Breakfast contents were set the night before, and then served at the table in the morning. Really nice and peaceful as an alternative to a huge breakfast buffet where guests are moving all the time. We did like it.

Nothing really, except that 100+ EUR a night digs a bit too deep in the wallet.

This is a wonderful hotel right in the centre of the town, literally overlooking the central plaza. The owner and staff were fabulous and could not do enough to make our stay so memorable. Evening meal was very good and the breakfast great and enormous! Thank you Katya (forgive my spelling) and the whole team, cheers all 🍺

Lovely hotel in a small beautiful town. Spacious rooms with good beds and fantastic breakfast. We received a welcome bottle of bubbles. Great value for money.

The location is great and the staff are super friendly and welcoming. We had all we needed really.

The bedding wasn’t great, could do with some softer pillows in particular.

The location was right on the town square. We first got a room in the back looking at a exhaust fan, but managed to get a room in the front with a view to the town square. The bed was very comfortable with nice linens. The bathroom has been renovated. The parking is right behind the hotel. You choose your breakfast the day before and it was very good. The staff are very friendly.

The choice of lime green color used to decorate the hotel is not good. At least the room decor was not lime green. Glad it was winter as there were few people sitting out front under the lime green tent eating and drinking and smoking.

When my wife and I stayed at the Christian IV two years ago it was a wonderful experience with good food and fantastic staff. Unfortunately the hotel seems to have changed hands and not for the better. We booked the suite for this visit but were not told that this was at the very top of the building. With no lift and no porter facilities it was a major struggle for two elderly people to climb the many stairs.We often use suites when travelling and look forward to a well stocked bar and complimentary flowers or a bowl of fruit. The Christian IV offered a cheap pkt of Gummibears (See below picture) and an empty fridge with accompanying price list for the obviously absent contents. Whoever has got his hands upon this previously excellent hotel seems determined to run it into the ground by cost cutting.

Just about everything. For the evening meal I ordered a Vienna Snitzel. This was served with uncooked old potatoes complete with black spots while all around Gluckstad fresh new potatoes were in abundance and this was accompanied by some sort of indescribable sauce fresh out of a packet. For breakfast, while the ham and cheese were excellent the allegedly scrambled egg was a totally revolting concoction of unseasoned half mixed egg burnt unenthusiastically in a frying pan swimming with grease and topped for strange reason with chopped spring onions. This accompanied by cold bitter coffee which seems to have been made some hours before it was served. The enthusiastic staff of our last visit has been replaced by a very pleasant but badly trained young lady who appears to be a maid of all trades being waitress, barmaid, receptionist and general dogsbody and is not a lot of good at any of these occupations. For example, condiments are not provided with meals and apparently sugar is still under ration in Germany as two small packets were our allowance when we requested extra to attempt to sweeten the revolting coffee.
