Breakfast offered a good selection and staff were very attentive and professional. Room was clean and well equipped with cleaning staff offering excellent daily service. Location offered a pleasant 10 min walk to the centre of Alghero along coastline.

Hotel was clearly a 5 star hotel 15/20 years ago, built using the best materials and design at the time. However in 2023 it feels dated and hasn't progressed with the times. Areas such as the gym, hallways, tennis court etc... have been neglected and feel worn. Similarly equipment such as sun-beds and towels don't appear to be of the quality that would be expected at a 5 star resort. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, but feel as though the hotel was clearly once worthy of a 5-star badge, but feels more 4-star now. That being said it was always immaculately clean and the staff were excellent.

The staff were so friendly and helpful. The location was perfect only 10mins walk from main town with plenty of little bars to stop at along the way. The hotel was spotless, food and cocktails were fab. We'll definitely be back.

There was nothing to not like.

A really lovely hotel made even better by all the super staff we met during our stay. We had 11 nights in a beautiful room looking over the sea at the front. The reception area, breakfast room, bar terrace and lunch/evening restauant are top class, as was the spa. There is a very large swimming pool with plenty of basic loungers for everyone and fresh supplies of towels. A nice 15 min walk to the old town and just 20 mins taxi from the airport too.

As mentioned by others, the area around the pool could do with some landscaping, it's just bare grass leading to a worn out wall & fence. Also a small hedge blocks the brilliant view of the sea from the pool deck.

Amazing hotel, the location is just perfect (close enough to City Center to reach by walking but still very quiet area), not to mention the view and the terrace! Also the pool area was nice and Alghero is a really good point to explore the island from. But what impressed us most was the food (lots of variety and fresh at breakfast, amazing quality for dinner) and the staff - never had such friendly and warm-hearted staff, always available and welcoming. Especially Claudio & Alberto from the F&B team and Alberto at the reception gave us an amazing experience with their professional yet friendly & funny ways, which had us always enjoy breakfast and dinner time. We never felt as “just guests” but everything was always at ease and enjoyable!

Fantastic location with a lovely walk into the town centre. Clean and big pool with plenty of sun loungers. Friendly and attentive staff. Definitely worth paying more for a room with frontal sea view - it was incredible waking up to this every day. Good breakfast selection, we really liked the freshly made omelettes too. Rooms cleaned daily and again, the staff all very friendly, always saying hello. Very nice fruit platter waiting in the room upon arrival. When we checked out early, a breakfast box was provided. Plenty of parking.

Gym is a bit tired but still served a purpose. Lunch menu for the pool bar is a bit limited but still fine. Very poor coffee facilities in the room. Coming to Italy to drink instant Nescafe isn’t ideal but equally isn’t the end of the world. There was nothing about the property which was terrible. It’s definitely not 5 stars but it’s still a good hotel, in a fantastic location, with friendly staff, and provides a base for a great holiday.

The hotel is beautiful located facing the sea and just 10m away lovely stroll from the city centre. Breakfast was rich and tasted good. My seaside room was spacious and comfortable with a very large balcony.

If I really have to find something to improve I would say that the garden area besides the pool looks very dull and faces standard buildings, not the usual setting you would expect from a 5s hotel. I d recommend to fence the area with tall trees and make the garden area more cosy. Overall on some small details the 5s drop to 4s, which is a pity because with just a little bit more attention everything would look immaculate for a great 5s experience.

Staff generally were very helpful especially the blond lady serving lunch. Lunch was very good in the restaurant, we never tried the restaurant in the evening. Pool and loungers/day beds great, quiet, very relaxing and views from hotel bar are amazing.

Breakfast was fine, plenty of choices but no fresh fruit just tinned and no freshly squeezed orange juice. The 15-20 min walk into town was no problem in the evening (though more difficult in the lunchtime heat of 35°C) but we arrived late on our first evening and to speed us up we ordered a taxi which charged €15 for 3 min journey (standard city fee) but I felt the hotel reception could have warned us. Otherwise great stay, though fell quite short of a 5* experience.

We were upgraded to a better room, which was very nice! The room was a decent size and very comfortable, pool and sea view. Very clean. The staff were very nice and helpful. Breakfast was nice, not at all inclusive resort level but very complete nonetheless. Very nice pool area, and excellent view to the sea. 10 minute walk (very very pleasant walk with amazing views) from the old town and all restaurants. Beach is also close by!

Air con was automatically on and made the room very cold but that was easily resolved. Although it was a very nice week at the Smy Carlos V, I don't think they classify as a 5 star hotel.

This hotel was fabulous! It is in such a great location, a 15 min easy walk to the main centre. The view outside the hotel is breathtaking. The staff were very friendly and helpful, they all spoke great English. The pool was very clean and well maintained, the pool atmosphere was quiet and relaxing with many lounge chair/beds always available. The room was lovely with new and modern, clean furniture. The bed was comfy and the room was serviced perfectly each day. Lots of counter space in the bathroom and a big shower with great pressure and luxurious toiletries. The aircon was exceptional, extremely impressed with it! I would definitely stay here again.

The food was a bit expensive, and there wasn't a proper cocktail menu at the bar.

Lovely hotel the pool area is very chilled with nice sun beds pool is salt water which is great nice food from the restaurant, rooms very nice the pool area is great for sunbathing . The breakfast is amazing loads of choice champagne as well staff very helpful and friendly, nearest beach is 2 min walk nice but rocky but we had sea shoes so no issues if you want sandy beach about 20 minutes but we was aware of that so no issues town is about 10 mins away and restaurants

Had to pay €45 per person to use the spa think that’s a bit high considering what we paid to stay in the uk the spa area is free to use so bit disappointing to be honest
