Toc Hostel Madrid

The salon/ common area was fantastic! The rooms were cleaned very well daily. The beds were pretty comfortable, and the staff that I interacted with were very nice and helpful. The environment for me was very calm and peaceful for a hostel in the middle of the busiest part of Madrid.

My only minor issue was that it seemed the AC worked harder during the day, but I tend to get hot at night, and did get a bit hot on the top bunk of the 5th floor. Also, bed curtains would be a bonus to add privacy. Also, I wish the kitchen had a stove that was accessible to the guests because I was trying to be healthy and not spend a lot of money, and would have liked to cook something. But overall, the place was amazing and beautiful!

I loved that this hostel was right in the center. We had many stores and restaurants near us. We had the corte ingles right next to us, which helped us out when we needed to buy stuff. I loved the room we received. Our room had a balcony, and our room was very clean. When we arrived early, they provided storage for our luggage. Which helped us out a lot. Reception explained everything well, such as: the area, how to open the door with your fingerprint, and breakfast. We loved breakfast, and the coffee was delicious. On our last day, we had to leave early, and we wouldn't make it to breakfast. Reception explained that they had a picnic available. They gave us a bag with a sandwhich, donuts, and fruit. I appreciated this picinic bag do much. We were able to eat before going on our flight, and I loved this picnic idea. The place feels very welcoming and amazing service.We will surely recommend and come back to this beautiful hostel.

Property was centrally located, clean and comfortable. We had the quad/family room which was very spacious and had plenty of room for 4 adults. Staff were always friendly and happy to assist with any queries. Location is perfect, close to all the local sights and public transport options. Breakfast provided good spread and was very reasonable for the price. Use of fingerprints to access the room was very handy (no worrying about losing the key/card). Overall an excellent place to base yourself for a Madrid adventure.

Super clean great facilities. Separate women's toilet and shower areas. Bunks had their own light and plug to charge phone. Very comfortable beds. Great location. Awesome 10 Euros breakfast with the works. Great communal area with sofas, tables and chairs, and pool table. Free juice and water dispenser. Great helpful staff. Lockers to put your backpack just have to bring a lock.

Darkening curtains in the bunks so the light from people coming in an out wont disturb the sleeping. Would be nice if it was women only bunks but guess they fill the bunks as people check in.

No soul! No curtains round bed. Continuous piped music, same tale! I loved Ed Sheeran, but not anymore! As with Malaga TOC, no real kitchen. Last night, no sleep at all. Students talking in corridor, banging and knocking on doors, till 03.00 hours. I asked them to stop, but no! Then, I wanted a cup of tea before I left, and I was told the kitchen was closed till 8 am. Nowhere to sit in Reception and sitting areas all closed. A very 'cold' place. (Malaga TOC, superb and professional Reception Team and staff.)

Location was good and really nice that there is some what a proper kitchen. Common areas were spacious and nice.

Wi-Fi barely working (many reviews about this but still not fixed). Beds are lacking privacy- if curtains would be installed that would be awesome if not, at least make the “privacy wall” a bit longer. It would be great if guests were asked to bring back rented towels as now they are left on the hangers in bathroom and housekeeping does not take them away because they have no way of knowing whose are they. Kitchen could use a cutting knife.

This was my fourth multi-day stay at TOC Hostel & Suites in Madrid, Spain. It's absolutely one of the best hostels anywhere, and if you reserve a few months in advance you will pay much less than if you wait until the last night. Check-in upon arrival is fast, and after you scan your fingerprint or get a plastic magnetic card to open the door to your room, you find a simple room with comfortable bunk-beds, air-conditioning and soundproof windows. Breakfasts are available for 10€ per person, but I chose to go out to eat. The grand hostel is palatial with some of the main rooms having painted murals on the ceilings, classic plaster cornices and outside views. The hostel is in a safe area with many tourists and residents, convenient shops, tapas bars, fast food restaurants, and only a two minute walk to the Puerta del Sol metro stop. Everything is good at TOC.

The location is perfect, everything is super close, Plaza Mayor, Palacio Real, Gran Vía, you name it. 5 mins from metro Sol, so you can get anywhere in Madrid, train station Atocha is pretty close as well. Air conditioner works great, temperature in the room is comfortable. In the kitchen everything is always in order, you can leave your food in the fridge there. After check-out it’s possible to leave your bags at the reception and go explore the city if your flight is later this day. There are lockers in the rooms, but you need to have your own lock or get one at the reception. There are safe deposit boxes in the room as well. And of course these finger print locks are amazing, so you don’t need to worry about losing a key/card.

Doors in the bathroom/toilet don’t have locks, but I don’t think it’s a big problem (doors can still be shut, and no one really tries to enter when it’s occupied)

Excellent location, very clean, great facilities. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Beautiful building, nicely organised rooms.

Security- I find using fingerprints for hostel/room access outrageous. This is very private data that should not be collected in such a way; I almost turned back at the point when I realised that my fingerprint would be required. They offer no privacy policy or any assurance in regards data security. Bathroom was nice and clean but why on Earth there is no space to leave clothes or at least a hook, bench…anything. Basically, you need to walk out from the shower wrapped up in a towel, which they charge 2$, by the way, as there is nowhere to hang the clothes or even the towel inside the shower space. Too expensive.

Best hostel in the city. Right in the heart of centre, amazing staff very kind and helpful. I actually don’t remember the staff name he looked like he’s in mid 40’s he is the best staff. Really responsive, kind and welcoming. I just loved the rooms, washrooms, hostel building ,neighbourhood. Everything was perfect. Couldn’t ask for more. Our stay in Madrid got marvellous because of the hostel. It is a luxury hostel.

Can’t say a single thing we didn’t like.
