Atmospheric old hotel, very well situated in the centre of a lovely town by the Eifel National Park. Convenient car parking in a yard just across the road. English-speaking staff and good conversation.

I have no criticism to make - everything was fine.

Once again we have stayed at the Zur Ewigen Lampe, a favourite of ours for one night stays en route to the Alps and back. It is a perfect stop off in the stunningly beautiful town of Nideggen. The option of wonderful dining in the hotel, or other fantastic options close by in the town and simply superb. We alway walk up to and around the Burg Nideggen, where there is also a restaurant serving first class food. The owners of the Z.E.L. are simply charming, always helpful with parking and they look after us as though we are family. The owner recognised me from my visit in March this year, 4 months prior to this stay, and made us very welcome. This was the first time that I've stayed with my partner and she thought the hotel was absolutely wonderful too. Room was very clean a super-spacious, lovely bathroom, very comfy beds (we like a firm bed) and excellent breakfast, all beautifully laid out on our table. Indeed, since it was looking as though we were not going to eat all of our breakfast the owner very kindly asked if we would like to make up some rolls for our lunch to take with us - what a lovely gesture!

For my purposes (driving to the Alps for a ski holiday) this is a superb location for an overnight stop off, en route between the UK and Austria. The hotel has an excellent kitchen, the evening meal in the hotel was perfect. Local restaurants, which I have experienced on previous visits, are also very good. Breakfast was excellent too. Staff were very helpful and attentive, going out of their way to ensure I had parking sorted out in their nearby off-street parking yard. The room was excellent, very nice comfortable bed, and it had a spacious well appointed bathroom. The local Eifel region is beautiful and so this hotel would make an excellent base to explore the area for a holiday.

It’s a traditional German hotel. Full of character. Staff were very welcoming. If you need staff who can speak English, both of the ones we met spoke perfect English. Situated in a beautiful town. Good choice of restaurants within just a short walk. Definitely one to return to.

The WiFi only worked marginally. Poor signal strength and the speed was slow. Fortunately we could use a cellphone instead and the hotel is in an area where it worked well.

The hotel is in the middle of (a lovely, small) town. Parking in front of the hotel is free for the first hour - very convenient for check-in. The room and the bathroom were spacious and comfortable. The restaurant / breakfast room was spacious and welcoming. Breakfast was served at the table, fresh breadrolls and a selection of cheeses, meats and preserves. According to the information in the room, additional items such as eggs could be ordered, but we didn’t.

The street outside is cobbled, so passing traffic is noisy. However, without some fresh air, the room temperature was too high. The curtains were thin (letting in light)

We loved the atmosphere in this hotel and the beautiful wooden furnishings throughout including in our room. It was for us very conveniently situated in the centre of Nideggen with safe parking just across the road in a small courtyard area. We were only there for one night so didn't see a lot of our hosts, but they were very welcoming. Breakfast was lovely, fantastic fresh bread!

The owners of the hotel are very nice, breakfast sufficient.... The only thing I personally missed was the lack of coffee/tea making facilities in the room. Nevertheless, I always go back there when I am in the area. Cosy place for everyone J

This was a lovely hotel with friendly staff and a great location. We booked in for the evening meal and there was plenty of choice. Both the food for the evening meal and the breakfast was very good.

A lovely hotel with German charm. The dining room is especially pretty. The hosts were kind and attentive. The shower was great and our room was spotless.

The bed was a little too hard for me.

It is a very nice, historical place to stay. You can reach everywhere by walk. The hotel offers you a restaurant and a bar, which is ideal when the small city is closed in the middle of the night. Ideal place with great staff to stay for a weekend trip!
