This is a great value for money 5 star hotel. It’s away from the crowds around the main attractions but still an easy walk to get to them. The hotel is an attraction in itself with Roman architecture and an exquisite tiled floor visible beneath the see through floor in the dining room. The rooms are nicely furnished and the bed is huge - just what we like. The restaurant is excellent for dinner especially when served outside by the attentive and very pleasant staff most of whom speak great English.

Breakfast was a little chaotic with more staff and plates/cutlery required during peak periods

All round this was a great hotel. Historic setting was great, particularly the 1st century ruins under the breakfast area. Large and comfortable room. Nice pool/bar area for relaxing. The access to the Roman Baths which was included in the room rate was a very present experience. Restaurant was also good for dinner. Would recommend and stay again happily. Note: we did not take breakfast so cannot comment (no good breakfast options nearby so would change that in future)

Nothing much not to like, if there was one thing that didn't meet the same high standard as everything else in the hotel it was the lunch food avaliable at the pool bar. This is especially noticable given the excellant quality of the dinner. It was acceptable and for convenience sake I'd still happily eat there again, but not travel out of our way for it. Minor observations: there was a slight odour coming from the drains, this was manageable. Not possible to fill the sink in bathroom due to design - slight issue for men shaving. Face cloth would be nice addition to bathroom amenities.

The location was ideal for us as we arrived by train so an easy walk from the station. It is about 15-20 minutes walk downhill to the main centre. Very quiet area. The hotel itself is beautiful. There is a very calm and tranquil atmosphere throughout. Lovely patio garden with swimming pool. The hotel has been built on Roman ruins and the dining room has a clear floor so that you can see these. Very good evening meal with excellent service

Odd things, coffee at breakfast was the worst we had in our whole time in Spain, no indication that there was a cooked breakfast service until we were almost finished on our second day, no hand soap provided in the basins in the room. These were minor issues but just a bit unexpected in a hotel of this quality.

We loved the breakfast room with the glass floor and the ancient Roman artefacts, We loved the garden areas and the pool although it was too cold outside to swim WE loved the breakfast and the choice of fresh delicious varied food. We loved our room, the size, the comfortable bed and the amazing bath room

The noise from the street woke us up, although this cannot be helped The communal areas were a little sterile and the indoor bar area was functional rather than luxurious and comfortable. The hotel is totally geared up for hot weather and as it was cold when we visited we would have liked somewhere to relax other than the restaurant. Maybe heaters in the garden. It would have been lovely to have the pool heated for a swim in winter

This property is absolutely beautiful. The inner courtyard is lovely for dinner with the sound of the fountain and nicely illuminated buildings. The room was very nicely decorated with very high quality linens and nice lighting. I had a little outdoor patio with a table and two chairs. The room I was in (room 15) had an entry hall where the closet and door to the bathroom were located. This could be closed from the bedroom with a solid door. The bathroom was on the larger side with nice thick towels. Breakfast is served as a buffet with a large assortment of breads, pastries, yogurt, various fruit options, sliced hams and one could request eggs cooked to order included in the price of the breakfast. Most days breakfast was served in the Roman Patio, which has a plexiglass floor revealing ancient Roman ruins below. Really exceptional. The oldest part of the city including the Jewish Quarter (La Juderia), Mezquita and Alcazar are all within a long walk's distance. If you walk in the opposite direction, you have a Día market around the corner and a large park with central fountain that allowed for a nice place to watch Cordobeses walk with their children and go about their day. Do not make the same mistake that we did and fail until your last morning to search out the pool. Even if you do not plan to use it, the pool is located in a beautiful second courtyard filled with plants, trees and tables for enjoying time outdoors.

I have high standards when critiquing the places I go and this hotel left nothing to be desired. It is beautiful.

The Hospes Palacio del Bailio is a delightful, tranquil place to stay. The rooms are well appointed and ample in their proportions. The staff were friendly, attentive and courteous. The pool situated in the central courtyard is surrounded by an immaculate garden ara which also has a bar/restaurant. This was a very peaceful place to stay and somewhere I would certainly revisit if I was in Cordoba again.

The hotel is a short walk approx 10/15 mins to the restaurants, bars and shops situated in the old quarter, which is rather small beer when you take into consideration the great atmosphere of the hotel.

It is a special hotel, which is located in the building of the 17th century with surviving frescoes and window frames from those ages! AND the remains of a Roman palace, which can be seen under the glass floor of the hotel restaurant, located in the patio of the building. The managers of the hotel have kindly agreed to make a short tour to satisfy our interest and answer our questions about those findings from ancient times. It was very impressive! Which is more, we had wonderful three rooms (we traveled with teenagers), located next to each other as we requested, and at the same time separately from other hotel rooms. The breakfast at the hotel is excellent. The restaurants and flamenco venue in the city recommended by the hotel staff were wonderful!

beautiful hotel fabulous rooms and comfortable beds it’s restored but they have maintained the beauty and charm of its original character also fabulous breakfast was very good. staff very friendly and so welcoming

The Spa experience was really bad we both had massages my husbands was good but I did not enjoy mine the therapist had very sharp nails really made the experience uncomfortable and it was supposed to be a relaxing massage. In general with a spa visit you get a herbal tea or water juice and a little bit of time in a relaxation area after your treatment nothing at all. they were more concerned that we have signed the bill if they had checked my husband had signed it already would go back to this hotel but I would not use the Spa again

Staff very friendly and helpful, turn down service Breakfast was great, treats left in the room Built on previous roman ruins which you see below whilst having breakfast Use of roman baths/pool, use of robes and towels

Our room overlooked the courtyard so this could become noisy Shower needs better screen as water leaked onto the floor Walking to sites/ restaurants reasonable but its walking slightly uphill on the way back

This was EXACTLY my kind of hotel, and I can't remember the last time I felt so relaxed on holiday. It was an outstanding 5* boutique hotel, in a fantastic location - super quiet, but within walking distance of pretty much everything in Cordoba. The room was huge and super comfortable, with everything I needed + extra little touches that one expects at this level. Having breakfast above Roman ruins was quite a unique experience. The 'patios' (or courtyards as I would call them) were a dreamy place to sit back and read a book under the citrus and pomegranate trees, after a hard day's sightseeing, with the smell of jasmine and the lapping of the pool to calm your senses, whilst charming staff brought you coffee, drinks etc. Even my (embarrassingly bad) hire car was whisked away for me by a valet to be returned at the perfect time for my departure...and I really didn't want to leave.

If the only thing I can write here is that the super-swanky designer sinks didn't have plugs, which is a bit impractical and a waste of water, you can tell I'm really desperately trying to find something! :)
