The owner Essan is super friendly and has experience living in Japan for 35 years, he will go out of his way to help you plan your trip and give you guidance with what to do. He is also very easy to talk with and approachable. The location is perfect, you're out of the way from the chaos of downtown and a 3 minute walk from the train station, a 711, and 5-7 minutes from the different bus stations. Getting around Kyoto is super easy from here. The beds are comfortable and even me at 6'3 (190cm) was able to sleep comfortably, something I've had an issue with in the past with beds in Japan.

The guesthouse was nice and tidy and a convenience store was quite close in case I needed to get anything to eat. The location is in a good spot since there is a train station nearby. The owner was friendly as well and the kitchen upstairs had tea and coffee which I found to be a nice touch. I liked that there were curtains on the beds so you can close yourself in and get a little more privacy from the other occupants of the room

I stayed in an all-female room since I was travelling alone and wanted to feel safe but there was no way to lock the room. There was a lock on the door from the inside but I couldn't lock it in case another guest arrived and you don't get a key to unlock it from the outside. It might be because I am a foreigner and this may be normal in Japan but it was difficult for me to sleep, knowing that anyone could walk in

A great hostel in the centre of Kyoto. Very friendly staff and good facilities. Very clean. A small kitchen but has what you need for cooking. It also has a rooftop area which is great to hang out in the warm evenings and look over the city. Very handy to the train station and bus stops to get to tourist places around the city. Typical small dorms for a hostel and can be a bit loud with people coming and going but very standard for what you're paying. Good value!!! I can confirm the beds can fit a tall human. Will definitely stay again.

Not much space for bags when the dorm rooms are full.

The location isn’t ideal for nightlife - if this is important stay near the main station. There’s a ramen place nearby that’s really good but most stuff will close early so plan for that. Could organize more social events possibly, but spontaneously it’s nice. I only list this because the staff are so great.

This was the first place I stayed on my first ever trip to Japan! The owner and staff were really wonderful! I had some nice conversations with them and really felt at ease here. Oh, and one of the staff shared her no-bake cheesecake with me! (A real winner! 😊) The location right near the train stain was really convenient! Umbrellas free for guests to borrow👍👍 The common areas were very conducive to meet people! I had some very nice conversations with guests and staff here. The place was clean and well-kept.

Nothing major. Only thing I can think of is the pillow was too thin for me, so I put some clothes underneath it to make it thicker.

Great location, nice and helpful staff, clean room and washrooms, kitchen with space (even if I didn’t use it). And the other travellers were friendly and happy to chat which was nice because it’s not always the case in Japan. Overall, a really nice atmosphere and a great hostel! I was here only 1 night but would have love to stay longer!

More like observations: you can hang your stuff in the showers, which is great, would be even better to also have a place to lay the things that can’t be hang? Bed a bit small if you’re tall but confortable enough!

Welcoming and helpful staff. Near the train station (one stop away from Kyoto Station) and a lovely park where lots of people congregate for their (daily) walks, visits, exercise, etc. Cozy place for meeting people. Well equipped kitchen and dining area. Computers are available in the reception area, quite rare in hostels I've stayed in in Japan (I needed to download my photos from my camera into my external drive) where people can also meet. A place I will certainly stay in again the next time I visit Kyoto.

Really friendly owner and loved that the beds had full curtains! Also its right on the trainline but with headphones I had no issue!

From the name i thought it was 3 min from kyoto station but its 3 min train from kyoto station! Just so that you are aware! Google maps took me to a completely different location so use the booking and click directly from it! There is 0 room for luggage/ no storage so just make sure your bag isnt too big!

Cozy inn with friendly and reliable sweet staff. It has no lift so Mina helped me take my big baggage to first floor. Ground reception area has sitting area and a map with all details off areas you should visit in Kyoto. Its in walking distance to station. There's vending machine on ground floor. And you get in house slippers and they gave magic powder for stinky shoes hehehe. Mina helps in all ways . Essam is lovely owner who greets you with smile. Hospitality is on another level here. All facilities are nice. All the beds had curtains. I would definitely go back.

I liked the Heart warming staff ! And also its very convenient Price and place. Have a chat with the staff, they speak multiple languages and know a lot of stuff to do nearby the guest house. The place is near everything you need for a vacation, sento, bakery, konbini, train station and of course affordable and good restaurant. You also have a plenty of bus station nearby to get quickly to the best place of the town. Finally, the bed and the blanket was very very comfy ! Perfect to have a great sleep.

The train station station is very close so late at night and early at the morning you might wake UP due to the sound but you get use quickly thanks to the comfort of the bed.
