Clean and spacious with friendly staff.

There was no comfortable lounge bar only a large sports bar. The beach would have been fine if we were not hassled to but things from the locals.

Room very good and staff couldn't be more helpful, Rohan looking after the pool area was very helpful and gets a definite 10/10 for effort , the beach at Moragalla is excellent and there's an excellent beach bar and restaurant just along the beach . Breakfast buffet was good every day. Gayan and Indica our regular Tuktuk drivers both couldn't be more helpful

Everything about this property left us very pleased and impressed! Right from the refreshing welcome drink, to the pleasant surprise of the room upgrade, to the great location and ambience, we loved the warmth and the vibe!! All the staff - front office, housekeeping and those in the restaurant were very welcoming and friendly. A BIG THANK YOU to all of them for their great service! Food was good and of good variety. Thanks to Booking.com's Black Friday deal, we enjoyed a 15% discount on F&B across the board which was nice!! The quality of the bathroom amenities was good as well. To be honest, Occidental Eden wasn't our first choice but after this very enjoyable stay, it has become our first choice for future visits to Bentota.

Unfortunately, there were a few minor issues- the TV and remote in our room weren't functioning properly due to a connection and router issue. Neither did the weighing scale in the bathroom. For an environmentally conscious hotel chain, the 500ml bottles of water provided should be replaced with 1L bottles to reduce the environmental impact. Surprisingly, Cold Coffee wasn't available at the Hotel.

Suite was lovely with a large living space - plenty for our baby to crawl around, a large bathroom and beautiful bedroom overlooking the surroundings and onto the beach. The housekeeping, restaurant, pool bar and porter staff were all fantastic and very friendly! The staff excluding front of house/reception were all very attentive and met our needs. It would be lovely to come back.

The only downside to our experience were the welcome/reception staff upon check-in and check-out. Even after multiple times informing them of our arrival time and noting that I'd be coming with a baby, our room was not ready. We were advised to wait 20min which was unacceptable even after getting there well after their usual check in time. Further, after getting access to the suite, the sofa bed was not set up and the TV in the main bedroom was not working. It took a further 2-3 hours for the suite to be properly set up. For check out this took a couple of hours too. There is a general slow service for the front of house staff.

Without a doubt this is the best property of Bentota. I had booked a suite room for us as it was our anniversary. 1. To start with the property - Ideally situated in the heart of Bentota with an excellent architecture having a serene and captivating view! 2. The staff - Every staff member we encountered, from the check- in to the cleaning staff were delightful and eager to help! Thank you for the exquisite food and special Biryani and Chicken curry -Chef Deepal De Alwis, Manager Mahesh for considerations and our special requests and complimentary beverages., At the Reception - Niroshan, Tanya and Janani for decorating and upgrading our room to pent house. 3. The room- The dreamy view one would always wish for when staying in a beach facing room. Panaromic view which faced the pool and the beach. The breezy winds and blessing of blooms could be witnessed from the room. 3. The food- Unmatched flavours of the continent and Lanka ! The taste lingers on till the next meal. Well prepared meals with beautiful presentation. The cozy restaurant has left the best impressions! Well, Hospitable hosts, delicious dishes, beautiful presentation, wide spread and wonderful dessert. We recommend it to everyone! I would like to come back here repeatedly!!!

Not a single thing that we didn't like

Very beautiful, clean and comfortable hotel. Breakfast was amazing: plenty of options so that everyone can choose something to taste. There were enough of sunbeds both by the ocean and by the pool. And the staff is amazing: very friendly and helpful. It's worth mentioning that the hotel is located on a spot, where river falls into ocean, so, on one hand it's very nice, since the water is not that salty, but on the other hand, the water is dark brown and a bit colder, than in other places of the island

Not much places around the hotel to go to. Both restaurants that are by the hotel are overpriced and serve terrible food.

Staffs were all very friendly and helpful. Very quiet and relaxed place. Bedroom was great, comfortable bed and round sofa to sit on was very nice. Good place for couples who wants to go for honeymoon and for family with kids to just relax in the pool.

Reservation team are not very flexible for early check in and late check out, they were saying room was not available even if we saw lots of room were vacant during our stay. We upgraded for all inclusive package but turned out that it’s not really all inclusive, drinks selection not very good, even cappuccino is not included nor snacks like battered calamari or prawns. Food selection during buffet was ok but meat/beef choices were bad as the meat was very hard to chew!

What you expect from a 5 star hotel. Nice and clean and attentive staff. The location is good on the estury mouth of bentotat river.

Beware drinks at the pool bar and other menus are excluding taxes and charges. Apparenlty this is shown in small print on the menu but was never mentioned by staff.

Greta place to have a relaxing beach time. Resort is super nice and comfortable. Our rooms was very large and perfectly equipped, great view. We have used a room service a lot, which had a very good quality. The resort was not too crowded, which was nice too
