The location was unbelievable. We had a room that was dead centre on the 3rd floor facing the ocean. OMG, the morning sun ups and the evening lightning storms over the water were too magical to describe. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Our luggage arrived a day later and they just looked after it at reception for us.

Our bathroom was a little gross: it smelt very damp all the time. It was very clean. Just the smell. No vegan options at the restaurant for lunch and dinner. You can ofcourse remove the cheese from meals but then the meals are very unfulfilling as there is absolutely no vegan protein. I did ask the hotel months in advance to please have vegan options at brekkie: and only halfway through the stay, were we offered some vegan sausages at brekkie. So I'd recommend bringing alot of nuts, nut butter, protein bars and shakes for all the vegans.

Loved our stay..beautiful location and my room was in the perfect location.. CHRIS Manger from the restaurant saw me looking unwell. He actually made me toast and coffee and handed it to me.. The staff are excellent and I will be back soon.. The atmosphere is amazing.. :)

The hosting of team building..it was so noisy and loud..I could not sleep due to me feeling unwell We couldn't go and relax by the pool..because they took up that entire space.. And the shower needs to be changed..that was terrible

My family and I had a spectacular stay at this hotel. Situated in the hills with a beautiful view of the calm Scottbrough ocean, which is ideal for swimming and surfing. The meals were scrumptious and cooked to perfection. The pool bar offered a large variety of drinks. It was so pleasant to swim in a freshly clean pool. The hotel offered miniature golf and a small playground for the children to burn their energy. There was even a pizza oven for freshly cooked pizzas. The rooms were capacious, with a private balcony, private bathroom, TV, ceiling fan, dressing table, cupboards and air conditioner. The also had a modern designed and fitted with smart technology like the LG smart television. The hotel staff always cleaned the rooms to their finest point. Reception always made a good effort to help me with whatever we needed. There is security parking there for R30 per day as December 2019. Guests have to use a security code to gain access to the public beach gate. With a high crime rate in South Africa The Blue Marlin ensures that their guests are under good surveillance. For those interested in scuba diving there is a scuba diving shop in which one can do their open water course. Divers get the privilege of diving at the famous Aliwal Shoal Reef which is one of the top ten diving spots in the world. I scuba dived with tiger sharks and dolphins. If you are lucky you can swim with humpback whales as the Indian Oceans warm tropical waters are perfect for humans to swim in. The beach itself is very pleasant. It is kept in clean condition. Offering the options of swimming in the ocean or tide pool. There are lifeguards on duty for all areas. There are rock pools only a short distance walk away where one can go snorkeling or fishing. I saw a fisherman catch a king fish and snorkeled with a turtle. I would definitely recommend The Blue Marlin Hotel as a holiday destination for anyone.

Friendly, pleasant, humble staff & the restuarant team checked on us often while at the pool area. Breakfast was set up well with a variety. Meals were at a reasonable cost. We were comfortable & relaxed due to the excellent security in place. Also the gate that leads to the ocean has a daily password. Well organized 👌 There is a spa inside the hotel to which I had a good relaxed spa treatment. I have recommended this hotel to my friends & family, & they will be booking into the penthouse.

I wish I had booked a few more days to make the most of it but next time will do.

Very helpful and friendly staff. Nice pool and grounds. Good choice of foods from menus. Breakfast was plentiful and with a very good range of options.

Some locks on the widows would allow partial opening without the risk of the local monkeys getting into the rooms to search for food - there were warning signs about this but the windows could be either locked shut or left open but unlocked. Just a small point but sometimes it is good to have fresh air rather than rely on the a/c or ceiling fans.

Listening and seeing the Indian Ocean was wonderful. Breakfast and dinner offered an exstensive range of food from the hot buffet as well as a selection from a menu with speciality of the day suggestions. The room was left spotless after the cleaning service. If I could move this hotel including staff to the UK it would need to be booked a year in advance.

I only have praise for the wonderful atmosphere created by the friendly and helpful staff. What's not to like about a 5 star rating at 3 star prices?

The hotel is great! Friendly helpful staff, who are always ready and willing to help. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast and dinner. The pizzas were fantastic. Great pool area, my kids enjoyed the baby pool. Beautiful view.

Unfortunately we couldn't swim at the beach because of water pollution, but we drove down the coast a little and that was fine.

We would recommend Blue Marlin to anyone. We had a wonderful time. Family friendly. Clean comfortable rooms with great views. Activities when weather isnt great. Access to Scottburgh's main beach. Exellent spa if you want to relax. Friendly helpfull staff and dont forget...amazing food!!

We didnt like the fact that time passed so quickly and we had to go back home.

It was nostalgic as we grew up in the area passing the hotel and finally decided to stay over on a trip to Durban. Rooms were large with a lovely sea view. Cool sea breeze to help with the Scottburgh heat. Staff were friendly. They made an effort to arrange our meals as we have dietary requirements.

For a hotel, they did not have undercover parking available and you had to pay to park.

I loved the location,scenery and set up of the dining area and the flow to the outside seating area.

Repetition of food in the evenings😔 was excessive.Hake,chicken or beef curry(curries tasted weird like they were rewarmed and curry powder added onto it),lasagne or macaroni,pork leg/lamb roast became a bore after 2 night's and we stayed 4🥴.What they excelled in were salads and desserts,different types most night's but the main meals were a disappointment.
