Amazing close encounters with wildlife - extraordinary location. Food was diverse and catered for vegetarians. Friendly and welcoming staff members. Reception staff at Salt Lick worked hard to solve problems which we felt had been created by Taita Hills Management. Great service from game drivers. Lovely walk with rangers.
Felt let down by management at Taita Hills which oversees Salt Lick. Eg Charged $35 park fee per person/day despite email day-before saying it was $30; several guests annoyed by charging for "complimentary" soft drinks. Their failure to communicate with driver team our agreement to be ferried to SGR (at great expense) lead to us being dumped at station facing 3 hour wait. Book a private taxi! Getting free shuttle to/from Taita Hills eg for lunch was difficult given number of guests. Expensive Night drives involved numerous vehicles with flash lights tearing around park in vain, disturbing wildlife with little/no benefit to passengers.

You don’t have to go on a safari drive - you can just chill and the animals come to you. We all loved the underground tunnel that leads you close to the watering hole which gives you (and your pictures) a unique angle. But most of all we loved the staff, especially the dinning room staff. Everyone was so friendly and nice - and they told us they are genuinely happy because the management allows them to freely interact with the visitors. It does add magic (and authenticity).
The food was a bit boring (we stayed for 3 nights so maybe that’s why) and the quality was fine (but not great). We had our own driver but otherwise it’s a headache to go to the other hotel for lunch

Best part of this lodge is the staff that works there. From the moment we arrived they did everything they could to make us feel welcomed! We had such a difficult time getting there due to unrelated matters. We arrived late, hadn’t eaten anything all day and we were afraid we would miss dinner. Our way to the lodge was a long dust road. Driving it at night made for a mysterious and adventurous drive. The entrance to the lodge was beautifully lit and upon arrival we were met by the most understanding staff. They prepared a table just for us even if the kitchen was closed. So there we sat, in a dimmed restaurant with buffalos drinking right next to us. We had read some reviews beforehand which mentioned the rooms were outdated which I don’t agree with. The rooms were unique and cozy. Some mentioned the beds were hard. Come on kings and queens, are we here to sleep in or explore the beautiful surroundings? Besides; firm beds are good for you. To us the lodge was absolutely perfect! We had the best time here and grew to, dare I say, even love the staff and the serene atmosphere.
The only thing we disliked was they way they communicated with us over WhatsApp and email which was nearly non-exciting. But that goes for all our accommodations throughout our travel in Kenya.

The water hole view from the room was definitely the highlight. Was able to see zebras in the morning and elephants at night. Also some monkeys and antelope during the day. The staff was very attentive and friendly. Special shout out to Naomi who checked on me during my stay after I told her I wasn't feeling well upon arrival.
All meals are buffet style. Although they have many options that are tasty, the resort is so packed, you should go as early as possible to avoid overcrowding while getting food. You also have to travel to the sister resort for lunch.

The view, location
They dont follow there own principle to reduce water . There is a message in the bathroom to keep your towels hanging to reduce water, (on the grounds means pick up for laundry according to the sign) they still change them all every day, even if you tell them not to they come back when you are not in your room to do it anyway… Then take the notice out of the rooms. Also animals are far away in raining season, why not offer longer morning drives and take breakfast on the way instead of sticking to only 2 hr gamedrive and explaining that the animals have moved, move with them 😅

The property it’s so beautiful that I don’t know where to start from to describe it. The location is one of the most epic I have ever seen. I have no words to describe the beauty around and the fact that where animals like elephants coming just right in front of the resort to drink water . Full of birds singing and the view from the bar was sensational. The room was so clean and spacious with one of the best view I have ever seen from my window. Wow 😍 Food was amazing , was a buffet style and a lot of variety . Again just perfect . The staff was super great, smiling , welcoming and always caring for the guests. We were also having lunch at the sister hotel Taita hills sancutuary resort and we loved that cause we could also use the facilities over there for example the swimming pool while you were waiting for the game drive . Our game driver philomen was the best driver ever. We saw so many animals and he was making sure we were capturing the perfects moments on our camera. We stayed 2 nights and we didn’t want to leave but only stay more in this part of paradise that we were so glad to experienced and we will never forget. We will definitely coming back to make more memories in this dream lodge .
Everything was sensational.

The location it was just beautiful ! The food was amazing ! The staff were kind and welcoming ! The game drives were awesome !
I wasn’t told about the sanctuary fee beforehand if that would have been made clear before that would have been great.

The location of this property is in the middle of the national reserve. I could see animals right from my room. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was very delicious. The game rides were great. We managed to see so many species of animals ranging from the Lion, Hyenas, Elephants, Buffalos, Gyraffs, and many others. We also enjoyed the spar.
The Google Maps route to the property is a little misleading. When you drive from Voi Town, there is a sign indicating that you should branch to the property only to realize that it's still a few kilometers away. This should be addressed.

The meal selection options were many, with fresh ingredients and tasty. The rooms were cozy and well maintained. The staff with the exception of one were friendly and very accommodating. The animal observation deck and the views were spectacular and we saw a wide range of wildlife throughout our stay. The game drive offered by the hotel was also quite enjoyable.
The treatment by a security guard at the entrance to the reception could have been better. He insisted that we could not stay at the Salt lick Lodge with our children because children were not allowed. This was not only false information, he was also quite abrasive in his manner. It was not a nice feeling especially as he was the first interaction with the staff and for a moment we were made to feel unwelcome.

Staff were exceptional, so kind and caring, and every single one always had a smile on their face! Special shout out to Isaac! The bungalows were spotless and spacious, beds so comfortable. We were lucky to get visits from the elephants both days with one coming right up to the restaurant window! The food was amazing too. Truly an amazing experience from start to finish.
We unfortunately didn't see much on our game drive, but that's not the hotels fault!
