The location is fantastic. It is in a beautiful and quiet area that is walking distance to the zocalo and many attractions. There are many cafes and restaurants close by, as well as a supermarket and pharmacy. The Frida Kahlo Museum is just a few blocks away, and a large park is also close by.

I would suggest to book the better rooms so that you can fully enjoy this place. I was quite disappointed in the room I booked, but fortunately was able to move to a much better room on the main floor, with a patio sitting area. I was very happy with this room as it had everything I needed, including a fridge, microwave, and a shelving unit and clothes hangers. The king bed was extremely comfortable and the Netflix was a nice feature for my nightly entertainment. The proprietors are wonderful people and very willing to help if necessary. I came down with a stomach bug during my stay, and Margarite was very kind and gave me an electrolyte drink. She also helped me decipher some prescription instructions, for which I was very grateful.

The staff were very accommodating and helpful. The linens were of good quality - in my experience lesser expensive properties have marginal linens, the bedding and towels were a nice surprise and elevated my comfort level. The shared patio and kitchen were delightful to take advantage of. The surrounding neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. Restaurants can be found within about a 5 minute walk and the Coyoacán plaza, artesian market and, a plethora of other restaurants to choose from are about a 15 minute walk. As a solo female traveler I felt very comfortable at the property and in the Colonia of Coyoacán.

The property is old but charming. The wall sockets are very old (I’d never seen this type before), some worked others not. The bathroom is very tight, the waterfall shower sprays everywhere including the ceiling, but it had warm water and everything one needs. The hairdryer worked intermittently. The window was openable, but the casing is not securely attached and moved within the frame during opening and closing. From the lobby to my room (with the shared patio) you climbed up one floor and down another which was part of the charm.

The location is fantastic. It is like having a home in Coyoacan! It is very easy to walk around and go for a coffee, a drink or a restaurant. The staff is extremely kind and helpful. They are willing to do as much as it takes to help you enjoy the stay (in my case, they waited for me until 4am in the morning and let me do the check in then so that I did not have to wait until the regular 3pm to rest after a long flight). So much appreciated!

The room was clean and the architecture of the building was very interesting, especially coming from an area in the US without many older buildings. We loved the courtyard in the middle of the building! I am glad we chose this location of the city as there was plenty to do in the area but it wasn't overwhelming with tons of people. The streets in the area were obviously well kept and it was amazing seeing the bright colors of the buildings and many plants.

it was a cute intimate property. I was traveling with friends and our rooms were in close proximity and there was a cute little courtyard in the middle where we could eat breakfast together every morning. I like that there was filtered water available throughout the property. I felt safe and secure in the properly and the facility was clean. I highly recommend the property.

it took quite some time to get hot water in the shower. the trick was to run the sink water first until the water was hot.

Margarita and Javier had been for us the most kind and helpful hosts. They did not count the time given to us, in so many ways... Advices and contacts for me to organize smoothly a difficult treck on a high volcano, support in my administrative procedures for the lost of my luggage upon our arrival. They also connected us with Cristobal, the most kind taxi driver, who organized for us at the cheapest rate, one day excursion to Teotihuacan, and an amazing air balloon flight at dawn over the pyramides... We had a real, beautiful connection with all of them. The beautiful and spiritful house, has been for us a home away from home. It is ideally situated, in a very calm street, yet at a walking distance of everything... Museum, Parks, market, restaurants, center... We have enjoyed so much our stay in their place, and in this area of the city, and it will be in the future our landing place in Mexico. From the heart, thank you so much. See you soon.

We stayed at Chalet Del Carmen Coyoacan during our recent trip to Mexico City. We have traveled around the world and visited many countries and found this chalet one of the best places we’ve stay, if not the best. It’s located in a great area of Coyoacan with many outside cafes, restaurants, local Mercado, grocery store and just blocks from the Frida Kahlo Museum. The subway is just a short walk away as well. The place is absolutely beautiful and is safe and secure. You could not ask for a better host’s , both very friendly, attentive and accommodating to our needs. My boyfriend became sick and they were quick in offering him electrolytes and a thermometer for monitoring his temperature. When we return to Mexico City we will be sure to stay at Chalet Del Carmen again.

lovely room & great location- just around corner from The Blue House & 10min walk to Coyoacan town centre. Good wifi. Friendly staff but not all spoke English- wasn’t a problem for me

I expected a better breakfast. it’s DIY with bread, fruit & jam left in communal kitchen. But found an amazing cafe near the Trotsky museum which did a lovely breakfast. Not cheap but I was staying during Day of the Dead so peak season

The neighborhood of Coyoacan, the quietness and cleaness of the hotel. The history of the place as it was the family home. Self service breakfast which was convenient .

The room was super small and a bit claustrophobic. On top of other rooms and at times noisy. Whilst a popular neighborhood in MC , it wasn't the best value considering how cramped the room and bath area was.

We really enjoyed Chalet Del Carmen. It completely met our expectations. We would stay there again and recommend it to others. Fortunately, the weather was nice, especially in the evenings.
