Very kind and friendly staff, always ready to help! Very nice location as well, especially if you are into surfing and/or watching surfers tackle the waves!

Since the street is nearby, trucks, tuk tuks and cars (as well as trains) are noisy, although it is definitely not a deal-breaker. In addition, the cleanness could be improved in the rooms. Otherwise awesome spot, would definitely visit again soon!

It's a perfect place if you want to relax. The pool and beach are literally next to each other, and the experience is great. It's got nice little restaurants near the resort on the beach that have a good vibe. There is a Ceylon spa which is an amazing place.

Staff's level of English is low, so it's a bit difficult to communicate. Menu was very few options, especially for kids. Massage/Spa is below par, you would expect a resort that has people coming to chill and relax would have a good option. They overcharge if you are using their car, and the quality of the car is below par too.

We booked WBR for the final part of our Sri Lankan trip and the team went above and beyond to make it extra special for us. The hotel is perfectly located and you have the option to dine on the beach at the Cutty Sark restaurant, which is the extra bonus. The pool and the hotel spa make your stay even more enjoyable and I feel utterly relaxed during (and after)my stay. Sitting on the beach watching the surfers with a fresh coconut or juice from the bar is heaven! A huge thank you to Nimanthi and her team for providing us with such fantastic memories of Weligama.

There was an issue with our room on the first night that we arrived but Nimanthi and her team resolved it the following day. The customer service that we received is beyond recognition and again I would like to say thank you. WBR is a smaller hotel compared to the Marriot next door but with that comes a very personalised and caring approach for their guests

WBR was the perfect place to stay. If you are looking to go somewhere and be able to truly relax in a warm and welcoming environment then I would definitely recommend this place. The Hotel sits on the beach, when you dine in the restaurant you have a lovely view of the sea. The staff were always incredible friendly and helpful. The food was varied and always of a high quality. From this location you can walk along the beach for miles or just watch the surfers ride the ways, there is something amazing captivating about the place. I enjoyed my vacation immensely and would definitely return.

The fact that I had to leave and go back to work.

We were a family of 4 who stayed at the resort’s Villa for 4 nights. The villas are charming and spacious for 4. It has a double bed and an additional solo bed next to the entrance. Loved the feel of the villa, very charming, and lots of real wood. The sit out space is ideal for relaxing as well. Lovely place to stay for a few days with the kids or with a group of friends. Its also located right on the beach and in the most happening and central part of Weligama, also right next to the Mariott (they share a wall). Some nice restaurants are around the resort and Tuktuks stand out in front in case you need to go anywhere. There’s a single restaurant that serves multi cuisine food. Service is Sri Lanka style, relaxed, but you’ll get what you want. When in Sri Lanka do try their fruits and fruit platters. We loved the Pineapples the best followed by the Watermelon, Coconuts and Mango. The staff is polite, and our kids had a great time playing darts with the lifeguard everyday. My rating shows 8, but I would give it a 8.3-8.5. Would we stay here again??……… Yes.

The pool is adequate but ordinary. Nice for relaxing though. The taste of the food at the restaurant was average, however the breakfast is adequate. All villas are not the same quality. Amenities/quality of amenities in one villa may be different from another. For eg we first got a villa and the older AC broke down. The staff instantly changed our villa to another and we noticed that almost everything in the new villa was mostly better/newer. Toilets are clean but could be made cleaner. Please Note: there’s no deal breaker here. Its a really lovely place to stay. Tip: Try to get the Villas in the row away from the row next to the Mariott. Also carry a 2-pin (round) travel adapter.

We stayed for 3 nights here, Great location, friendly staff, room was lovely, very clean and spacious! Breakfast was nice, we had lunch once but other than that chose to dine at other restaurants in the area as we like variety.

Some small things could hugely improve the value for money - no cappuccinos/lattes included with breakfast, but are available at a charge. At $200 a night this is unacceptable. Attempted to use the spa but unfortunately there was no female therapist available they day I enquired. Also the amount of water provided per day could be increased as you can not drink the tap water.

Location...location...location Awesome place right on the beach I could hear the waves at night and loved my early morning walks on the beach. It rained the entire time I was there and it was a nice luxury to have a place to go to crash and spend some time when not sitting outside. There were movie channels and cable TV - which for me was an luxury as I don't have a TV or cable at my home. It was cozy, spacious, hot water and a wonderful location to access other restaurants and town without the noise and hassle of accessing the main street.

I stayed in villa 4, which is ideally located closest to the pool and beach, but unfortunately located right beside the Mariotts outdoor bar/entertainment area. While this wasnt a problem most of the time, they hosted a "private" outdoor party until 1am which kept me wide awake until the music ended - not at all the fault of Weligama Beach Resort, but a rude inconsideration of the Marriot (I walked over to see what the party was and there were only 6 people there for all the noise). Huge thanks to the security of both hotels for trying to help get the music turned down.. the other 2 nights the music was quiet by 10pm.

We stayed here about 6 years ago and loved it so much we booked again this time around. It didn’t disappoint - such a lovely chilled vibe, beautiful rooms and great pool/beach access.

I know everything has gone up in price but this place was one of the most expensive place we stayed the whole trip. It was lovely and worth it for a treat, but it was pricey. Also felt a bit like the restaurant hadn’t changed their menu in a while - it was ok and a nice setting but didn’t feel like there was enough to eat here more than once in our stay.

Access to the beach is phenomenal and all the staff were attentive to our new family’s needs. We appreciated everyone’s efforts to make sure we had a good stay, and even when my headphone was lost - housekeeping was good enough to look through the linen trolley-bins and fish it out. The rooms are very comfortable and the bed was a delight.

The bar staff are unfamiliar with how cocktails should be made. I recognise there is a cultural difference, though neither staff nor restaurant management know how the cocktails taste which is a problem when these are some of the most expensive items guest will spend on during the stay. Our aperol spritz had zero spritz, as if the soda was flat and perhaps not enough Prosecco. The daiquiri was simply liquor and lime thrown together, so we opted to stick to sunset beers instead.

Unprofessional welcoming by front desk receptionist - Sahan Viaesnik. No proper welcoming and unprofessional attitude towards us when we arrived to the hotel at 9 pm... Refused to listen and asked the payment as soon arrived. Too long description of the hotel rools and policies for the person coming from long hours trip at night time. Although both dinner and breakfast were delicious, it would be better to update breakfast menu at least 50 %.
