Seven Terraces was quite a special place to stay. The heritage vibe is quite lovely but it wouldn't mean much without the staff - everyone was so welcoming, friendly and helpful. The room was the terraced duplex suite, Stewart St side, bed downstairs, living room and single bed upstairs. It's a luxurious space to retreat to in the hottest part of the day - and a pool downstairs with free tea and snacks in mid afternoon. The hotel has done a fantastic job of updating the rooms with mod cons (including two aircon units, multi plug and USB sockets) while preserving the old world charm. The location is fantastic, right in the heart of the old town - a short walk to so many delicious restaurants Including the hotel's restaurant Kebaya) and an easy Grab ride everywhere else. I was concerned the room might get a bit loud, being on the Stewart St side with an open air bar around the corner, but there's wooden shutters and then doors between the bathroom and the bed and it was all surprisingly quiet. I even fell asleep in the middle of fireworks.

Hotel is located in a quiet back alley steps away from hustle and bustle of Chulia Street, one block away from Little India. Beautiful, traditional Chinese interior design, furniture and room decor. Inside the rooms all modern conveniences including well functioning AC, Wi-Fi, TV, refrigerator and safe. Charming, helpful staff that greet and bid farewell to guests outside the front door. Quick help with luggage and efficient room cleaning. Daily snacks and tea at poolside at 3pm. Top-notch Kebaya restaurant on premises (advance reservations needed for dinner). Breakfast is served a la carte in one of the beautifully decorated rooms downstairs. Special thanks go to Nurul for her smiling face and for professional attention to all our needs.

Just a suggestion to perhaps offer more breakfast choices, such as yogurt, cereals and dim sum.

We loved the traditional design and antique furnishings in this historic "Nyonya" style building. It was in a quiet back road in a central location with lots of cafés and restaurants nearby. After walking through busy and hot Georgetown, it felt like coming back to a calm, cool sanctuary. The staff were very friendly, happy to chat and helpful.

There was a lot of attention to detail with the antique room decor, but the cheap plastic bins didn't fit in. Due to the old building and the way the bathroom was added, the hand shower was in an odd location. Cleanliness in the bathroom could have been better. We loved our stay at the Seven Terraces!

The staff are very responsive to requests and very friendly. Location was great and walking distance to many food places. The Argus Apartment where we stayed was very spacious.

Prefer if the bathrooms had showers in cubicles so that the entire floor did not get wet when you shower. With the vanity and the loo in the same space, everything got wet. In the bathroom with the bathtub - the floor in front of the vanity would be completely wet after showering. Did not except the wood stairs to the upper bedroom to be so steep. Will be good of the description of the room can say that there is no shower in the upper bedroom.

Hospitable, knowledgeable and helpful staff at all levels (including cleaning staff, restaurant and bar staff, museum/gallery and antique shop staff, front office managers and staff) who were able to answer questions, respond to requests and make suggestions which were both informative and helpful. Returning after a number of years, we found that the premises continue to be well-appointed and maintained, offering and delivering a level of excellence expected of a boutique-style hotel - but with many special touches which improved the experience.

The first time we stayed here, we were located at the rear of the property overlooking the school ground and church which proved to be delightful. This time, we were situated at the front of the hotel, overlooking Stewart Lane, still a lovely location. We noticed, however, that there was some noise from the street, sometimes into the wee small hours, which often woke us in the night. When we looked out the windows, we found that there were often people gathering at the bend in the road immediately outside. A heavy sleeper wouldn't notice but if you're a light sleeper, like me, ear plugs might help. A few comfier chairs would be nice near the pool. Despite these minor blips, the hotel is beautiful and we will be back.

The Seven Terraces is very well positioned for exploring Georgetown. The staff were very helpful and attentive. Staying here was like stepping back in time (as it has been faithfully restored), which appealed to us. The hotel restaurant is good if you want to treat yourself.

More choice for breakfast would have been appreciated. The menu offered a traditional Malaysian option, an Indian option, a Western option, pancakes and one other which I cannot remember. However, the staff were accommodating and prepared an omelette on request. It would have been nice to have some cereals and/or pastries as on option if you did not want a cooked breakfast.

This a totally unique experience. It is inadequate to call Seven Terraces a 'hotel'. It is so much more. It is really a trip into the past, to experience a sample of Penang Nyonya culture, but with all the modern conveniences we need for our comfort nowadays. All the furnishings, the layout, the design, everything shows great care and attention to detail, recreating a space that truly feels unique and authentic. The evening dinner in the Kebaya restaurant was equally amazing. The choice of food on the menu and the methods of preparation were truly tempting and really delicious. I can recommend the Satay starter, also the Rendang Croque Monsieur. For the main course, the Prawn Geng was delicious, and the Hong Bak Lamb shank was 'melt in the mouth'. The grilled eggplant was my favourite vegetable. They offered a 'side dish' of Soft Shell Crab which we tried. We all thought it was the best dish of all, and deserving of more than just 'side dish' status! The service at the meal was very good, and all the staff were very helpful and friendly. Mr.Omar at the front desk was especially accomodating to our requests. We will definitely be back in future.

WE had a little trouble getting the TV in our room to work at first, but finally figured it out. The maintenance crew are very helpful too.

This is a beautifully rebuilt/renovated property by Mr Chris Ong who had the taste & wisdom to transform these Terraced shop houses into superb boutique hotel accommodation, whilst retaining the historic details & furnishing them with the appropriate antique furniture & decor. I love the fact that he wants his collection of antiques to be used & not stuck behind ropes & glass in a museum setting. The staff & level of service were excellent & I particularly liked having the complimentary afternoon tea relaxing near the pool. Breakfast was good & having a coffee pod machine in the room was a winner too (the staff supplied us with a teapot of milk at our request & refreshed it daily without prompting.) The room was large & comfortable (duplex suite with bedroom upstairs) great idea to have an extra toilet & wash basin upstairs (on enclosed section of balcony) I could go on & on…

Nothing … it was all good

A smaller boutique hotel will always win for me over a large hotel. Seven Terraces is just the right size in a perfect location of Georgetown where everything is just a walk away. The staff were very helpful, in particular the lobby staff and a lovely young man who served us in the restaurant and a few breakfasts. Pool was great. Especially sitting alongside eating delicious sweet treats for afternoon tea. Worth visiting the restaurant onsite for dinner. Truly enjoyable.

A different soundtrack playing at breakfast would be a good idea. Heard the same half a dozen songs every morning. Unfortunately served an empty tea pot and dirty cups on one occasion at afternoon tea.

Placed right in the busy streets, but tucked away in an alley for privacy. There is a lot to explore around. A well designed, traditional themed space with modern amenities, The place is a duplex, with good space to lounge in room or to entertain guests. The aesthetic is beautiful, and neat. The courtyard and pool areas are well lit with natural light. The staff are friendly. Service is prompt. Breakfast is decent, good to have if one is not out exploring Penang local food.

Same issue with all other Penang spots, there is very limited parking. The hotel may have up to 5 spots, but it is a first come, first served basis. Since it is in a tourist spot, you may be disturbed by loud motorbike/car noises even past midnight, or when people talked loudly on the streets.
