The entrance was beautiful and its located close to the Town Centre. The room was clean, nicely decorated with all the little perks you usually would not find in other hotels ie room fresheners and shoe polish. The staff were all polite and friendly. I was given fresh towels, robes, slippers, and tea and green tea daily. Coffee machine is in the lobby, hot and fresh but I would have liked to have the option to have some milk with it, nevertheless, it was excellent for visitors especially.

I actually like everything but the bath was pretty high and deep, also the step up to the toilet room was high. It may not be much of a problem for others but I struggled with that due to my own personal issues. There's no parking on site but we were able to park briefly in front of the hotel for pick up and drop offs. There's no restaurant onside but there are local restaurants within reasonable walking distance. All in all, I would choose to visit this hotel again.

We like the location of the property, it is closed to the riverside and also walkable distance to Sakuramachi, Kumamoto Castle and some of major shopping street.

What we didn't like is that since the A/C is centralized, the room becomes super hot and dry during this winter season, but we can't really control the temperature from within the room. The hotel comes with a washing and dryer on the second floor, however, I think they need to maintain the machine well, or else, we ended up with a smelly laundry at the end.

We got a great price here, and the quality of the room was top-notch! Two weeks in hotels has taught us that two-ply toilet paper is rare in Japan, and this place has it.

Location isn't central, but close enough to public transport to be easy to get to.

The location (as the name suggests) is very nice - beside the river (I loved being able to see the shimmering water...) and a bridge and also very near to the city's new bus station (Kumamoto's train station is quite far - maybe a 25-minute walk away); I had a nice view from my room (I had asked for this); the room contained a sizeable fridge; the bathroom and -tub were spacious and this made for a comfortable bath; microwave available in a spacious guest chill-out area...

I would prefer coffee and tea sachets being made available rather than a coffee machine (having to use disposable cups) in the lobby; having to leave the key at reception (I didn't); the window in the room did not open - no fresh air possible; there were only 2 (clothes) hangers in the room; check out = 10...

The location is great. It’s quite close to the city center and the view of the river is great.

The hotel is old so the room smelled a bit musty and there weren’t enough outlets for charging my devices. It’s also a bit pricey for an old hotel.

It was clean and staff were very nice to us! Also a very central location that’s near a lot of shopping.

There is no hotel parking, but they do have parking spots near by. However if you want to leave your car there all day it might cost quite a bit. But, overnight is pretty cheap 👍

Small thing: the step from bathroom to room is really tall. If you have small kids/mobility problems, it could be difficult.
