On the Camino Frances, close to its junction with the Camino de Invierno and the Castillo de Ponferrada, this modern 3-star hotel is popular with walkers. My room was spacious, quiet and comfortable, as was the bathroom, and (thank God!) air conditioned. I stayed on a Sunday, when the dining room was shut, but there are lots of good restaurants close by, mainly in and around Plaza Virgen de la Encina. Reception staff were on the ball and spoke English. I appreciated the lift!

Breakfast (in the bar) was a bit sparse - there was a tour group in the restaurant.

Location was excellent. The sound proof window and light blocking shade. Clean and spacious.

I booked all the stays with booking.com with my name and my payment method. My guest (my father) was listed. Apparently, they did not have my name on the reservation but they had my dad. Why? Because he is a male and I am not? I believe that is the case and I’m extremely offended.

Excellent location in historic centre by Templars castle. Staff welcoming. Spacious room. Super clean. Overlooking road. External noise minimal. Staff were friendly and helpful at all times. The close location to the Templar castle, just a few steps, was a real bonus, as was the garage parking below the hotel. The availability of both a cafe and restaurant, on site, was ideal following a long day's drive. The location was ideal for a day out to Santiago de Compostela, as well as other shorter journeys to local historic villages and the coast. Overall, great value for money.

The location of the hotel is amazing. The staff was great when we checked in but they had us waiting in the check out because they couldn't figure out their own system and wanted to make us pay for the room again.. overall, quite a standard environment but definitely comfortable and good value for money

There was a nice big bathroom. Mini refrigerador was useful Room and bed were clean and comfortable. Clearly the place was newer and taken care of. Location was excelente

The room was rather small. Breakfast hours were too límited for my early morning departure

We had a fantastic stay at El Castillo. The location is perfect, the facilities were very clean and the staff friendly and helpful. Far met our expectations. Highly recommend this place

The location is very close to El Castillo, reasonably large room, restaurant in the hotel. We found street parking next to the hotel.

Bathroom. Super modern bathroom sink with the tap just 5cm above the sink. Hard to reach out to toilet paper.

The hotel was central to our activity, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

No air-conditioning system made the night quite hot and uncomfortable, and then when opening the windows for air the outside light were bothersome.

The hotel is well located and has an underground car park (9€50/night), a restaurant with a good menu. In the morning you can have a "Spanish" breakfast. We stayed here for the second time.
