Onsen is excellent quality . Bath changes everyday for men/women, try them both during your stay . Ranked by sauna Michelin some years ago, really deserves the title . Even some insects came nearby the bath, it is a real natural experience !! The gym has the latest machines from Technogym . View under the grass while running is incredible . Breakfast is made of local food . Very healthy, large choice . Environment and minimalist architecture of the building make is very natural and made me forget about city life for a few hours . Wood smell everywhere in the hotel . I wonder if is natural or artificial . But very nice smell ! Staff could speak good English . You can book a taxi back to tsuruoka station for 1200 yen .

A bit far away from the train station. A shuttle service would be great . Dinner plan is a bit pricy over 5000 yen for a vegetarian meal, I think it is not reasonable .

Excellent staff, smooth check in and extremely clean. The breakfast is worth the upgrade and is made with quality local produce. I particularly enjoyed the stewed aka-kabu (red turnips) and kan-dara miso soup. The bath and sauna facilities were also nice with iridescent tiling and basic amenities.

I hoped as a spa hotel there would be a few more basic amenities such as toners or lotions available, though most guests seemed to have brought their own anyway.

A stylish, comfortable and relaxing hotel, with a fantastic outdoor onsen - perfect for rejuvenating in after the walk up Haguro-San on a cold and snowy day. There's a library, too, to spend time in, and other public areas. Because the property's on the edge of town and surrounded by rice fields, there a feeling of space which can be hard to find elsewhere in Japan, with good views of the mountains when the weather's clear. Note that you're about a 25-minute walk from the train station, but a taxi - for about 890 yen - will take you there, and the friendly, eager-to-please staff. will call you one when you're headed back there or elsewhere. The inclusion of local beef on the breakfast menu was a nice touch, and there are plenty of vegetarian options.

Food in the restaurant in the evening was a touch on the pricy side - with a sobering mark-up on local sake - but good. The hotel's sake bar doesn't open until 9.30, and we'd opted for early nights during our stay, but it looked cosy. A self-service sake bar opens much earlier, with different numbers of samples available for set prices. We didn't try it either, on account of the onsen winning out!

Beautiful hotel in the middle of rice fields, in a very peaceful area. Nicely located to visit Dewasanzan and the magnificent countryside around. Very welcoming and professional staff. The bedroom was spacious, quiet and very nice. Beautiful and very relaxing outside baths... and a very good restaurant. A very good choice indeed to explore this area of Japan.

Maybe a bit more western food at breakfast (just toasts and marmelade would be a plus..)

We stayed only one night as the conclusion of our trip in Yamagata prefecture. People from Tsuruoka are the kindness and it was confirmed by the staff of this hotel that did everything they could to make us happy. As being vegan, they prepared a special breakfast for me which was delicious. We had to leave early in the morning and they prepared it before the opening of the restaurant which was lovely. The hotel is beautiful, the room was very spacious. The onsen is amazing as well. We had a great time and we will definitely come back! Thanks again.

View was significant! The air was wonderful and the bookworm vibe in the hotel is fabulous. The breakfast area was an open area for guests to enjoy the view clearly, but the heat in summer….

Except the hotel’s dining area, there’s nothing to shop for food nearby. It’s not a good choice to walk around during night time. Onsen was a small one. The view was nice, but hotel didn’t supply facial care products (unlike the decent onsen hotel) so be aware of this.

It is a great hotel. The rooms have enough space, beds are super comfy. The hotel itself is just beautiful. The staff are awesome. We actually were late for the check out (thought it was at 11, but it is at 10) and we were sitting in the breakfast room, until the staff found us (around 10:40!) and told us we are late haha. They didn't extra charge us! The parking is free and outside. The Onsen is awesome. They give you face lotions etc. when you check in which are so nice.

The wooden design matches the environment perfectly. Once step in the hotel, we feel very comfortable and relaxing. The view of our room is great that see the snowy mountain. The Onsen is clean, with relaxing view and is included free, with free spacious and convenient carpark. Very nice dinner and breakfast. Highly recommended.

I enjoyed the unique architecture of the hotel and its location in the middle of farmland, although it location limited access to the train station and outside places to eat.

When we got there, we asked about having dinner at the hotel, but they didn’t have any sittings left. Fortunately, there was a great tonkatsu restaurant within 15 minutes’ walk.

Breakfast spread was adequate and I like the idea that the hotel provides breakfast spread sourced locally. Al Fresco seating is available which allows guests to enjoy the views of the hotel. Room was spacious and comfortable

The onsen is just so-so. Nothing to shout about.
