Swakopmund lies between the water and the sand with the Strandhotel overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Location and hotel are a welcome relief for the desert hardeened eye of the road rattled torurist. Swakopmund seemed to be the most „German“ town in Namibia. The Strandhotel is a relatively new hotel in Swakopmund with no dedicated pool; the pool ist the ocean and it offers seals, freshness, relaxation and of course the unavoidable the beach merchants. The rooms we booked were facing the Atlantic Ocean, one was a corner room with windows to each side: perfect! Thanks for the upgrade to this georgeous room. We actually felt like being treated like royals, although we looked stirred and shaken after 7 hours on Namibias roads. The staff actually made us really feel special. We used the excellent seafood restaurant and enjoyed the overboarding breakfast. We had to share some stuff with birds, but, hey, there was plenty of food, why not share... We also used the massage services with almost all massages being excellent, only 1 was lost in translation. Strandhotel provides a perfect place to start you stroll around the city and along the beaches. It is definitely not the most inexpensive option for a saty in Swakopmund, but doubtlessly worth staying. Recommendation: Yes; Value for money: yes, although upper range.

The location is amazing. It is the place to be if you're going to Swakopmund, with the beach literally on your front door. Hotel and rooms décor was very nice. Nice staff. Very good breakfast. The fact you have 3 of the best restaurants in town in the hotel is very convenient.

The AC in our room was not working. The hotel provided another room but the AC was not working either. I think it is a central machine for the whole hotel and it was off because they deemed that the weather was already cold. Well, it didn't ruined the experience (specially because of the other strong points), but it did spoiled it a bit.

There are not many things that one can dislike! The staff, both at reception and in all associated restaurants are top-welcoming and caring! Location is great, with direct access to the coast, and in waking distance to town center. The food in restaurants is good, and ww tried all 3 of the eateries. The laundry was done the same day, which is important for rambling travelers as we were during our Namibian tour.

I've travelled to 68 countries and nowhere have I had the breakfast choices that The Strand offered. It was incredible. The variety was unbelievable and everything was fresh and very tasty. Staff at the hotel could not have been more helpful and friendly. A wonderful stay. Thank you.

I can't fault anything in the hotel. It was outstanding.

The Strand Hotel felt like an oasis after coming from the desert…extremely welcoming staff everywhere, sumptuous yet cozy interieur, a extremely varied breakfast buffet with endless choices and 3 restaurants incl. outdoor & sea facing terras/bar in house - there was nothing we could ask for on top of that!

Breakfast is great Acitivities are great and they pick you up at the hotel We were on our honeymoon and they left a very sweet suprise in our room upon arrival! Price - quality = great!

Room was nice and comfortable. The view was nice and it was very pleasant to hear the ocean while we slept...very nice.

There's a fridge in the room, but for some reason there are no refreshments inside. Would also be nice to have a proper coffee machine like a Nespresso which is fairly common in hotels of this category.

The great access to the beach… the breakfast - lots of variety and the individual terrace space (great)

Even if the evenings were fresh, the AC weren’t always functional regardless of the automatic off when the slide doors were opened also the room service took a lot of time and lots of mistakes.

10:00 is rather early for standard checkout. We did not manage to make reservation at any of the hotel restaurants for dinner, had to eat outside or order room service.

We were in southern Africa for just over six weeks. This hotel was one of our three favorite hotels on this trip. I asked for an ocean view deluxe room and that is exactly what we got. It was a larger room than we expected and a wonderful view of the ocean and beach below the hotel
