Prices on menu didn't include VAT or service charge so food and drinks bills were much higher than expected

Location, facilities, room, room services, etc. I really can not say enough good things about this Hotel and it’s Staff. From the moment that we arrived until our departure after 10 days. We were treated like a family. Marriott is located in front of the best surf spot in Weligama. You can see the swell coming from your balcony. I will come back without hesitation.

Refrigerator from the room wasn’t cooling enough.

Breakfast is excellent. Special thanks to Sashini at breakfast time. She always met us with a genuine lovely smile and was very friendly. We also had the evening buffet twice. That was also very lovely. The fish restaurant is a lovely experience and the food was delicious. The best of our holiday.

The bathroom lighting is very poor. It really needs brightening up somewhat. The daily bang bang bang beat music near the pool area. Occasionally they played nice music but it was mostly awful and not restful. I did have to go and ask them one day to please turn it down.

A spacious, cozy room. Clean (taking out the balcony glass - it was terribly dirty). Good pool, with comfortable sunbeds. Very good breakfast. At dinner, however, it seemed that something was missing from the offer (too much Chinese and Sri Lankan cuisine). Infrastructure - many good cafes around. Great view from the roof terrace.

Used. Broken tiles, etc. interior objects. Elevator - too long wait (3 elevators and sometimes 1 was not working). Sunbed reserving: It was annoying that the staff allow this! I reprimanded it, but it continued anyway. In the final, I removed all the towels myself, where there were no belongings or people nearby. The beach was not what I expected. The children's playroom should be improved. The items are very used.

We were very happy to stay in this beautiful hotel with a great staff. From check-in to check-out, everything was fine. The rooms are modern and offer a fantastic view. The area is very nice and clean. The food at the Welligama Kitchen is definitely a highlight, and we enjoyed the excellent food and service a lot. We would like to express a special thank you to our personal "assistant," Nishadi; she was very kind and helpful. We would also like to thank the great kitchen and service team, with a special mention to Nazmi, Thiruna, and Fayaz. They truly made a difference by doing a fantastic job in making us feel very welcome and providing a high-end service. In conclusion, our stay was nothing short of exceptional. The combination of outstanding service, luxurious accommodations, and culinary delights made it a truly memorable experience. Without a doubt, I will be recommending this hotel to friends and family, and I look forward to returning for another delightful stay in the future. BR, Denise and Glenn

nothing, everything was perfect

The hotel is great, the staff even better. The way they treated us I even like this place more! Specially I would like to notify few of them : Mr Pamuditha , Mr Dimal and Mrs Lakesha from the restaurant. They really made our stay amazing. They were very helpful with my request regarding everything. Any of my family’s desires were immediately met. My baby was needed special meals, everything was provided!!! Food: dinner was better than breakfast, food was delicious, gresh and great verity. Specially I liked sea food, meat and fruits. The room was fine, clean and bright. The house keeping team amazingly organized the cleaning every day.

I would love to come back here again. Just few things I wanna mention. Kids swimming pool is really useless as it’s tiny. In the main pool there were no handrails, which make way down to the pool difficult for old ppl and for me with small baby. The play area for kids is very old, definitely need some update. And for 1 year old baby there is no much interaction over there.

The staff were incredibly accomodating to our party. We had a small complication were booking.com was showing double rooms as only 1pax. We had called and confirmed before arriving/booking to which hotel said we were able to book for 3 people. This information was relayed to our booking and so when we were checking in, the staff were able accomodate us anyways.

It was a bit strange that staff would ask if everything is okay and then ask for your room number. This was only a minor thing which made us feel a little watched, but they were super friendly.

Good hotel, good restaurants, good breakfast.

Russian people are very much there. They drank alcohol in the evening and it was a bed for relaxing other people.

The service was excellent. the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and attended quickly to all our needs. The independent surfing instructors were great too! We loved our room as well particularly the balcony. The location is amazing, just a few steps from a smooth sandy beach with the perfect waves for all levels of surfers. The water is shallow for a long way in without any rocks which makes it ideal for families with younger kids.

The children’s playroom can be improved. There isn’t much inside. However the attendants in there were great. Also they use an oil in the ground floor to keep the insects away which smells pretty terrible, maybe a better scent

Weligama Bay Marriott Resort & Spa offers a splendid stay, marked by the warmth and assistance provided by the Recreation Department, particularly by a staff member Ranjit. His helpful, friendly demeanor and constant readiness to assist enhance the overall guest experience significantly.

While the hotel boasts an array of amenities and a beautiful location, it could benefit from a soft refurbishment to freshen up its spaces. Additionally, a bit more attention to the cleanliness of public areas would elevate the guest experience even further.
