the location is perfect for spending time in George Town. it’s right on the edge of the hustle and bustle and sandwiched between two temples means you really feel the cultures around you, especially when the call to prayer echos around. There’s a great hawker and loads of delicious food options nearby too. The staff were really helpful and there was free filtered water and tea and coffee. We really loved our stay and would stay again if we go back to Penang

We booked the Superior double expecting it to be the downstairs room with terrace but it wasn’t and were a bit disappointing at first. The descriptions are a bit misleading and if this was updated to show that you can book a superior double with or without outdoor space it would remove this confusion. The property did kindly offer to switch us in the middle of our stay which was nice of them but we liked our second floor room and decided to stay rather than unpack and repack to swap rooms.

the location is strategically located in the walking distance of every interesting places in Georgetown

no elevator and you need to climb a very narrow stairs if you are given the room upstairs. no iron inside the room and need to go to a common area outside to iron your clothes. there is a old graveyard at the back of the hotel and it was quite scary ambiance at night

Likes: - the vibe of the hotel, the rooms, the deco of the whole place was lovely! Exactly how I imagine it to be! Lovely! - the staffs were generally very courteous and helpful. - the location was perfect! Right smack in the middle of the best area. Walking distance to nearly everywhere we wanted to go. - rooms deco has different themes, love all the 5rooms we had. The family room was very huge. - bathroom is clean in general, although some rooms have smaller bathrooms.

Can be better: - the ground floor room has a sliding door without lock, sorry we do not think it is safe for our lady friend. We swapped the room between ourselves. - the fans in the room were very useful, but the speed is fixed, haha. If you can adjust it, it will be perfect! - as mentioned by others, the morning prayer, but I actually find it quite manageable. I could fall back to sleep. - the new wing is just above an eatery, can be quite noisy when they are cleaning up at nite. There is also the oil smell. But all is good once they are closed by midnite. - some mozzies...

i was ok with it but it can be an issue mosque is right behind the hotel, the morning 4:45 or 5:45 am prayer lasts for a good 30/40 mn and will wake you up, it is loud because it is next door

Everything about the room is good, especially the bathroom. The shower was really good and satisfying. It felt as if I was taking a bath in a heavy rain. Because the water pressure was strong, and the hot/cold ratio was easy to adjust, you can feel your soul cleansed away with the dirt.

Security is very concerning, especially since my room was on a different building from the lobby, no one was there to prevent outsiders from entering. The access to the rooms was controlled via access door but since some other guest entered without closing the entrance door, it was left open for trespasser. Several people tried to open the door to my room, on several different occasion. One time I open to check, they pretended to ask about premise. To the hotel owner, install a self-closing door.

It's balinese style hotel. The staffs are friendly.

The bathroom/toilet is small & the room also small. No space to put our luggages. The location is not very good. Hard to find food. No restaurants nearby.

A lovely Heritage House converted into a hotel. We were in the original building in a Superior Room with sliding door, which had a small outdoor sitting area. The location was close to everything. Lots of choices within walking distance for breakfast or dinner. The staff were wonderful and friendly. They went out of their way to help us when we had a problem with our credit card company, and were having difficulty contacting them. Thanks to the staff, our problem was quickly resolved. The lady who runs the place was great. We would stay there again.

No fridge in the room

It was a really beautiful boutique hotel, I loved the architecture. The bed was super comfy and the room was well decorated. The bathroom was very nice, they included some disposable toothbrushes. There was a kettle, water and premium coffee included.

There is a mosque next door and coupled with the single glazed windows, it was very loud several times a day. The late check out policy is very strict and expensive. No fridge. I don't know if they had a washing machine available to use.

Interesting, well designed rooms in a beautiful building. The loft rooms are spacious and pleasant,however, if you are not good with stairs or have balance issues, consider other rooms. Loved being able to hear the call to prayer from the local mosque,beautiful, spiritual, and evocative.

No fridge in room, but a halal only fridge(no alcohol) in reception that guest's can respectfully use. Personally, I would have liked own fridge option, but hey ho.
