We had a standard room, which was excellent, very clean, with a very comfortable bed. The hotel was a 15 min walk from the main train station when we arrived from Naples. It was a short 5 min walk to a smaller station for our onward journey to Amalfi, which took about an hour and a half. The hotel is superbly located for the Pompei ruins a 10 min walk. (a bit of advice, dont buy your audio tour from one of the street sales shops, as they were large, hand held and did not cover all the locations at the site). We were ideally located for Pompei centre, with loads of inexpensive places to eat. The hotel is family run and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The owner booked us a trip up Vesuvius and were picked up from the hotel. For a very comfortable, friendly, superbly located, value for money hotel in Pompei The Grand Hotel Royal is the place to stay.

Hello, I only have good things to say about this hotel. Since the time we arrived until the time we left everything was perfect. The Manager and the staff were extremely friendly and accomodating. The room was spotless and really big. The wifi had excellent connection. and th ebreakfast was amazing! The Manager went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. He ensured breakfast was provided earlier to accomodate our morning flight and also helped us booking transportation to go to the airport. Thank you so much for everything! I highly recommend this hotel to anyone that it is looking for a stress free stay :)

The only place to stay in Pompei. Gaetano on reception was exceptionally knowledgeable, super friendly and could not do enough to assist. We arrived at 9.45pm and he ensured that if we were hungry he would be able to ensure we would be fed and as a gesture of goodwill gave us free drinks in the room. We only stopped for one night but he insisted we could park for the whole of the following day until 9.00pm and to leave our cases behind the Reception desk. The room was air conditioned, secure free parking and no more than 350m away from the entrance to Pompeii Archaeological Park.

Not sure any improvements could be found? My only suggestion would be if using Google Maps to get to the hotel then input the end destination of the petrol station of Q8 Palomba Pasquale, which is on the road known as SS18 - Viale Giuseppe Mazzini. There is a long driveway next to the petrol station that takes you directly to the new entrance of the hotel and its car park.

Very nice, very clean small hotel with a super friendly hosts. It looks like a family run business. Rich breakfast (for Italian standards at least) and good quality selection of foods. Walking distance to the Pompei city center with a lot of restaurants, bars, gelatos, etc. <10 min walk to the side entrance to Pompei archeologic site, ~20min walk to the main entrance to the archeologic site. Very convenient parking protected by the fence/gate (closed for the night).

The only drawback was that the area was quite noisy and our windows faced a quit busy street (~40m away) and the train tracks (~100m). We like sleeping with open windows and it was sometimes challenging because of the noise. Trains were surprisingly silent, passing cars were more disturbing, barking dogs in the night were even more frustrating and the most frustrating (our bad lack) were kibitzes celebrating FC Napoli Italian championship after 33 years. This was crazy. Several hours of fireworks, trumpets, songs, etc. But if one closed the window, it was manageable.

An excellent hotel for a stay in Pompei. The staff and the welcome could not have been better and exceeded expectations. All the staff are great - friendly, welcoming and make you feel at home. Breakfast is fine too - and can be taken on the terrace if the weather is good. They also pointed out a few restaurants to try - all within walking distance of the hotel (we'd recommend Garum - ate there twice). Hotel is close to the centre of town and only a 5 mins walk from the entrance to the Pompeii site - perfect!

Every member of the staff went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. Even with a bit of a language gap, they tried hard to chat with us in English, sometimes with the help of Google translate, which led to some light-hearted moments. Special shoutout to Gaetano and Ottaviano for being such great hosts. I'd definitely recommend this place to others. The breakfast was top-notch, and it's perfectly located for anyone looking to explore Pompeii. I really wish we could've stayed longer!

The staff is outstanding! Seriously like the nicest people you can meet. I arrived at the hotel around 10am to drop off my stuff so I wouldn't have to carry it around. They gave me a map and directions, they offered me breakfast (I hadn't checked in yet), I took them up on a cappuccino. The cappuccino was made hand made with a fancy machine, not a stupid automated machine that makes discussing drinks is used in most hotels.

It met every expectation.

Everything: parking (safe and big); room (big) and light in the badroom for night; breakfast; the care of all the family, it was like being in home. Very near the city center and very good/safe and clean environment. I love the suggestion for lunch and dinner, It is awazing for prayer in the Pompey Cathedral (Shrine of the Virgn of the Rosary of Pompei). Very near naples and all around (shopping center, Vesium...)...almost forget the bottle of water for the return due to strong hot days. Thank you!

This is a small hotel and with it come the friendliness you would expect. The room was spacious and very clean. The staff were so helpful and friendly, always willing to help. It is a quiet location but just a short walk from the train stations, the Pompei site, restaurants and shops.

The shelves for the bedside tables look like they have been sat on, and so were on a slant making it difficult to put things on it. The shower door was very difficult to open from the inside!

The owner was so kind. He arrange transportation for my family (children 10 and 6) to Pompei ruins and Sorrento. He also let us leave our luggage after check out so we could stay late and visit Pompei. They morning breakfast was lovely and had wonderful cappuccino. You are a few minutes walk from the train station and just a few minutes from wonderful restaurants and town square. Bonus: WONDERFUL hot water and water pressure. The rooms were just recently renovated and very clean.
