The Ryokan is located really close to Fukuoka airport, only about a 45min drive but it feels really remote and secluded. It is built right on a little river and goes up the hill with a really cute timber walkway to a large public onsen area with superb facilities. At night when walking along the walkway it feels like you have been transported into a different century. Really atmospheric We stayed in a traditional tatami room which was large and comfortable. One of the highlights of the stay was the food, it was just amazing and even the dining room was amazing. Just beautiful and each table could be separated by screens. It really was a fine dining experience There were so many onsen facilities. There is an indoor one (which we didn't even have time to try), a large public outdoor onsen with lots of different pools and really pretty. And there was also a private onsen that you could book as a hotel guest for no extra cost. Overall we just had a great experience here and we can definitely say we would come back again on a future trip.

The onsen experience was superb. It was not too crowded. There was an outdoor public bath with a surreal vibe. Remember to bring some money there to enjoy the milk after the onsen. The staff was really nice. I lost my JR pass there, and they helped me ship the pass to my next hotel. Very appreciated their effort on finding it.

There is nothing much to do around the area. You should only stay there for the onsen. 1 night is probably good enough.

Most of staff can speak English and their service was amazing. Included dinner and breakfast were very very impressed. Room size was pretty big and it was my first time to see the highest technology of the bidet, it looks like coming from the future LOL

The hot spring water smelt faintly of bleach, perhaps because it was chlorinated. It doesn't feel bad because it's disinfected water, but it also means it's not very good at the same time.

The room, baths, and meals were amazing. We had our own private onsen but used the public ones too, all were very nice. The included meals were delicious and seemed to be a great range of traditional Japanese cuisine.
