The individual rooms meant you get to meet lots of other guests both locally and internationally. The location is on a quiet street, short walk from Samegai JR station (which unfortunately does not have an escalator) The Ryokan has been renovated beautifully, plenty of space to read, chat, eat and relax. The Ryokan has well thought out shared bathrooms, toilet and a small kitchenette with a kettle, small fridge and microwave available for use. The Ryokan is very clean with fresh towels provided everyday. The host Usui san cooks breakfast and dinner daily upon request, but you are free to buy food and eat it at the Ryokan.

Such a nice gem this place. Perfectly organised by the owner who makes great food too! (On reservation) The village is lovely and from our room we could see the little stream that flows through town. Also go and see the shrine, it has a nice set-up and a great look out over the village. We can highly recommend this place!

Pristine decorations throughout. Feel homely at communal ground. In a quiet and rural neighbourhood. We had a good sleep. Did not have a chance to try out the host food.

We went out to visit Hikone and came back late as being aware nothing much to do around Samegai.

We loved our stay in Samegai. The manager was so hospitable and went out of his way to make us comfortable. We had such a special time, we want to come back!

A great traditional guest house for travellers! The host is very kind, the place is beatiful and warm. There is a nice common area on the ground floor where you can eat and chat with other guests. The place is very clean. It is located in Samegai, which is a very small town, with no noise and very calm. Quite easy to reach Kyoto from here. Great place!

Very helpful and friendly staff. Gave me some tips for food and sightseeing spaces.

The town is very quiet in the evening. But you can get a train to Maibara very easily.

The old house had traditional japanese style and the house felt up to date with appliances and stylish interior. We very much enjoyed our stay in the countryside of Japan! Would definitely come again here. We also rented bikes for free and the host was so nice

The staff were really friendly, and helped me to park my car. All the facilities were clean and modern but the overall atmosphere of the guesthouse was traditional and cosy. I love the fact the rooms are named after local beauty spots.

Nothing. I enjoyed my stay very much.

The house was very rustic and homely. The nearby shrine and water spring that runs along the street was very scenic. Seems like a great place to go to relax.

It's a bit out of the way from most major tourist attractions in the region, like Hikone. Also the house is a bit creaky, so it was easy for guests to accidentally create noise.
