than adequately fueled up for the journey ahead. I feel very fortunate to have stayed the night and only wished we had stayed longer.

We liked it all.

The actual building is beautiful. It is ornate with attention to detail on every wall ceiling and floor. The stained glass windows are breath taking. The gardens are well maintained and offered respite from the heat and were the perfect spot to share a bottle of bubbles. Highly recommend booking the spa for a couple of hours for a romantic night.
