Mir Octavio

This was a great location for me. I only stayed one night arriving by train and leaving by ferry the next day. It was even next to the bus station. The area might not be great late at night but it was fine during the day and early evening. I walked around quite a bit and enjoyed the street art/murals. I found a good place for dinner and breakfast nearby. The hotel reviews didn't sound great, but I thought the room was surprisingly nice. It was large with plenty of space for luggage, working at a desk, and had extra seating. The sheets and pillows were good cotton and I had a balcony. Lots of natural light in the day with a wall of windows to the balcony which had a table and chairs for relaxing. There was even a small refrigerator. I arrived early and they let me store my luggage.

I can't think of anything. I don't usually stay in large hotels (prefer small boutique stays), but the room was great and perfect for one night.

The staff were lovely and accommodating, especially as we arrived late with tired and hungry children. The waiter made a special effort to provide a meal for our veggie daughter and he food was good despite the late hour. The hotel is well located further train and port and staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were huge, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was generous and the half board arrangement made our whole stay really easy (we were just staying one night to get the ferry the next day).

Smoking was permitted in communal areas which we're not used to, so the restaurant and halls and lounges all smelled a bit smoky, though chairs and communal spaces were well maintained.

Very well located just next to Algeciras bus station, perfect for taking the bus directly to Gibraltar (or others). The room is very large, clean. Bed very comfortable as well. There's a restaurant, not the best but still useful to have it at hand. Good communication when checking in and every other time I went to the reception.

The bathroom looked a bit old, no big deal. For ex the shower was throwing water a bit everywhere. Also the room was just above the bus station, it's convenient but of course you get the noise of the buses... can't have one without the other. The laundry service was not available when I was there.

Very near Algeciras Train Station and bus station (for taking bus to station near Gibraltar). Our room is a Junior Suite room, bathroom is big, it has 2 basins, and toilet has a separate door. The staff is nice to rent it to me when I asked for a kettle. By the way, we went and found Gibraltar is very touristy place, and things are very expensive. and people keep trying to sell tour package to go up mountain, finally we had to pay for tour up the mountain too. There are 2 small grocery store nearby, but price is a bit higher. We went to a Chinese restaurant "Ze Yun Restaurante Chino", very delicious Chinese food and not expensive.

There's a hole in the balcony light, and believed there's a bird nest inside it, that there's a constant new patch of bird pop on same spots.

This hotel is literally next to the bus station and across the street from the train station. We used this as a commuter spot for when we visited Gibraltar and Morocco and it was perfect for that use. The room itself was comfortable.

The shower head in the room was partially broken. It worked, but it was odd and kept falling back towards the wall. It was also very hot in the room as the ac did not work at all, we opened the windows, but had to close them as cigarette smoke kept coming into the room making it even more unpleasant.

Location, Location, location. - if youre arriving to algecirus by bus, the hotel is connected to the bus station. its about a 5-6 euro ride to the ferry or 15-20 minute walk. make sure you check into the ferry terminal 2 hours early. thats the rule, though were were there about an hour before and it was okay, our ferry was an hour late, so not sure if that counts but play it safe. when i found out that we hadnt checked in to the ferry on time, the receptionist at the mir octavio went above and beyond to help us by contacting the ferry line to make sure we would be okay.

- The hotel has a very convenient location, close to the train station and bus station, as well as a reasonable walk to the ferry terminal. We used Mir Octavio as our base for our day trip into Gibraltar and walked to the ferry terminal to take a ferry bus to Tarifa so we could take the ferry to Tangier. - The night manager was very helpful. When we arrived, we discovered that the room we had been assigned had a full bed (we had requested 2 twins to have more room to sleep). The manager gave us room 416, a triple on the 4th floor, because the only other twin room was on the ground floor and my husband had requested a quiet room. The top floor in the hotel is the 4th floor. The manager also suggested a nearby Middle Eastern kebab place because the hotel restaurant had already closed. We also got information about buses to Gibraltar. - We were happy with the triple which was roomy and had a surprising amount of storage. We had plenty of hot water. We used ear plugs so didn't have any noise issues.

There aren't that many restaurants close to the hotel. On Saturday night, we tried to eat at the hotel restaurant but they were only serving sandwiches because the cook had the day off.

Great location, steps away from a colourful neighbourhood of restaurants and bars and the fresh food market. 3 single beds perfectly accommodated me and my two grown kids. Air conditioning was Amazing! Property includes restaurant for dinner and ample buffet breakfast as well as room service. Front desk staff very helpful with helping us to figure out a couple of challenges of arriving in a new country eg. Buying and setting up new SIM cards in our phones. :).

Restaurant hours were a bit limited, as was menu selection. But it was still adequate for our needs.

Absolutely the BEST place to stay if arriving by train - the hotel is located right across the road from the station, and next to the bus station. It was only a ten minute walk to the ferry terminal, and in the other direction the center of town was also about ten minutes walk. A very comfortable hotel with everything you would need for a good night's rest. Organising a day trip to Gibraltar from here was as simple as walking next door to the bus station. The town itself is worth a look.

The stuff is extremely polite and helpful. Not a bad price. The cleaning ladies are doing a descent job, although the hotel is old.

The location is very dodgy with a lot of shady people around, but I guess it is fine for the people traveling by ferry, train or bus. There is a free parking behind the hotel and bus station, but I was positively surprised every morning that my car didn’t get stolen. Be aware of characters trying to charge you for parking your car there. The hotel needs some refurbishment.
