Such a comfortable hotel moments from the ferry terminal so therefore very easy access to naoshima, Teshima, Inojima and all the other "art islands". Room was incredibly clean and comfortable. We loved how it was divided into three sections: the room with extremely comfortable western beds, a sitting area in a screened in porch with beautiful carved wood flooring, and an open-air balcony. Such a treat! The biggest highlight of all however was free use of the sensational onsen attached to the property. What a massive treat. It's a wonderful place and an excellent example of Japanese public baths. Stupendous stay!
The purchased hotel breakfast was not at all to our taste. It was overly fussy, sort of yucky, and very 1980s. You can get a much better breakfast at the UNO PORT INN just down the road.

Very well designed hotel. I like the idea of having the vanity basin in the bedroom area as makes filling the kettle and getting water to drink easier. The seperate toilet and shower rooms are a great idea as well as the fans clear the air much faster than having one larger bathroom.
Large air conditioning systems are never as good as a small split system reverse cycle unit in each room. If the big systems are more efficient then I’ll take it as it’s better for the planet but if not give me air conditioning with more settings and a remote control I can use from the bed

Great location close to ferry terminal, train station, fabulous Onsen (which can be used for free) and a little beach! Nice and comfortable beds, spacious bathroom and small sitting area (with microwave and tea kettle). I enjoyed my stay very much and had some relaxing days and some days with a lot of sightseeing!
From the photos I got the impression that the lounge is more of a common sitting area and was a bit disappointed that the actual common space for eating is quite small (this probably is the result of mixing classic hotel and dorm-style accommodation)

This definitely was an unexpected surprise, and probably the most well thought hotel we've stayed in our trip (so far 5 hotels) Small details make a huge difference and this hotel had them. For example, free ice cream, paintings in the hotel walls made by people with special needs, and when we arrived my wife said jokingly we should have brought the UNO card game to play at the UNO hotel... And when I went in the room, they indeed had one to play! So as I said, details count Breakfast is superb, Beautifully served and delicious. The Onsen experience is wonderful, and the staff like in most of Japan, go over themselves to help. Closeness to the ferry is a pro, and the views are very very nice as well.

The overall hotel is very modern and artistic. It's a 3 min walk to a complimentary Onsen which is amazing. It's only 5 min walk to the ferry port to Naoshima or Teshima. The train station is 1 min walk. Overall, it is a great hotel away from the tourists. There's also a free Japanese tea bar and ice cream snacks! Co-working space is also available.
I booked a room for 2 pax because there's no single room rate (I am a solo traveller). I asked the front office Manager if I can be given free breakfast instead since I can't get a refund. She has said NO without seriously considering my request. Bad customer service indeed.

It was new and modern and bright with communal facilities such as a kitchen/dining area. The room was a good size with a really comfortable bed and all the amenities you needed. We didn’t chose the sea view room but I wish we had as they looked out over the harbour which would have been wonderful at night. As part of your stay you get free access to the nearby onsen which was a fantastic facility. I would highly recommend staying here if you are planning to visit Naoshima as it is right next to the port.

This is the most conveniently located hotel for traveling to the art islands if you don’t have a car. It is literally across the street from the JR Uno Port station and less than 10 minutes walk to the ferry and small transport boats. The dorm style rooms are clean, well-lit, and tastefully decorated. They provide a coat tree type structure with many pegs for you to hang things off of, and there’s even a little bedside table with a safe built into it. The dorm area was well ventilated and smelled nice, and there was plenty of space to move around. I really liked how the pajamas they provided felt - a cool-to-the-touch breathable material. The additional amenities provided by this hotel were wonderful. There is a community area with a variety of loose leaf Japanese teas, complimentary ice cream in the freezer, and Japanese snacks. The community area directly overlooks the port, and there’s a fantastic view of the water and some islands. The room came with an onsen ticket for the duration of the stay which was perfect after an active day of walking and biking around the islands. The breakfast is also excellent, featuring a lot of fresh, local produce.
I’ve stayed in a couple of these dorm style hotels in Japan, and I think this one felt the most luxurious, but keep in mind it is still a dorm style hotel if that’s what you booked which means the room is not light- or noise-proof. For sensitive sleepers, the communal etiquette of other guests will impact the experience. Of my two night stay, for the first night, my neighbors were very quiet and polite which made for an easily restful night, but my second night, somebody in the hall was slamming their curtain open and closed, constantly zipping and unzipping things, and didn’t turn the sound off on their phone. It’s a little annoying but not the hotel’s fault. Dorm style lodging just does very little to insulate from other people’s noisiness.

Great location, right next to train station and just a few minutes walk from the ferry port. Great sized room, with all the amenities. For a small town there are also lots of good options for local eating. Fantastic to have access to the nearby Onsen.
Breakfast times were very restricted (7/8/9am) and the breakfasts were a little mixed between asian and western but not wholy successful. Perhaps the option for a simpler breakfast would be good.

the rooms and grounds are new, clean, spacious and facilities are great. it’s near the terrific onsen with easy access through side of hotel (offers discount for daily pass) there’s a washer and drier for laundry and lounge for guests with tea/treats. it’s very convenient for ferries to islands. the town is great. balcony with sea view was sweet. I saw all the art islands in addition to Naoshima with ease
the cafe and restaurant is very oddly formal. it wasn’t comfortable to grab a drink or coffee, there’s no atmosphere and the food is a little over fussy. I did grab their eggs Benedict one early morning but tended to avoid it generally - there are good/better places in town.

Uno Hotel is newly built (maybe 2022 or 23?) so clean and well presented. Rooms are modern and spacious and the location is good being across the road from the bus / train station where we arrived on the Rainbow Bus from Okayama Station. The port with the ferry to Naoshima is also walking distance. The public bath was not open when we stayed but we looked in on the shower rooms and they were very nice (clean and modern). There is a communal lounge area with complimentary water and small snacks with a seating area which was a nice addition. There was an extremely nice Australian waiter in the restaurant who served us breakfast (breakfast was quite unusual sort off in-between Western and Japanese), he was very helpful and accommodating and pointed us in the right direction for the port after breakfast. The concierge recommended a local sushi restaurant for dinner which was great (Ikeda-ya 池田屋 寿司割烹店本店) and the hostess was absolutely lovely, though we were very fortunate to get a table with such a last minute reservation.
There is a room freshener used in the main lobby that is quite overpowering and seems unnecessary. The name is very similar to another hotel on the other side of the train / bus station and we went there first so make sure you have the name correctly in google maps to find the right place!
