Hostal Abadia Madrid

Pros: (1) Perfect central location, (2) Very friendly staff ready to assist, (3) 24 hr reception, (4) comfortable room with good space, (5) Very quiet despite the central location, (6) very good cleanliness, (7) very good lights both in the room and the bathroom, (8) well equipped room, (9) warm room despite the low temperature outside, however we had to ask the reception for switching-on the heating. We did not try the breakfast so cannot comment.

Cons: (1) Slight bad smell coming from the bathroom - that's the main reason for the lower score, (2) small elevator - during peak hours we had to wait a bit or take the stairs, (3) there was not a shower shelf to place you own shampoo or gel while taking your shower.

Small but cozy room; little balcony overlooking the street; v comfortable bed w lots of pillows; nice bedding; good shower; friendly and helpful staff

The soundproofing is not great; i could hear almost everything in the next room. However, with earplugs it was fine.

The personel was extremely friendly and helpful (all of them), providing solutions before presenting our requests :). Our room looked great and had everything we needed including a mini-fridge. It was very warm and they had radiators (essential since we traveled in February), with a really comfortable large bed, it was quiet (we didn't hear the neighbors at all), powerful and big shower, possibility to leave luggage and see the city before the check in and after the check out. They even borrowed an electric kettle to prepare a tea. And we enjoyed the breakfast too, quite varied and always refiling. The location, close to all important museums and streets, so we only walked. And you even have a supermarket less than 1 minute away. Thank you for everything! ❤️

The hotel is situated down a side street next to the "Basic Fit" gym. The main entrance is a arch doorway with large metal gates. If the gates are locked there is a buzzer intercom system on the right of the door. Press the button near the bottom right with the "hostal" label. Once inside take the left door upstairs to the hostal reception. The breakfast is available next door at the "De Martin Restaurante - Cafe. The hotel was great and the breakfast was good but busy at certain times.

I was very much surprised by how clean and spacious the room was. Located in Lavapies I was at first sceptical but it turned out to be quiet and night and still close to the city center. The terrace on the sixth floor was amazing. Especially during autumn the sunset was amazing lighting the sky in the most beautiful colours.

Sadly the bathroom drains seemed to have some sort of issue, which is why the entire room had a funny smell. We kept the window open so it wouldn’t bother us as much and it worked perfectly.

It simply has everything that you need at a really good price. So everything is basic but everything is good and everything is there - clean linen, towels, shower gel, good shower with plenty of space, comfortable bed, tv with netflix and prime, fridge to keep a beer or two cold, good air conditioning that kept the room at a great temperature even though Madrid was 98F / 37C the day we stayed. Last time in Madrid I stayed in a similarly priced but more budget hostal. The room was tiny, no air conditioning, limited reception hours, shared bathroom. So a pretty uncomfortable stay. I was amazed this time to find every little luxury that makes traveling comfortable available at such a good price.

An easy 5 Euro bus ride from the airport to Atocha train station and then a straightforward 20 min walk to the accommodation. Lovely location, walking distance to most of Madrid's top attractions. Unfussy, clean, comfortable and affordable for a night or two - was pleasantly surprised at the hight standard. Breakfast simple but adequate. Recommended.

For the price paid, zero complaints.

Very good location in the city centre! Despite it is in the centre it is quiet and only 5 minute to Sol by foot. We booked standard room, but the girl on reception was so kind and when understood it is our first time in Madrid decided to give us apartment on the last floor with beautiful city view terrace.

The breakfast was at next to the hotel building and didn’t worth it. It was quite simple and without any change all the stay.

I would like to remember the name of the girl who was at the front desk because she was so kind and helpful. The location for me was excellent but that depends on every traveller's places of interest. I didn't have the chance to have breakfast so the only thing I can say is that is not on the same building, you literally have to leave the hotel and go to a cafe right next door.

I personally didn't like the fact that the hotel is inside another building and on the same building there's another hotel. There is just one elevator which is not enough for the amount of people who need to use it and besides that it's also used by the cleaners, by personal who was taking the trash out and also some debris since they were doing some remodeling on the building.

The location is perfect and the staff is fantastic. 100% recommended.
