The food was really good, the staff was excellent, the room was nice and clean. The beach is two minutes away. The hotel has a variety of swiming pools including a mini water park for kids. During a medical issue the hotel staff was super helpfull, they called the doctor arranged an appointment and transportation. Basically what ever you need they can organise it for you (sightseeing, transportation, masagge, …)

The pillows were too high, but with pillows it is hard to find one that suits all the guests so it totally understandable and acceptable.

Every staff member was so friendly and attentive. Very well catered to families and despite travelling as a couple to attend a wedding we will definitely consider returning and bringing the children. Nice size hotel - not too rammed with people and right amount of adult only areas too. They were also excellent at arranging taxi services and looking after you. We got stuck at cameo beach and they sent a taxi within minutes. I was very impressed with the customer service.

Slight downside was being so close to airport as you'd have planes fly quite nearby but equally it didn't bother us much after the first day and barely noticed. Cleanliness could be bit better but it was pretty good overall. They would clear up pool and pool bars very quickly and kept it looking nice throughout the day. Lunch service was very slow on one day when they had too many orders at same time. Price was quite high for 3 nights and we found out our friends had got a better rate booking direct after our stay :(

Reading some of the negative comments, I admit I was a little bit nervous but once I reached I realized one thing: everything about the Hotel is simply wonderful! Extremely clean rooms and surroundings, excellent breakfast with plenty of choice, such kind and professional people doing everything to make you feel at home. Don't trust the negative comments! There is air conditioning in the room, wifi free of charge, free toiletries, literally 5 min very slow walking from the beautiful beach of Kalamaki and around 10 min walking from the main tavernas on the street, plenty of space for parking inside the hotel and outside in the street. If ever back to Zakynthos I'd definitely come back to the same place! ❤

We had such a great time at hotel Marelen. I would classify this hotel as a small luxury or boutique hotel. In high season the hotel still felt quiet and relaxed; we loved that. All prices are good; you’ll receive much value for money. A beautiful turtle beach, Kalamaki beach, is very nearby- you can walk to the beach in 3 minutes. The beach is primarily for the turtles and not the tourists. We as tourists should adapt and not vica versa which is such a good and healthy development. You can also walk to ‘Kalamaki-shops’ it is nice, would be more convenient if the hotel can offer steps or cycles or something, so you don’t have to walk in 35+ degrees. Thereby the staff is so kind and so much fun. We and our kids loved them; pool guy, barmen, housekeeping, reception, waiters/waitresses, gardener: all such hard en kind workers. Respect and compliments Marelen for this great team! Keep up the good work Kostas, Antreas, Denia, Nikos, Gharris/Harry, Sevi, Agnita, Alex, Bledy and much all !! So in total: If you want luxury, rest, good food, nice ambiance ánd childfriendly this hotel is perfect! We’ll come back!

We arrived 6 hours before the check in time, but we were able to eat breakfast, leave our luggage in a luggage room, take a shower, and enjoy the pool while waiting for our room, which was ready sooner than expected anyway. We got a pretty large room, with a spacious balcony. There is some distance between the rooms and the road or other hotels, so you rarely hear any noise. We also found a free water bottle in our room after we checked in, and water is also appreciated :) The hotel is really close to the beach (5 minutes walk). We've taken breakfast here every day, and it is an open buffet. While the options are pretty much the same every day, there's a large number of things to try, with a healthy amount of variety so one can probably mix and match a different breakfast each day. Lunch is not served, but you can grab something to eat at the pool bar. The food here is ok, but better than most pool bars I've eaten at. Dinner is also served, but we preferred to try a different restaurant every night, so I can't say much about that. Each night has a special theme, and the restaurant seemed always full. In one of the nights we returned a bit early from our walks. It was Greek night, and while dinner was no longer served, the hotel staff was dancing and teaching people how to dance. We were invited to join the fun. There's also a pool bar where we've enjoyed some really good cocktails. While one of the pools is kids-friendly, there is an adults only pool, in a nice quite place, so you can escape the agitation. All pools close in the evening, but we enjoyed reading a book by the empty pool while drinking a cocktail. We checked out early in the morning, before breakfast, but we got a pretty good early breakfast to go. The hotel also ordered a taxi for us.

The hotel partners with Abba Tour Zante for tours, and while this is outside the control of the hotel, we found this company to be incompetent at best, and malicious at worst. If you decide to book a tour through the hotel do some research on this tour operator before.

Food. If you stayed in the hotel without meal options, specially Dinner, you have missed quite an experience. They server super delicious foods in different theme every night. Breakfast is sufficient and great too. Their stuff are super friendly, highly caring and attentive. My toddler girl ended up making her first sister abroad with one of the stuffs, such was their engagement. Location was great too, 5 mins walk to beach or any shop, 7-8 mins to any shop. 8 mins drive from airport. The room wasn’t the biggest, but exactly as described with all facilities. They also provide room service every day.

The splash pool was great, but the water temperature could be warmer to suit the babies. That’s a minor issue though as there were other options for baby too.

Great hotel for a 3 night stay in Zakynthos! Very close to the airport (8 minutes-15 euro ride), walkable to restaurants in Kalamaki (10 minute walk) and the facitliies on the grounds are great. Walkable to the beach- though we didn't stay. Little corner store 2 minute walk. We spent every morning at the adult pool (only about 5 couples were there) and the afternoon at the other pool. The breakfast was fantastic. It had everything you could possibly want, but the best part is it was hot. Buffet breakfasts can be hit or miss, this was stellar! Highly recommend.

Would have liked a bit of music playing at the adult pool but we understand if it is supposed to be more of a quiet area. Not that big of a deal.

The hotel was fantastic, the staff were friendly without being over the top. We only ate breakfast or snacks/lunch at the pool bar but the food was delicious and reasonably priced for a hotel. The facilities were fantastic, my son loved the splash pool! The rooms were clean and there was a very relaxed atmosphere. The location was great and the main strip in walking distance and the beach only a couple of mins walk away. There was a little shop just over the road which was ideal too.

The hotel overall was great. We’d definitely recommend to family and friends. The staff were friendly, service was wonderful. The hotel isn’t too big and wasn’t too busy but had a lovely atmosphere. (We stay middle of August) Family friendly, great kids splash area. Pool was lovely. We stayed half board - buffet breakfast and dinner. Lots of choices for adults and children. Paid for our drinks - cocktails and beer was great. We thoroughly enjoyed our 1 week stay. Thank you! It was wonderful - location was great. Minutes walk from the beach.

Our room was quite small for a family of 4 (x2 adults and x2 young children. Baby cot, double bed and single bed. A bit of a tight squeeze, but equally the room was clean and tidy. So can’t complain too much.

Breakfast was great! Really enjoyed the food and was happy with the selection, considering I'm a fussy eater. The location was great, around a 5-10 Mins walk to Kalamaki strip, and less than 5 Mins to the beach. Marelen couldn't disappoint in anyway. We will be returning next year with more guests that's for sure.
