Sunlit is an amazingly chill social hostel. Everybody just keeps extending their stay because its so good. For us Sunlit was the best and most social hostel we stayed in during our 6mth travel. The vibe is just incredible. Outsiders came to hang out and people who stayed there before kept coming back for pool or drinks. The self service bar gives a vibe of mutual trust and made us feel at home. It's not a party hostel - quiet time after 2300 - but a very chill place to hang out. There is enough space to be on your own, work, read a book or sleep 'cause you're tired from surf. They have spacious privates and comfy dorms with curtains, lockers, personal light, ac, etc. The showers have warm water and strong pressure and bathrooms are cleaned on a daily base. Outside there is a rooftopped space with lines for laundry. The staff is super helpful, invested and they feel part of the group of friends we made. Upstairs there is an open spaced rooftop chillout (with roof) where you can play darts, ping-pong and pool and there is a self service bar and sound system. They have a projector for movies (currently being replaced), a firepit and beanbags to chill. Downstairs is a clean kitchen with good and usable inventory, a fridge and room for storage of food. Also there is a big table where people can eat together. Directly opposite the hostel is a vegan/veggie restaurant, perfect for breakfast and lunch. You do need a scooter to get around, but I think that's convenient anyways, wherever you stay on the island.

Nothing.

Really enjoyed my stay here! The staff were all helpful and friendly. Quiet and peaceful tucked away from the busyness of the main tourism road area but close enough to the action. There’s a nice restaurant across the hostel perfect for brunch/lunch. If you don’t rent a motorbike, tuktuks frequently passed by the end of the road. Great WiFi connection and the solar panels worked well while other businesses in the area were impacted by the power interruptions that tend to happen on the island. A perfect balance between being a social and chill hostel - in the day, you’ll find guests working remotely or playing ping pong on the roof & in the evening, many people are playing pool, darts, ping pong, hanging out and drinking on the roof. Newly renovated bathrooms that the staff frequently clean were nice too.

I recently stayed at Sunlit Hostel and had a fantastic experience! The staff were incredibly nice and friendly, always ready to help with a smile. The internet was impressively fast, which made it easy to stay connected and get some work done. There were so many activities and things to do, both within the hostel and in the surrounding area, that I was never bored. From organized tours to social events, there was always something happening. The hostel offers great value for money, with clean and comfortable rooms at an affordable price. The common areas were well-maintained and provided a great space to meet other travelers. Overall, I highly recommend Sunlit Hostel for anyone looking for a friendly, fun, and affordable place to stay. I will definitely be coming back on my next trip!

Apparently, none

Sunlit hostel staff went well and beyond to make my first solo trip experience feel like home. I was only meant to stay here for 5 days and ended up staying for nearly a month!! From cooking dinners together, playing pool, trivia nights and giving us the best recommendations around town, Sunlit made it hard to leave Siargao. In particular, Via was extremely kind and would drop everything to make life easier for me around the hostel- she remembered my name from day one !! Also, Beth would make you feel so welcomed and comfortable by inviting you to all the social events. Beth also took me to local markets and made my experience phenomenal. This place will be missed 🤍

Right off the bat, the hostel’s location really offers peace and quiet, which I prioritize every time I book a place. I also appreciate the proactiveness of the staff (thanks Via!) in offering me a van transfer from the airport to the hostel since I didn’t book any transfer yet prior to my trip. I was greeted with a warm smile by CJ in the reception area and was given detailed explanation of the hostel’s amenities, available activities for guests, and hostel rules. Also, there are signages available everywhere to remind you of the rules; so no reason for you to forget those! On the second floor, you can do various activities like table tennis, billiards, or just chill on their bean bags while enjoying a bottle of beer or soda from their mini bar. The bunk where I slept was also comfortable, with AC working perfectly to get a good night sleep after a day of basking under the sun. The restroom is always clean and stocked with tissue papers and bidets (with good pressure). Also, big thanks to Via for taking me to Catangnan Bridge! One of the best sunsets i’ve seen so far. Overall, Sunlit Hostel and its staff have made my birthday week in Siargao a well-spent and memorable trip. Thank you!

Big clean dorms. Beds are a good size! Each bed has a set of drawer beneath the bed that can lock. My dorm was full and bags were a bit all over the place but it is a backpacker hostel, so it is to be expected. Nice social area upstairs, and the staff are lovely. A good mix of social hostel and quiet really.

The male bathrooms were under maintenance, and work sometimes started at 7am. Next to the dorms. Less than ideal when tiles are being removed and you're trying to sleep..

Loved the open concept, which contributed to a communal ambiance! The roof area is perfect for relaxing/chilling during the day when it’s too hot and also a great place to meet other solo travelers over games like pool, ping pong, scrabble, darts, etc. The staff (Via, Cj, Beth, etc) were wonderful and so helpful. They made me feel comfortable and included, which is important to me as a solo traveler. Love the variety of activities throughout the week, especially the boodle fight family dinner, because it brings together many of the guests. The location is along the back road, which is great to be a short drive away from the noise and hustle and bustle of the main road of GL. It’s quiet when it’s time to rest but during the day there’s a great restaurant across the street. Highly recommend this hostel!

- Great hostel, with activities for every day written on the board at the entrance (this was super helpful!) - Loved the boodle fight family dinner that was held at the hostel. Great food and nice was of meeting people. - Staff were friendly and super helpful in arranging airport pick-up and drop-off. - We stayed in a private room which was very spacious, and shared the bathroom amenities. They were kept clean so I didn't mind it. - Ideal that there's a restaurant opposite the hostel (Veyda), so you can grab breakfast or lunch whenever. - Location is good but best to have your own motorbike! It's between General Luna and Cloud9 so perfect if you wanna spend time in both places.

Nothing really, except that the location is on the back road, so you can't quickly walk to places. Best to have a motorbike or otherwise take a tricycle.

Sunlit was an amazing experience. From the amazing rooftop with all the games and the bar, to the comfortable beds and rooms, i loved it all! The staff took great care of me from the moment I walked through the doors and do their best to organize events and invite for activities. The bathrooms are recently renovated and look and feel very clean. There is plenty of hot water and the water smells super fresh which is great compared to some other places. The beds are comfortable and have everything you need. Drawers to put your stuff and a curtain and outlets in each bed. When I had to leave the island they were about to install solar so they are going clean and wont be affected with the power outages anymore. I havent seen that at any other hostel on Siargao!
