Wonderful hotel. Second time we stayed howver this time in the main house. Great for those that enjoy the eco tourism vibe. Pathways surrounded by vegetation immersing you in the fauna and flora of Sri Lanka. Room was very nice and the bed super comfortable. Swimming pool is still gorgeous. Breakfast was amazing with plenty of Sri Lankan options as well as fruit options. Some western elements were provided. We arrived earlier than our check-in time but staff were able to let us stay and use facilities until room was ready. Same for check-out. We were able to use facilities (had to leave room though) until our departure. Pick up and drop off from Mirissa train station was available. Perfect place for couples!

Everything! The place is wonderful, you are in the middle of the jungle but with all the services and cleaning of a 5 star hotel! Other than that the rooms are huge with big patio or balcony outside to enjoy nature sounds and relax. The staff is amazing they take care of everything. In particular we loved meeting Milan, he is nice, helpful and chatty. We were able to talk with him about Sri Lanka and share points of views, ways of living etc. They give you also free tuktuk rides from the hotel to the center, you don't need to worry about anything. Breakfast is very good and has a lot of choices. We deeply reccomend DCanal! It's a wonderful place!

We stayed here for 3 nights in 2023 and came back for 7 nights this year. Such an exclusive boutique hotel that only has 3 rooms and 3 bungalows. It feels relaxed and homely and all of the staff are so friendly. We had the Sunrise room which does what it says on the tin. You can fling open the doors, listen to the sounds of the birds and watch the sunrise from the comfort of your very comfortable bed. Or you could go and sit on the balcony and watch it! The breakfast is amazing. The buffet style table is filled with Sri Lankan and European delights and you can have eggs and bacon cooked fresh for you. The pool and gardens are delightful. Sitting around the pool is very relaxing and there is free tea/coffee/water/cake to keep you going. It is a 10 minute walk to the main drag which is ‘real Sri Lanka’ or you can get a free tuk-tuk. There are a number of walks from the property that take you even deeper into the Sri Lankan countryside. The only sounds you will hear are of birds, especially the plentiful peacocks. Mirissa beach has lots of shade and the sand is golden and clean. We will definitely stay for another week if we make a third visit to Sri Lanka

Gorgeous property! We stayed in a villa, the garden is exceptional, bed super comfy, breakfast was plenty, pool area very nice and well taken care of. Staff was very helpful, they provide a tuk tuk service to the main road (otherwise it's like a 10 min walk). Location is quiet which was nice for us, there are however some good restaurant and a spa in walking distance. We loved the wild animals on the property and the canal and even took an early morning canal boat tour which we can highly recommend! So much wildlife!

The lighting in the room is a bit dark, which makes it nice and romantic but means that sometimes things can be hard to find without your phone flashlight ;-)

The property is located just a quick walk from the Main Street which is ideal as it is quiet, there is wildlife around and you get to see how Sri Lankans live on your walk home. The small scale of the accommodation means you get personalised service from the most lovely staff, particularly Milan. The pool is lovely.

There wasn’t anything I didn’t like but would suggest some large bean bags or cushions be available at the sunny (canal) end of the pool.

The accomodation is settled in a beautiful tropical garden. You almost feel like you are in the rainforest. We had a really warm welcoming with fresh watermelon juice. The room was very clean and with an elegant design. Due to the warm lights, the room is a little bit dark, but very cozy though. The staff was extra nice and helpful. The communication was easy and they are arranging some Tours. We booked the private whalewatching and it was the amazing. The accomodation is not directly in mirissa Mainroad or beach, but they offer a complimentary tuktuk service to the Main Road. The breakfast was a Mix between Western and Sri Lankan and was perfekt. If we go to mirissa again, we would definetely choose D Canal House again.

The property is beautifully landscaped and feels like tropical forest oasis. The main house was very warm and inviting, with a stunning pool running along the front. The bedrooms were well decorated and the bathroom felt like a spa. The beds were big and super comfortable. Highly recommend the breakfast in the morning (pancakes were unreal). While this hotel is tucked away from the main road, there is a very well run free tuk tuk service throughout the day. We’d like to especially thank Lahiru, Priyankara and Milan for looking after us. We were very comfortable for our 5 day stay.

We spent our last night on the south coast at Canal D House, before heading off to Colombo, and this was the perfect place for us. It was an oasis of calm - the beautiful garden is expertly maintained, the pool is the perfect place to cool down and relax and bird song is heard everywhere. While only staying one night, the staff managed to organise a last minute cooking class in the evening for us (which we loved) and a turtle swim the next morning. While the turtle swim was cancelled due to low visibility, the fantastic staff gave us a tip of where we could go see the turtles on our own and arranged a three-wheeler for us. We did end up swiming with turtles in a nearby bay and it was truely magical - probably even more so because we went on our own and not as part of a big boat tour group. Thank you Canal D team for making our last days in Sri Lanka so special! We'll be back!

Staff very friendly, from booking our stay there was initial contact. On the day check in was from 3pm but there was no problems with us arriving before the time and leaving our bags until check in times. Beautiful walk from the main gates with fountains and ponds greenery area. Felt very relaxing. The hotel building is located in a quiet area about a 15 minute walk from the beach areas. The hotel provide a free Tuk-Tuk service to the main road and return between 10am-7pm. If you choose your own is probably about 400 rupees depending where you are coming from. Rooms were lovely spacious with a balcony overlooking a river with lily pads. Towels and beach towels were provided. Pool area was lovely quiet and relaxing with sunbeds, free water/tea coffee between certain hours, other drinks were available to purchase. There were a couple of power cuts however the hotel have a generator so there’s no issue. Would certainly recommend this hotel would certainly tell our friends about it and hope to visit again.

If we were being super picky the lighting was quite dark in the room, however understand that this is probably the ambiance/feel of the room.

Everything! We stayed in Hibiscus bungalow which had everything we needed for our stay. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful with any request we had. The property was a short walk into town or free tuk tuk in daytime hours which was perfect as it was away from the busy streets of Mirissa meaning we had a tranquil and peaceful stay but were close enough to enjoy the beaches and bars! The pool and garden area was so picturesque, and the winding gardens through the hotel were full of wildlife - tortoises, koi carp and butterflies! Lovely buffet breakfast with traditional Sri Lankan delicacies. Loved the eco friendly touch - being able to refill water bottles with cold water for the day. If we are ever in Mirissa again we will definitely be staying here for longer! Couldn’t recommend more ☺️ thank you D Canal House!
