Arriving by Renfe train from Santiago, the bay spread out in front of us in the sunset and we walked the mile or so to the Hotel through the quiet city centre. The Staff spoke excellent English and our room overlooked the central square, which came alive in the morning ahead of a football tournament. The Hotel concierge suggested several good places to visit and we spent some hours in the Naval Construction Museum before buying tickets on the marvellous little "Feve" narrow gauge train later in the evening - towards Ribadeo. Thanks Gran-Hotel, for making the start of our holiday, so easy.

no free water the location wasn’t ideal for us but this is my mistake, not the hotel’s. if you’re planning on garaging the Camino the next day I would suggest you stay further west into Ferrol. We had the choice of a 27 minute walk before the Camino, which we didn’t want to do, or a taxi. just worth keeping in mind.

Well located for strolling around. For example, the Magdalena neighbourhood with it's interesting array of historically important buildings is about a 20 minutes walk from the hotel. The room was spacious, clean and quiet. The hotel restaurant service and food were very good . The breakfast was high quality to suit a wide range of tastes. The fee for designated hotel parking was well worth the price.

The room I staid in was excellent, well kept and generously spaced. The breakfast buffet was good as well, great selection including a lot of local meats.

Only downside, for a north American, is the parking garage... if you're staying here and your driving skills are good in north America... get a small car, you'll thank me later. It is super tight!!!

We arrived late by train, so were very pleased that the restaurant was still serving late into the evening. We had quite a good meal. The staff did their best to be helpful throughout.

The room we had been assigned, which we went up to only after eating our late supper, had not beeen cleaned and made up after the previous occupants left. It was about 11.00pm by this time. The staff on reception found it difficult to locate a new room for us, and finally when we went up there it had twin beds (this was our honeymoon). However, we were so tired it didn't seem worth trying to move again. We were moving on the next day, anyway.

Everything was superb. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant, the rooms first class, the breakfast outstanding and the attached bar and restaurant excellent.

Music at breakfast time! I much prefer the quiet hum of conversation or virtual silence (But I am a musician and may be in the minority on this point.)

Room was spacious, beds were comfortable, breakfast was fantastic, we ate Dinner in the restaurant one evening and it was delicious. But what really stood out was the attentiveness of the staff, who were so professional and friendly. A big thankyou to you all at Gran Hotel de Ferrol

Breakfast was excellent,well laid out,plenty of room between tables.Bar and dining also v good,friendly staff.

Would have preferred the hotel to be nearer the centre of Ferrol. The area around the hotel was quite dreary,not good for outdoor dining and traffic v heavy and noisy.

Hotel is well located and the facilities are good. The room was huge and had everything necessary. Good bathroom, comfy bed, and delicious breakfast in the morning. The staff is very helpful and kind. Would recommend

the location in town can be a bit noisy at night because of traffic.
