We had our car breakdown the morning of leaving, the hotel staff have been exceptionally helpful and supportive when we have had to re-book the room at very short notice depending on what happened to our car. A reasonable standard of English spoken by the frount end staff. Excellent location situated on and part of the historic fort’s walls, with exceptional views for miles around. The rampart walk is also reasonably well lit for that cool evening stroll. There appears to be a very popular communal swimming and picnic area at the weir down on the river. (We did not avail ourselves so cannot comment further) The central Plaza with all of it eating establishments is only 5 minutes walk away.

The lack of in room refreshments or any facilities to make a hot drink, you must go to the cafe/bar to purchase teas or coffees, which is also open to the general public.

Room 113 was in the circular keep , very medieval. Bathroom had all extras, views from castle garden were stunning , tv had Chromecast so you could link your phone. could park your car right outside room. Breakfast and dining room right outside door. stairs go up to the castle top where you can see or miles around over bridges , rivers and mountains , best hotel visit so far for price.

The town was a little disappointing, though it was a Monday. The main square was 3/4 shut. The castle and grounds made up for that and looks to be a nice river beach area below

Spectacular location and great views from the gardens of the Parador which are very beautiful. The building is a must-see and stay Rooms are very nice, bath-rooms very ample and well appointed. Beds nice and comfortable. Staff is exceptionally nice, friendly, professional and helpful. ABSOLUTELY BEYOND EXPECTATION: THE RESTAURANT!!! Fabulous quality, presentation, quantity, variety and service. Very good selection of wines and delicious traditional dishes and desserts that are very unique and known in the area.

Everything was great. Views from the room are limited, BUT of course is an ancient castle!! so they didn't build with great views

The hotel is relatively easy to find from the main road but the streets are extremely narrow and tight. However, the hotel does have ample parking spaces inside the walls. The Parador is the castle of Ciudad Rodrigo and it is only a short walk to the beautiful centre of the city and the walls and fortifications. The location on a hill overlooking the Guadiana river is spectacular. The room had a balcony and lovely views across the river and rural landscape.

As might be expected in a castle, the room was smaller than other Paradores in which we have stayed. There is no pool but, fortunately, the heat-wave had passed.

Beautiful property in a charming village!

They have so much on-site parking available they should just calculate the cost into the room rate. It would be less offensive. There were a few maintenance issues, limited access to TV HDMI ports and the air condition wasn't really working.

We have been stopping off at this Parador on our way to Portugal for well over a decade and always enjoy coming back. We loved the new bathroom & updated decor this year and the reception staff are always friendly and welcoming.

It was a shame the bar in the garden wasn’t open when we visited but everything else is great

Old but very well renovated. Very spacious. Food and service in the restaurant was great.

Signage was not very clear. There was no sign to the tower which we eventually found after walking around the whole building and going up a number of corridors.

The room was spacious with natural lighting. We had a patio that overlooked the valley. Both dinner and breakfast were very good.

There was construction happening while we were there but that really didn't affect us.

We had a large, quietly located room in a wonderful old building. Excellent food, though it would be good to have the veal cooked!

The car parking is dreadful! Cars are parked far to close to each other so your car will probably get damaged with other guests opening their car doors and hitting yours!! This has put me off staying there again.

There is no information about the hotel or anything else in the room, which was quite odd as the hotel is obviously historical ,also no normal info about breakfast, lunch and dinner times etc
