I had modest expectations for Haruka as the room was quite reasonably priced compared to some other onsen hotels in the area, but every thing about our stay here was exceptional. Upon arrival we were greeted by a staff member who spoke fluent English, which made the check in process and explanations about the hotel very easy. The hotel occupies a prime position in Dogo, up on the hill with a commanding view of Matsuyama city, but with a little "secret passage" foot entrance that pops you out right next to the Honten and covered shopping streets. Onsen was one of the best I've ever used, very nice inside with many places to wash and large indoor and outdoor baths. As it's up on the 8th floor, there is an amazing view from the outdoor bath. Highly recommend. Interestingly, this is one of the few onsens I've been to that doesn't have "no tatoos" signs up everywhere... Not sure if they are softer on that front or they just think it goes without saying. I covered mine anyway out of respect. Breakfast buffet was also great, wide spread of Japanese and western cuisine. Window seats offer a nice view of Dogo in the morning too. Room was very nice, just booked one of their "cheap" western style rooms. No view but we were really only in it to sleep. Bed was comfy. 11am check out meant we had time to go for a bit of a wander around Dogo after breakfast before moving on.

I didn't like having to leave, wish we had planned to spend longer in the area so we could stay another night.

The hotel offers perfect services, the staff is very nice and helpful, parking at the hotel is very convenient. The hotel has an excellent location with an amazing view of Dogo Onsen. It also has private elevator access to the main shopping district. The room was super clean and wonderfully designed. Everything was thought out to the last detail and had a very luxurious feel, from the balcony there is a great view of Dogo Onsen and all of Matsuyama with the castle and mountains in the distance. As part of the accommodation, you can visit the onsen on the top floor with an amazing view, or you can book a private onsen. We used this option and highly recommend it, everything was prepared, perfectly clean, an amazing experience. The rooms have a selection of home traditional clothing, including shoes, sorted by size. Live piano evenings in the hall are also a bonus. The stay at the hotel was perfect, both due to the professional approach of the staff and the great atmosphere. If you want to have a great experience during your stay in Matsuyama, definitely stay at this hotel.

EVERYTHING PERFECT

The hotel is modern but we were able to stay in the traditional Japanese style room - everything about the room was thoughtfully prepared (tea, drip coffee, robes and slippers for use when going to onsen, ice machine and small souvenir shop), clean and beds were comfortable. The location was very good, nice buffet dinner, live music performance at night and very kind staff. The rooftop onsen was excellent - it had a beautiful view of Matsuyama city, different soaking areas (outdoor and indoor with spa bubbles) and felt pretty private.

Nothing that was not liked about the property. Just one tip for guests navigating to parking lot… google maps directed us to the lower level shortcut entry from the shopping street which is not correct. To find the parking lot, it helped to pin the parking space between Dogo Miyu and Yamatoya Besso.

Excellent location, with direct access to the shopping arcade and Dogo Onsen. The hotel also has its own very good public bath. They provided lots of amenities and robes and footwear, which made visiting Dogo Onsen easy and convenient. Parking was provided just next to the hotel. Excellent, helpful and prompt service from the staff, who were able to communicate in English. We enjoyed the piano entertainment in the lobby in the evening as well. Decent, buffet style breakfast.

Building, room and facilities

1. Bit hard to get correct direction on Google Maps from tram station which takes you to the back of the hotel through a sharp incline and may be difficult for older folks with luggage. Wish there were a simple direction map send from hotel after booking. 2. Some junior staff members seem to have been trained that foreigners do not understand a word of Japanese. No effort was made to verbally explain how dinner is conducted except we were shown a laminated sheet with short English sentences. One confusing sentence was that steak will not be brought to the table was emphasized when we did not even know if steak is included in our booking. Senior staff were more experienced and conducted themselves well.

Perfect location close to onsen and shops and services, short walk from the tram and bus stops. They have elevators to the top that's a bit hidden, look for the little plaza with the cafe and foot bath place (behind the old dogo onsen). You'll need to buzz up the first time but after that you can use your room card. Service was top notch. Rooms with the balconies are worth it for the view. The sky spa/onsen is beautiful and big. They also have massage chairs in the changing areas. Tvs come with Chromecast. Lobby boasts vending machines with drinks (including alcohol) and the gift shop is cute. They had musical performances like piano in the evenings. Top notch.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this hotel in Dogo Onsen, within Matsuyama City, and it exceeded all my expectations. The location is strategically positioned in the center of Dogo Onsen, connecting the onsen shopping arcade and just a block away from the Dogo Onsen main building. It's incredibly convenient and provides easy access to the main attractions in the area. Do take the shortcut!^^ Upon arrival, a welcoming parking assistant who spoke good English guided me to park my rental car in the automated parking garage. Meanwhile, the concierge took care of my luggage and ensured that it was delivered to my room before my check-in. I was impressed by the level of service and attention to detail. The hotel itself showcases a modern decor with a subtle touch of traditional Japanese culture. The fusion of these elements creates a unique and inviting atmosphere throughout the entire property. I highly recommend taking advantage of the natural onsen located on the top floor. It's a wonderful way to relax and rejuvenate. Additionally, the buffet breakfast offered by the hotel is a great way to start your day. The staff at the hotel are incredibly well-trained and polite. They provide all the necessary information and make you feel truly valued as a guest. During my stay, I was informed about a special event called "Clarinet X Piano," which took place every Saturday in the hall at 8:45 pm. I consider myself lucky to have experienced this exceptional performance. The musicians were incredibly talented, and their music moved me to tears. It was an unexpected and memorable highlight of my stay. In conclusion, this hotel is more than just a five-star establishment. It goes above and beyond to provide an exceptional experience for its guests. From the convenient location to the excellent service, modern decor, and unforgettable performances, it truly stands out.

A traditional and standard grand hotel with superb service and extremely friendly staffs. The location is great, just 2-5 mins walking distance to train/bus station, shopping streets amd major spots. The onsen in the hotel, opening very early and till late night, free to use to hotel guests, is big, clean and with great view. I really enjoyed the moment I was alone in the onsen early morning.

Facilities are somehow aged, though kept quite well. The air-conditoner in the room is a little bit noisy.

Lovely Wa-modern design with artisan’s work exhibited in lobby showcases. Friendly attentive staff. Comfortable rooms, wonderful hot springs bath. Free piano concert in lobby during the evening - very nice! Perhaps the best location in Dogo Onsen - on a slight hill, but with an elevator that takes you right down to the main shopping/restaurant area. Parking onsite. I will definitely stay here again!

Nothing, we were thoroughly impressed!

The room is spacious. Whirlpool in the onsen is comfortable. The massage chair in the onsen changing room is an additional bonus. Easy walking access to shopping street and Dogo onsen through the elevator to B1 and then B2. The walkway is beautiful at night because of the ‘Black Night Art’.

A bit difficult to go by car to the main entrance of the hotel and it’s carpark because goggle map led our car to a small road near Dogo Onsen. Hotel should give a clearer instruction to the main entrance.
