The staff was so accommodating, the rooms were so comfortable, the facilities were amazing, and the food was delicious. It was so comfortable sleeping on the futons and the amenities left in our rooms each day went above my expectations, as did the size and quality of our traditional style room and private bathroom. It was easy to get to the hotel from the metro station- and to visit any sightseeing via metro- and there are vending machines inside and close by as well as a convenience store if you need anything in the off hours. The staff was also kind enough to store our bags since we arrived earlier than check in the first day, and when we returned that evening check in was easy and we found they had already been kind enough to put our bags in our room. The onsen was so easy to access and we loved having it in the building, it was also very accessible and felt very welcoming as a foreign guest. We enjoyed it each day, so much that we found we didn’t even need any additional spa services because we were so content. We had a dinner and three breakfasts here and each meal was better than the last, and the staff was very accommodating of the toddler traveling with us. It seemed like our final breakfast was made to be even more special as they knew it was our last. If you want traditional Japanese meals than this is definitely worth the little extra to spend, and it made the start of every day so easy and calm. I would definitely recommend this ryokan to anyone staying in Kyoto, whether you want a traditional experience or not it is simply the best option out there either way. I definitely hope I get the chance to stay here again in the future. Thank you so much to all of the staff!
It would be nice if meals were included in the total cost rather than as an extra to add on, but I completely understand why they aren’t and it is definitely worth it to pay extra for them.

The guest house really has Japanese flair, the onsen is really nice, the location is quiet but central.
As vegetarians, you can't really try the food. We asked for vegetarian options but were told there are none. Since we really wanted to try the food, we ordered the dishes that seemed to be vegetarian in the menu - but even if the meat wasn't mentioned in the menu, almost all of the dishes contained meet. So, to have at least a few vegetarian (or even vegan) options would be great.

The location is centrally located to the train and bus station. You can definitely feel the coziness of Japan hospitality thru the friendly staff and the place itself.

The room was very spacious e comfortable. Futon-style bed was surprisingly comfortable. Free onsen that allowed tattoos (no need for coverage) was a welcome bonus. Location is away from the hustle and bustle of Kyoto but that's what we wanted and there are plenty of public transportation available nearby (train and bus). Located in a residential area, we had the opportunity to see a bit of a local neighborhood, without the hordes of tourists. Staff was very polite and helpful and arranged for our luggage to be forwarded to our next destination in a quick and efficient way.
The hotel does have a restaurant, but if you want to eat elsewhere, we couldn't find many options nearby (except for the convenience store). This was not a problem for us, but can be for some.

Friendly and fluent English speaking staff. Onsen was a great experience for a first timer like me and looks clean. The whole ryokan looks newly renovated. Clean rooms and clean reception. The bathroom in our room was huge. Kaiseiki meal was better than expected. The food was well balanced in taste and texture. Staff at the restaurant speak fluent english. Overall, this accommodation exceeded my expectations. It is highly recommended. We wish we could stay longer.
As the location is a 10-minute walk away from train station and buses, we have to be careful when walking back during the night. The pillows comfortability can be improved.

We initially had a bigger room but unfortunately the hot water in the shower wasn't working so we changed rooms. It was still comfy but a bit smaller. A huge shout out to the receptionist who was very attentive and kind at all times. They provided water, tea and snacks every day. The onsen was good and the accommodation is close to the metro station.
Unfortunately, the staff at the restaurant wasn't approachable and were even hiding to avoid serving us although we arrived before the last order could be taken (delay due to the shower issue we had in the first room). The restaurant was supposed to close by 10pm but it even closed by the time of the last order (9:00pm).

I loved the public baths, and they were actually tattoo friendly (I have small tattoos but visible). The staff was so helpful and polite (they even arranged to send our luggage for us, to the next hotel). I enjoyed the massages a great great deal, as well. It is an amenity that is not included in the price but definitely worth spending a little extra for it. The whole traditional feeling and theme was prevalent, and I loved the yukata they had in the rooms for our use, and they changed them daily. We booked with breakfast and dinner and the food was a LOT. Also worth it for the price. Highly highly recommended.

In Juno Jado Shoei onsens are available all day from 6:45 AM to 11 PM. This national type of Spa was 10 meters away from our room! We visited onsens twice a day. There is a nice Restaurant with high quality Japanese cousin on the property. We had there our breakfasts (>10 entrees) and thereafter scouted the city and its neighborhoods for the entire day. When we were back, a daily afternoon tea set waited for us in our room, Tender dawn blankets, High level of cleaning (both, room and air). Minimalistic but elegant room design. We liked this Ryokan very much. The Shoei location is not a tourist area. You find yourself within the ordinary life of Japanese people residing in two-three store small houses. The Shoei is not far from the main Kyoto Station (connections, ristorante, shopping centers), and in a 3-5-minutes' walk from another JR train station.
We anticipated this but, nevertheless, we did not use sleeping on the floor.

Lovely place. The staff was great and friendly. The onsens were really beautiful and spacious. And the hours of access were also long so we had a lot of flexibility. There are two types of onsen and you can try one type per day (gender divided). Yukatas were provided and nice little snacks and tea in the room. The futons were comfortable and there was air-conditioning. We had dinner at the associated restaurant too and it was so good! Just be sure to know that if you take the breakfast that it's a japanese style breakfast (cold fish, egg, miso soup, rice, side dishes, etc.). Beautiful presentation and I enjoyed it!
Nothing.
