Did not have breakfast. Evening meals were OK but choice limited. Staff very friendly and generally helpful. Building has been very well restored. Car park nearby and secure. Location ideal for exploring Asturias.

Room could be better designed. No bedside table on right hand side. Only one easy chair. No instructions as to lighting, oven, tv etc. Information from booking.com and hotel website said a microwave provided. Staff said microwave not provided. In fact the oven was dual purpose and included a microwave., Daniel sorted this out. This is a studio, and as such it should be expected that guests spend more time in the room than say just a "room." If it was not for Daniel we would never have known. This is not good enough for what is not a cheap hotel- it lets you down!

An unexpected pleasure in a very small town on the river Nalon. Staff were marvellous (though few), room was great, lighting was great, bed/linen great, bathroom excellent. Lovely morning walk by the river. Easy access off E-70. Aguilar beach near by is gorgeous and see the "casas indios" in Samao too (the ones with palm trees).

This is not unusual but absence of kettle in room means no tea or room service - and us English like our afternoon and morning tea! One for the whole industry! The real disappointment was the dining - the evening meal was underwhelming (both the lasagne and the tarte tatin came from the microwave though originally home made), the red wine too cold, while breakfast (ok it was a sunday morning) felt "tired" with stale croissants. Still plentiful so not a huge negative, just disappointing after the joy of the room!

Newly renovated the decor is tasteful, it highlights the traditional features of the building but remains fresh and unstuffy. We had a deluxe corner room. Whilst initially we thought the crane view from the window was a bit strange, once you walk around the sea front you realise they are there because they pay homage to the history of this small town which was once an important port in the region, as they are no longer in use. The beds are super comfortable, with several pillows, lovely linen and there is plenty of storage in the room. Clever things like having USB ports at the plugs avoids having to use travel adaptors. There is a mini fridge (not stocked), which is handy as there are shops nearby where you can buy drinks or fruit. The bathrooms are gorgeous and spacious, again designed with immaculate taste, they have basic toiletries but the towels are large and luxurious. And most importantly there is plenty of space around the double sink and underneath to put your toiletries. Breakfast consisted of a buffet with a great selection of the usual items such as pastries, fruit, yogurt, cold meats and cheese and an a la carte selection of eggs and other that you could order at the table. The reception staff were super helpful and advised walking routes and things to do. One of the walks was about 5km to the most stunning beach. The hotel is well located as a base to explore the local area, like the more famous towns such as Cudillero which is about a 15 min drive, but it is way calmer, yet there are plenty of restaurants along the water front.

My husband suggested he would prefer a thermostatic shower so he didn’t have to keep fiddling with the hot and cold shower taps, though I did not think that was an issue.

Very cute boutique hotel in the historic, charming little town of San Esteban. If you are traveling by car, Cudillero, Playa del Silencio and Playa Aguilar are a short drive away. Great front desk staff—they were super pleasant, incredibly helpful and spoke good english. Comfortable bed and pillows, clean, well appointed room, good shower. Convenient parking just across the hotel. Will definitely be back!

I would have given the hotel a 10, if not for the restaurant’s skinny waitress with the long ponytail —she always had a scowl on her face and seemed very annoyed that we showed up for breakfast at 8:05am instead of 8:15am. Fortunateely, the other restaurant staff— a woman with dark hair behind the counter, and a young man— were very pleasant and welcoming.

Our room, 105, was a large suite room that had a pink marble shower large enough to fit 4 people. It had two large sofas. The staff were super friendly. The breakfast was great. Ate dinner on both nights in the restaurant. The burrata salad with pesto was exceptional, the best I have ever had. Hotel parking was their own behind a barrier. It has 3 charging parks.

Room was hot when we arrived, and the air con system was not operational yet, even though it was at the end of May. Luckily it was a breezy day and a few open windows cooled the room down to a just acceptable level. Got hot at night when we had to close the windows due to street noise. Spoilt our stay, as everything else was just perfect.

This place was amazing! I wish we were staying longer! We had a 2br apartment which was so spacious! The bedrooms were elegant and super comfortable and the amenities were exceptionally clean and everything you would need. The staff were amazing and very helpful as well. I would definitely come back again!

It was hard to find anything wrong here! The only thing I would say is that you do here a bit of road noise if there are noisy bikes or cars, but otherwise this property was amazing!

Very rarely you come across a real gem. Gran Hotel Brillante is one of these. From the location in a quiet seaside town, to the hotel itself, the stay was wonderful. The room was tastefully decorated, the staff was super friendly and attentive, and the building is renovated in a modern style, while keeping its links to the past. The breakfast was really nice, particularly the croissants and homemade cakes. You can dine well in the hotel restaurant, and there are a few very nice restaurants in San Esteban, so also gastronomically nothing was lacking. There are really nice hikes to be had from San Esteban, and there were truly spectacular views along the route. Gran Hotel Brillante has already been marked as a place to return to, it was truly a pleasure to stay there.

Absolutely loved it! First of all the little town, San Esteban de la Pravia, is such a charming little place - pretty historical waterfront and so quiet and pleasant. Highly recommend the 2.5km walk down the Ria to the sea whether in the morning or just before dinner. Then, the hotel itself is beautiful and excellently managed. The staff (especially Roman) were incredibly nice and helpful and made us feel so welcome. We booked an apartment which was great for our needs (family with two children, 7 and 11). We ate in the restaurant a couple of times and food was excellent and we also found a couple of bottles of superb wine, very fairly priced. There are a few other very good places you can eat in town (ask the hotel) and the town is an excellent base for visiting the entire region (we had a rental car). Would love to be back some day!

The hotel is beautiful overall, nice and spacious room, very helpful staff. The lighting in the room is very nice, with lots of control. The location is very peaceful and beautiful. Great breakfast. The dinner on our 2nd night was delicious. Late checkout is possible against a fair charge. Easy parking.

We arrived late for check-in at around 20:30 and although our room was nicely prepared for us as requested, it had sand everywhere on the floor, which indicated it had not been cleaned properly. We had to wait more than an hour to have it somewhat cleaned - next day they did clean it thoroughly, though. Given this circumstance, I would've expected at least some symbolic act of kindness (for instance, a glass of wine, or maybe waiving the late checkout fee), but nothing was offered.

A wonderful hotel in the beautiful village of San Estaban. Excellent attentive staff in a very well appointed and newly (2021) refurbished hotel...the condition of the hotel would give the impression the refurb was even more recent. We didn't eat dinner in the restaurant, choosing a local bar instead, but the menu looked excellent....breakfast was delicious with excellent attention from the hotel staff. Highly recommended, albeit a little expensive (a treat worth having)
