Very clean room with an excellent bed. Daily housekeeping - they do an excellent job. Good shower with plenty of hot water. The room had a good smart TV with live channels too. I never used the pool (but sat poolside) and it looked clean. The premises are well-kept and attractive. It's quiet at night, no street noise. The area is walkable to many historic Centro sites, plenty of food, drink, convenience stores pretty close -- 5-10 minute walks. I had a relaxing week here and would definitely (and hope to!) return.

Only issue I had was my electronic key having to be reprogrammed twice. Staff resolved it quickly.

It’s cute and comfy. We walked everywhere from the location. If you have a car, lots of parking. Quiet location yet close to so much. Our room was modest - we were there for two weeks - yet, all of our needs were met. It was great to have the restaurant there, yet lots of other choices closeby. A grocery store a couple blocks away, a pharmacy the same. Several little hole-in-the-wall shops closeby. Having the pool was great. Different sitting areas spread around. Staff were always great. The place is not soundproof. We would hear guests talking from outside or in hallway late night and early morning, but not a problem for us. We closed the window and bring ear plugs if that is a concern. Highly recommend. Great value! Friends we met recently have been coming to the restaurant for breakfast for years for the chaquiles. We will be back!!

Just the late night and early morning voices outside and hallways.

The hotel is in a great location which we loved. The decore is very cute and trendy, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. It was very affordable which was one of the main reasons we booked there. Also, there is a pool and on-site parking which are a big plus. The on-site restaurant is known by the locals for being really good although we didn’t have a chance to try it.

This is more of a budget hotel rather than a luxury hotel so that’s where my expectations were at. However, the shower only had hot water for a minute or two if before running out. I think that should be fixed. Additionally, it was noisy at times with lots of people passing outside our door, we heard kids crying, dogs barking etc. I was still able to sleep but I wouldn’t consider this a quiet hotel.

Hotel Isabel is my go to place when in Guadalajara. It’s a great family and pet friendly hotel in a good and fairly quiet location within walking distance to many nice restaurants and supermarket. I have stayed there numerous times for both long and short stays. And yes it is an old hotel but not without charm, and I can honestly say they are constantly making improvements and updating the rooms for comfort of guest. since my last visit they have done a remarkable job of updating the rooms above restaurant, with all new furnishings, dark out curtains and convenient charging receptacles beside the bed, new flat screen T.V. They have a very friendly staff from top to bottom and always willing to help you out. The cleaning staff are wonderful (don’t forget to tip them) they work hard for our comfort. The rooms are regularly fumigated for pest this I know first hand from my extended stay. The restaurant is okay I would normally have my coffee and breakfast there but many other choices within short walk. Rooms in back along parking lot can be a little loud in mornings when people are starting their cars and chirping their alarms.

I cannot think of anything I don’t like about the property. I have always enjoyed my visits there and highly recommend it. But I will say if you are looking for 5 star convenience then this is not the place for you.

When I arrived at Hotel Isabel, I was very pleasantly greeted by Edgar at the front desk. Very nice and easy to understand. He offered to speak English with me, which we did a few times, but we spoke mostly in Spanish. He was very helpful. Daniel the bellman kept my dog as I moved my car into the parking area near my room. He took my luggage and showed me what I needed to know. We laughed about how my Spanish is better with Tequila, he asked if I wanted a Margarita, I accepted. He brought me a margarita from the restaurant. How cool right? I had previously driven from Huasteca Potosino seeing the waterfalls and swimming areas and my car was very dirty. Daniel arranged to have it washed, also very cool! Gerardo and Edgar at the front desk were very helpful throughout my week there. My housekeeper was also very nice and efficient.

Water pressure in the shower could have been better.

I was a wonderful throwback to the days of motel accommodation of the 1960s and 70s. The furniture reflected as well as the simple and small pool. Good wifi and a decent cafeteria. The facilities are updated so no discomforts from that era.

Only one thing they should fix...if they can. Occasionally, a foul smell emits from the bathroom. The simple solution is to shut the bathroom door.

The facilities were very nice, the staff very helpful, and the hotel was completely dog friendly (there were about 10 other dogs staying there!). The neighborhood is great - quiet, wide, tree-lined streets with plenty of dog-friendly cafes and other dog owners around.

There were consistent problems with the internet and it didn't reach to our room. We understand the staff were working on it, and they allowed us to work from the restaurant area where signal was better. My mistake, I booked a pool view room, and of course people were loudly enjoying the pool. Staff did shut this down about 9-10pm each night though. For a quieter room, don't book a "pool view".

One review called Hotel Isabel a "a hidden jewel." That sums it up. They gave me one of the happiest months of my life as I studied Spanish at a school downtown. The staff were outstanding in friendliness, warmth and professionalism. After studying hard all day, it was a perfect refuge.

I can't think of a thing. Well, the Cremora packets in the restaurant were sometimes stiff. No, it was "mi pequeno paraiso."

It's exactly what it says it is a 3 star hotel in a great location. It also has a pool and a restaurant on the property as well. All the staff we met we very friendly and always greeted you when passing. There are a range of rooms and parking around the back. It's a great location with a very short walk to a lot of food and drink choices. Also good for taxis, didi and uber if you don't feel like driving. We only ate in the restaurant once but like everywhere else they were friendly and the food was tasty.

Nothing bad to report

Hotel Isabel is a great place to chill for a short or extended stay. I’ve stayed here numerous times. No it’s not 5 star but you’re not paying for 5 star. I’m shocked at some of the reviews I’ve read, mostly from Americans about this places shortcomings for as an American I know what’s available in the U.S for this rate. Hotel Isabel is clean, secure, well located and relatively quiet for Guadalajara, an overall great value. Great staff, well maintained. family and pet friendly, so yes you will hear dogs barking and kids playing so deal with it.

I cannot speak for all the rooms but bathrooms are somewhat small in the rooms along the back side of hotel, not so much a problem for solo traveler. also they could provide more seating and small tables around pool and bigger coffee cups in the restaurant
