Hotel Cir is fabulous. It lies at the top of Gardena Pass along a road that is not for the faint-of-heart driver. But no car is needed to get here. Once-an-hour bus service is available during the summer, but more fun is what our family of 12 did in August 2023. We took the train to Bolzano, bus to Selva di Val Gardena, and bought a 3-day Gardena Card (103 euros pp) that allows unlimited use of 18 ski lifts in the Gardena Valley. From Selva we took the Dantercepies Gondola and then the Cir chair lift with our backpack luggage to within 100 m of the hotel. The grandkids loved it! The hotel itself is clean and comfortable and the staff helpful. The food at the restaurant is a little pricey but excellent. There are lower price options at the tavern across and down the street. The biggest advantage of the Cir is that it is located right in the middle of some of the most spectacular scenery in Europe (think Sound of Music). It is a great base for hiking and mountain biking just outside the front door. Trails and ski lifts are immediately accessible (ride up and hike or ride down) and refugios (described as ski huts but actually nice restaurants) are scattered every few miles in the back country. We had great lunches and the opportunity for a cold beer pretty much everywhere we hiked. If we ever get back to the Dolomites, this will definitely be one of our places to stay. Photos show view out room window and local scenery.

We absolutely loved everything about our stay at Hotel Cir (pronounced cheer). The included breakfast offered just about anything you could want and everything was delicious. Dinners were served by course and we thoroughly enjoyed everything we had and they made sure we got enough! They surprised us on our first night with a bottle of champagne to celebrate our 41st wedding anniversary. The views are beyond beautiful so be sure to enjoy an appertivo from the yard or terrace. Or, if the weather is not cooperative, they have a nice lounge area with comfortable seating where you can play games or just relax. The staff was the highlight though. Every staff member was over-the-top helpful, friendly and accommodating. Luca was a great bartender and took good care of us! Massimiliano and Lucy made sure we were well taken care of during mealtimes. Roberta and Nicole came through with assistance lining up an early-morning taxi, figuring out the bus schedule, and taking advantage of the chairlift near the hotel to get to a gondola system to take us to a nearby town . . . among other things. They even gifted us a bottle of wine before we left. It's more than just a place to sleep . . . it's a wonderful experience in an absolutely stunning area of the world. The views are unbelievable from every angle from the hotel. We are very grateful to have chosen Hotel Cir and would highly recommend this first-rate hotel!
Our room was a little on the small side, but it was certainly all we needed as we were hardly in there. As long as you know that going in, it's very doable and was always clean and well stocked.

This hotel definitely has the look and feel of a rustic Refugio. The rooms and ensuites are clean and spacious. The hotel is surrounded by the Dolomites so every room has a view. The staff are friendly and helpful. There is lots of car parking available which is helpful as the hotel is about 10-20 minutes from Ortisei. The breakfast provided is very good.
The hotel is large and very busy during the peak of summer which can mean there is a small amount of noise at night or in the morning when people leave/return to their rooms. The locks on the doors are old tumbler locks and the key should be used when closing the door, people who didn’t realise this would slam the doors closed which would be quite loud.

If you want to see the Dolomites but aren't sure where all those beautiful locations in the photos are, head to Cir! It is situated in the most beautiful place, surrounded by mountain peaks, at an elevation of over 2 km. The hotel offers a perfect combination of seclusion and proximity to civilization. The building itself is old but very authentic and cozy. The service is top-notch: clean, spacious rooms, excellent food, and you'll have your own designated table for the entire stay in the hotel's cozy restaurant. The menu changes daily, the food is delicious, and you'll be offered seconds. There is a separate lobby with fast Wi-Fi where you can sit and work. They serve snacks with your beer, and you could easily fill up on them alone. The Wi-Fi in the rooms is weaker, but mobile reception is good, so it's not an issue. The view from the parking lot is stunning! There's a terrace with tables under umbrellas and a wide variety of garden furniture overlooking the mountains—the views are breathtaking! Photos don't do justice to the beauty of the hotel, and for a very reasonable price, you get the best! This is no exaggeration—it's the ideal hotel in the Dolomites if you're there for the mountains and not just to lounge in a spa. I doubt I would recommend any other hotel. As someone else mentioned in the reviews, I even hesitated to reveal all the advantages of this place just to keep it to myself. :)
I can't find any flaws. Compared to the uniqueness of the dinners, the breakfasts might seem a bit repetitive—but that's not true! The coffee is excellent, and there's more than enough food.

The staff was exceptional. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The front desk staff were very personable and made sure we were offered the bus pass in case we needed public transportation. They were also kind to offer to fill our Camelback water pouches even suggesting ice (yes we took that offer.) The restaurant waitress made stellar recommendations for wine. The bar waiter was delightful and told us all about the winter ski scene. The meals were excellent -- good choices. Loved the afternoon snack enjoyed outside with our end of hike beers.
I thought the actual room could be a little nicer. Hate to say it but it looked a little beat up and that could be because skiis are brought into the room and they scratch things up. The room wasn't bad or anything - just real basic. But overall everything really was just fine and very comfortable.

Great location with amazing views. Close to many hiking routes and via ferratas. Friendly staff, they always ask if everything is okay and smile a lot. Free of charge huge parking lot. We were late for the check in (8 PM) but they kindly waited. Also, we chose the cheapest room with a twin bed but in the booking messages an employee asked if we prefer a twin or double bed - we chose double bed. Once we arrived, it came out to be the employee mistake as we shouldn't have the choice. On the next day they upgraded the room for us anyway.
Very weak coffee (almost water) for breakfast. Almost no equipment in the room - only 2 plastic cups, no kettle, no dishes or cutlery, no fridge.

Gorgeous location high in the mountains with fantastic views all round. The hotel was warm and cosy everywhere inside despite the snow and freezing temperatures outside in September. The reception staff were lovely, even loaning us an electrical adapter when ours didn't work in the hotel. The hotel had a very traditional feel with beautiful wood panelling and decorated wood but with all the modern conveniences
The breakfast buffet did not get replenished frequently and the coffee provided was not very good

The location is magical! If you plan to arrive in the evening, be prepared for a serpentine road climb and the related thrills. There are tracks around the facility, for all levels of advancement. The hotel staff, facilities, and food are amazing. While the rooms are quite small, this fits the profile of a hotel nestled in the mountains. At an altitude of around 2,130 meters, you can expect incredibly fresh air and a different experience.
Everything, but particularly food and location.

Our stay at Hotel Cir in the Dolomites was absolutely wonderful. The location was perfect, offering breathtaking views and easy access to hiking trails. The dinner was delicious, with a variety of dishes that were both flavorful and beautifully presented. The breakfast was equally impressive, providing a great start to our days. Overall, everything was just fine and the food was great.
Nothing.
