I really think this hotel deserves a better rating (yet we were lucky it was rated lower than it deserves, and we could book it last minute for the New Year's. It feels like it has this rating because of subpar wi-fi, but it is not the most important thing on vacation, after all! It is a historical place - the first resort here was built in the 1930s, and there are some abandoned structures on the territory, but all in all the grounds are just great - lots of space for walking and a great position for watching the sunset. The staff was wonderful, the New Year celebration was very festive with huge campfire, open-air dinner, live music and impressive fireworks. The deluxe room was cosy (not new, but well renovated) - with a great view from the terrace. At night we could see hippos on the lawn in 10 m from our window! It is also ideally located for taking a boat trip to Crescent Island when you can walk with giraffes and zebras. All in all, it's a great place!

Wi-Fi connection was not stable.

It met our expectations and went beyond. I could give it a greater number than 10. Wonderful view, zebras and waterbucks roam around in the day time and hippos in the evening. I specially like to thank Samuel for his wonderful sense of responsibility. He arranged the transfers and entertainments and closely was following it. Food was delicious and the staff like all the Kenyans we met were kind, helpful and friendly.

Don’t find it as a negative point, but I wish when it came to animal human interaction in the garden, the expectation was to ask the guests to step back and animals could keep their national moves. I believe we were the ones in animals habitat and as a guest not only I didn’t mind but also I would appreciate if animals came first. And I hope they entirely replace the plastic bottles with the glass ones.

Staff going above and beyond in every interaction with all guests. Exceptional levels of service and in particular celebrating my father's 80th birthday with a wonderful cake and fanfare. A big thank you to the team. You made the stay very special. Asante sana.

Having nature/wild animals so close to us was a beautiful and interesting experience, the air was very clean, the staff were very friendly and seemed to know intuitively what we wanted. We felt really bad checking out, and hope to return soon.

There was a slight problem with the plumbing which did not really impact our stay as such. The tour guide for the boat safari needs to be more proactive in providing information and not have to be prompted all the time, but he was kind and courteous nonetheless and made sure we had enough time to take pictures of the various animals.

Location is amazing. Right on the lake. Very nice setting. Wild animals roaming around the property. Staff is very friendly. Good breakfast and lunch with a wide variety of food options. Restaurant facing the lake with a great view.

Though it has some charm, and one can see it had better times, the property is old and maintenance could be better. Rooms were not remodeled for a long time, which negatively affected the experience. Pricing is high for the quality of the accommodations, but the atmosphere and ambiance can compensate for those who don't expect too much from the room.

Really enjoyed our 2 nights here. Large room, patio and great restaurant and bar. THE STAFF WERE AMAZING 😻 especially ISAAC the Masaii boy whom my husband really bonded with! So fun watching the monkeys 🙈 in their lush gardens as well as the animals.

This place needs a 5 gallon water dispenser in their lobby or restaurant to reduce plastic waste. We were always thirsty and I hated having to use plastic water bottles. Raise the room rates a few shillings or charge a bit but stop with all the plastic bottles!

The location was beautiful and it was spectacular to see the animals grazing on the property. The staff was wonderful, accommodating, and helpful beyond expectations. The property is worth it because of its staff, amongst other things. A shout out to Mr. Kamal, the manager at the location. He, as well as the other staff members, made our stay memorable.

Aspects of the property need an upgrade and renovation. The swimming pool had broken tiles, seemed neglected, and the children's pool was essentially non functional. The linen and sun beds need to be changed. Generally, the funiture was old fashioned, and hence, the property could do with a general upgrade.

Overall we had a great, relaxing, fun family stay. It was such a great location, with lovely views of the lake and animals all around. An easy place to stay with kids. Enough to do and see, while also being very good for relaxing. And the staff were all so friendly and wonderful. We loved our stay and would return.

I think the food could be better: in particular improving the desserts and pasta bar would be easy fixes. Breakfast was generally much better than dinner.

The staff are absolutely amazing. Resourceful , pragmatic, they made sure I got what I needed to make my stay comfortable. John went out of his way to secure me the boardroom and ensured there was a dedicated internet router so I can do my conference call seamlessly. When my power adapter broke, he replaced it. For all that could have gone wrong, they had it figured and fixed. Amazing…

It’s quite an old property; and I love the vintage feel but the bathrooms will need renovation.

Quite a good hotel. But there is not much to say more. There should be animals on site (zebras), but they were hiding. Only monkeys and birds were well visible. Hyppos come out at the dark and then it is not allowed to walk in the garden alone. Also they are not well seen in the dark from a distance.

The shower drain was slow in our room.
