Pictures in description are misleading. The property is NOT located close to the beach. The property is on a hill overlooking the sea. You need to take a car to get down to the beach. Patio on the pictures are not taken on the property but at the restaurant/ Hotel next door.

Fabulous view of the beach from a stunning deck. Magnificent sunrise across the sea. Sound of the waves all night. Very secure. The Tides is high above the beach. Staff were completely geared to working groups and could accommodate early breakfasts. Fabulous cooked breakfast.

The threatening "cash deposit needed in 48 hours" auto-letter you receive from The Tides after booking online ... which contradicts all assurances and payment dates laid out by Booking.com. The place was booked full. Two of our colleagues were 'upgraded' to an establishment down the beach - and into a room where the shower did not work. Staff gave one of our rooms away to another guest just minutes before we arrived... and we needed a negotiation to get it back. Get there early.

The ocean view from the room with its floor to ceiling windows was stunning. The lawn was clean (no dog or cat poop) and the landscape manicured. The bed was so comfortable and the shower had good pressure and temperature control. Cleanliness was top notch. As a digital nomad, I appreciated having a desk inside the room as well as a table and chairs to work on on the porch. Internet was fast. I would definitely come back for a longer term stay. It's perfect for surfing digital nomads.

The reception was friendly and polite. The cook was not. The cook ignored me when I came to breakfast. She is the most laconic and brusque person I've ever met working in hospitality. She does not belong in the customer service and hospitality industry. She would rather keep watching her soap operas on TV than actually do her job.

For us staying longer and realized once at the property that they don't have a swimming pool.

The “off the charts” stand outs were, the location right on the river and the amazing gardens, just beautiful. The room was unexpectedly big and spotless, the cleanliness and comfort was exceptional. Our room also had a raised wooden patio with a wooden table and chairs - perfect for a sundowner. The staff were beautiful and took care of our every need. We were lucky to meet the owners, Colin and Sandy - such interesting and warm, lovely people. Location, good, and easy to access. I just can’t say enough good things about this place - highly recommended.

The breakfast was ok, I would have loved to eat something different on Sunday but I had the same breakfast Saturday and Sunday.

Perhaps the sliding gates dont show what is happening inside the room. I was walking around half naked and would have to close the curtains because of other guests.

Lovely room with fantastic view. I really enjoyed my stay. And I liked the close walking proximity via a boardwalk to the restaurant next door. It was great being able to go for dinner without even going onto the road

I rang the bell twice on arrival and no answer. Had to phone a cell and then was granted access. It would have been nice to be given a bit more of a welcome.and introduction of the place and what to find where. Whilst there was some information in the room, a personal touch and a few words would have been good.

The view across the ocean is magnificent - you can't beat it and I wished I was on holiday and could spend the day relaxing to the sound of the waves. The room is a lovely size and is well maintained.

It would be nice to have a hairdryer in the room, and perhaps a larger towel, although that might sound trivial.... While I don't expect constant attention, the atmosphere felt a bit impersonal.

I love that the room i stayed in was very clean. I loved the location of the premises and the wonderful view of the Ocean it offered. Its simply a little paradise.

When I arrived I wasn't sure how to get into the premises because the bell wasn't answered immediately but there after I got assisted by the lady there. She even made a sandwich for me and left it in the fridge for me to enjoy later :).

Amazing place with wonderful hosts! I booked a room (3 nights) with sea view and what a view 😍 Enjoyed my coffee on the veranda watching the waves. The breakfast was delicious, and staff very friendly. The host helped me arranged things that made my stay relaxed and very enjoyable. I felt safe and very welcomed! I really recommend it for your stay near Durban!!!
