The resort sits on the beautiful glacial lake. Great for Winter and Summer activities. Our room overlooking the lake had a Japanese feel but was very spacious. The bed was very comfortable and the pillows were great! Although the bathroom was on the small side it was clean and functional. Ted the owner was friendly and happy to share his knowledge of the local area.
I missed not having a kettle in the room but we were free to help ourselves to complimentary tea, coffee and microwave downstairs. There is not a lot of dining options in the area but the local convenience store stocked a good variety of meals to choose from. The local restaurants were not open on our Tuesday night stay.

Friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. Spacious clean rooms with built in balcony and nice view. A good terrace downstairs with chairs, tables and parasols. Usually a nice breez, so it is comfortable to sit there in the evenings.
There was nothing I disliked, but a few adjustable camping reclining chairs on the terrace would have made it an even more attractive place to sit and reed books in the evenings. Unfortunately there are not many places within walking distance to eat in the evening. There is an Italian one 5 minutes walk down the road, which closes at 20.00. However there may be some a little farther away.

Ted and his team are delightful. We had a lovely time at beautiful, eclectic Lake Nojiri. It's a hidden gem close to more ski fields than 10 days could do justice. Breakfast was great and kept us going most of the day.
It would be good if there were a few more places to eat in Lake Nojiri town that were open in winter. Arrowhead is great, so is the Lamp and 'djuka' on the highway near the ubiquitous 7.11. Ted's team are about to trial dinner - best wishes with that as it would be a great addition.

There are many nice areas to sit and enjoy the view of the lake and mountains while reading, journaling, working, etc. The view from my room was beautiful. The bed was also very comfortable.
Likely due to my own lack of reading the details about the property beforehand, I was surprised to learn upon arrival that I would need to handle my own garbage and take it with me when I left the property. This was unfortunate since I was traveling to another location afterward and would need to keep my garbage with me for days. Next time I will definitely need to prepare better.

Very nice mountain hotel. The view is espectacular! The owner is amazingly nice and the breakfast is not a huge buffet style but for me is perfect. Bread made there, muffins, granola, cereals, fruits. Very complete and they give you a plate of fried or scramble eggs with salad and sausage.
Bathroom in the bedroom is small and old Japanese style. But it is to be expected in a normal mountain hotel.

All of the general amenities are solid and you have a nice view of the lake in your room.
Not a big deal, but there's a nice kitchen, and some sort of modest dinner option (similar to the breakfast) would have been nice because a lot of the eating places around were closed by sunset (at least in the time I was there in late August). Bring some dinner, go to the 7-11 or the local mom & pop convenience shop, or confirm beforehand what places are open or not.

Wonderfully warm and welcoming host, Ted san. Really fascinating character given his Western background but having lived in Japan for the majority of his life. We loved taking the kayaks out and exploring the lake and mini island. This was the main appeal of the resort. Room was both clean and spacious and had a beautiful view of the lake. Absolutely solid breakfast spread including multiple cereal options (which we Brits love!).

Located right on the edge of the lake with amazing views. Traditional Japanese style accommodations for rooms as well as big deck and sitting areas downstairs. Bikes, kayaks, and hiking trails all available to explore the area. Overall great place to relax and enjoy nature. Ted is a great host!
Some of the areas haven't realized their potential yet but not a reason not to stay!

Ted was a wonderful host. He was very friendly and provided us with lots of info on where to eat and what to do. He even booked our fishing trip and made sure that we were safely on board and communicated our needs to the Japanese speaking boat man. Kudos to Ted. The hotel has a beautiful view of the lake. It was clean and warm.

Of course the view of the lake that stretches out of my bedroom window! I also love the little seating area right next to the window, and the fact that all the rooms had ensuite facilities, which is uncommon for a Japanese-inn type building.
The bath was a little too narrow, and I'm only a little guy! Also, I was fortunate in deciding to rent a car as most of the eating establishments close out of the peak seasons.
