Where do I start? Hillside Lodge is beautifully located, just a couple of kilometres outside Clifden, on the Sky Road, which has breathtaking views! I got a lovely warm welcome from Ruth and was blown away by my room, which had a U2 theme, and was beautifully decorated, with such attention to detail! Even the corridor outside the room is a music gallery with so much memorabilia to view! It's plain to see that Ruth and Stuart give their all to make their B&B unique. I've stayed in many places, but this place stands out, for sure. Beautifully cooked breakfast too. I cannot recommend this place enough!

I hated leaving!

Where to begin! The location was amazing - it felt remote and looked out on a rural Connemara landscape, but was just a few minutes drive to the town of Clifden, a charming, lively, delightful place with great restaurants and shops. Our host, Ruth, was friendly, sweet, personable, knowledgable and incredibly helpful every chance she got. The space was elegant, inviting, and comfortable, with lots of style and tasteful flourishes. Breakfast was incredible - abundant choices and everything was fresh and tasty and perfect. We hated to leave.

Loved everything - the house was clean, well-maintained, and the decor was outstanding. The music theme was really neat and we came to know that one of the owners worked(works?) as a guitar tuner for a U2 band member, which is super neat. The location was great, on Sky Road, just a short drive or slightly longer walk into Clifden town. Across the road are some gorgeous Castle ruins. Breakfast was impeccable. Staff were extremely kind and hospitable. 10/10.

Ruth and her staff were most welcoming. Breakfast was delicious and Julia and Kara are wonderful servers. We appreciated the two options of sitting times. Our room was very spacious and very clean. We loved seeing all the memorabilia in the hallway! The castle across the road was a wonderful adventure to walk to. The list of restaurants were helpful when selecting a spot for supper. USB ports in our room made charging devices very easy. There was plenty of parking available.

Hillside Lodge was amazing, very comfortable, clean and cosy. Ruth was so helpful and made us feel like friends visiting rather than paying guests. Breakfast was super, very good quality and locally sourced. The smoked salmon was exceptional and tasted amazing with her home made brown bread. A definite place to go back to.

Hillside Lodge was the perfect place to stay while we were visiting splendid Clifden and the surrounding magical area. Ruth was a fantastic host, kind and helpful. Our room #6 was cozy and large, twice the size of a standard hotel room with a full living room area and sectional sofa. The breakfast was delicious, healthy and made to order. We have nothing but positive things to say about this wonderful experience. Book now!

The portfolio provided with the roof provided extensive coverage of the location for medical facilities and the laundromat frequently overlooked for travellers.An email before arrival listed restaurants and hotels. The twenty-five minute walk into town was accurate although the more scenic route by the beach required another five minutes. The reading lights on the bed were well located and powerful. Sovernirs of the owner's career as a guitar tech with U2 dot the house. Breakfast was varied and interesting.

Unfortunately an old house cannot be adequately sound proofed although efforts have been made to rectify this. The provision of television would not be practical. Guests need to be mindful of sleepers when departing early inn the morning.

The Hillside Lodge was in a great location, so close to Clifden town centre and with gorgeous views. We were accommodated last minute with no problem and were happy to be able to have a free parking space. We had a lovely welcome and were given a great menu for breakfast which we chose from the evening before so that it was prepared for us the next morning. Every last detail was paid attention to, from the breakfast to the room, bathroom, sitting room, and even the decoration was really interesting to see as it told us a lot about the lovely owners :) thanks a mil!

Ruth and Stewart were wonderful hosts; great location five minutes from Clifden and 25 minutes from Connemara National Park. Our room (we stayed in the corner room #5; we were pleased to find out it was the U2 room) was comfortable and clean, and the breakfast was great. Highly recommend.

Everything was great- our room had a slanted ceiling, so I just needed to be careful (as I'm 6'2").

10/10 score. The owner, Mr Stuart is the number one, he is very kind and professional. The room was big, nice and the property is furnished in a very stylish and original way like a music museum (amplifiers, guitars, basses and beautiful manifests from the greatest bands like U2, killers, curiosity kill the cats). The way the house was furnished is great, I think Stuart traveled a lot to support several important music bands during their concerts. We enjoyed the attention to the details like the usb chargers close to the bed, the sign in the toilet telling that they are improving the water filtering system and to use the provided drinking water. Excellent breakfast. A lot of parking space and great location.

I would suggest to include the Google Map GPS coordinates in the welcome message on booking to facilitate the guests to locate the property. The guest house sign is not well visible. I was paying attention on the drive and distracted from the beauty of the sky road and searching the property was not so easy
