All went very smoothly...not quite top notch 5 star..but a good 4... Surrounding area, very nice, with excellent beaches just a little further south, e.g. Bentota beach..Kalutara main town, not worth mentioning...apart from the main Buddhist dome. Hotel,very nice & good buffet food, both morning & evening...excellent pool too. One positive, was that we actually met a very honest auto-ric (tuc-tuc) driver called Sammigul, so he helped us prepare for our travels around, as we hired a car...but he also took us around some local addresses for me to meet up with my other colleagues..

Getting harassed by local businesses in the local town centre of Kalutara, repeatingly asking for your business..& then ripping you off!...& also by many other auto-ric(tuc-tuc) drivers, touting for business, on the local hotel beach & entrance to the hotel main road.

Clean spatious rooms, great pool area!! Good breakfast buffé.

When eating at the restaurant, the staff were too quick at taking away plates which made us a bit stressed. It was almost like they were in a hurry to get us out of there. Also, staff could sometimes be annoying, for example we got a call around 3 times a day to our room, where they just asked if we were happy with the room. I get that such service is nice to a certain amount, but it was just too much for us. There were people on the beach (outside hotel area) that sat around and watched people in the hotel area. We noticed this especially when sitting on our balcony, which made us very uncomfortable sitting there (so we stopped doing that).

The staff was amazing and very hospitable. The room was always kept very clean and the entire resort looked stunning.

We did not like that the beach was public. We were approached by several strangers who did not work for the resort offering us their business. This was not an issue at first, but it became very uncomfortable when they would watch us from afar for hours and try to get our attention by waving and shouting when we were having lunch, swimming by the pool etc. We would have appreciated a heads up by the staff. I also wish we had known in advance while we were booking that we could not swim in the ocean. We were looking forward to staying at a resort with a beach, but we of course Recognize that this is due to safety.

I cannot recommend this hotel enough! It is a perfect relaxing and calming place, surrounded by nature, the sea on one side, the lake on the other, all in the middle of trees and flowers. The staff is amaaaazing, from the reception to the swimming pool service, the restaurant staff, and a special thank you to Mr Dinesh whose room service was just impeccable. Mr Dinesh is definetely the best room service provider i've ever encountered, and he is also a really pleasant individual :) And let's not forget the delicious food! Everyone at Avani is doing their best to make your stay wonderful. Finally, a bravo for the decorator of this hotel, flawless! I will come back for sure.

Absolutely nothing to complain about, everything was perfect.

beautiful location about 1 hour and 30mins from the airport. The beach and pool are well maintained with staff attending to you poolside serving drinks and food. rooms are a reasonable size with free wifi and tv. Room service is fast and the food is of an excellent standard everyday. Thank you to all staff especially Dinesh for cleaning our room daily. Avani have another hotel within walking distance and you can use the facilities there also which is great.

The food menu needs a bigger variety, the same menu is served in the restaurant, poolside, room service and bar. It’s the same food all day.

Our stay at Avani Kalutara was amazing. The staff were all so so helpful and lovely and always made sure we had everything we needed and more. It was a really perfect stay and we hope to return there some day! The hotel was beautiful.

Nothing, was all fantastic.

The location and facilities were exceptionally good. Pool was very good. Staff was courteous and they went out of the way to help us with the food

Breakfast buffet options could have been better, probably was related to the fact that the occupancy was lean. However food options of dining At Anantara was a bonus

Perfect place. Located on a small peninsula along with another more expensive hotel. Large and beautiful territory, which is carefully looked after. Quite varied and tasty food in the restaurant. Attentive and responsive staff. The managers allowed us early check-in and late check-out, which was very important considering our long night flights. Happy that we chose this hotel.

Big spread for breakfast catering to every taste, though a little variation each day would have been nice. The staff were very pleasant gentle and helpful, the hotel is well-designed for the price.

The hotel is situated next to the public beach and provides access to people not staying in the hotel that’s why there are many tuk tuk drivers who insist of taking their services which can cause discomfort to your stay.
