We stayed in a villa with private pool. The villa was very nicely decorated and comfortable. The private pool was huge and very clean. The outdoor shower might not by everyone’s taste, but we liked it. The outdoor lounge by the pool, was in the shade and comfy. The entire resort is well maintained and looks beautiful. Amazing food in the restaurant! We didn’t plan to eat there every night but ended up doing just that. Every dish we ordered was extra ordinary and mouthwatering. We can highly recommend Sala Phuket. The only “downside” - but we just mention it because we think a policy like this is really not common in Thailand - is that the prices are given net on the menu, 17 % in total are added at the end. Even though this policy is transparently flagged, we found it a bit irritating and definitely not necessary.

the beach pools and location are fab, so are the facilities in terms of spa and staff. also, amenities in the room were very good. I do recommend if you're looking for secluded and relaxing place.

outdoor toilets and bathrooms as much as it sounds exotic, we need to understand we are in middle of jungle, which now is being reclaimed and not everything goes as per plan. mosquitoes, dung beetles, frogs, all were a plenty despite numerous people working round the clock in 2 shifts to clean them up. please note, it's still is a great place but just not for us if you're paying that kind of rates.

Overall, the resort is in the best location in Phuket in our view (Maikhao beach is really tranquil). We have stayed in the signature villa with private pool and we must admit we loved it. The pool was huge, privacy was ensured in an excellent way and the outdoor bath is super cozy. Anyway, we would rate villa per se as 10/10. Hotel amenities. First of all, breakfast and food was really good. We would rate service 6/10

Villa. To be noted, we felt that the villa is a bit worn out and might need a renovation soon. Hotel amenities. However, overall service (though some people were really professional) was a bit chaotic and subpar. People in the reception sometimes seemed confused and did not know well what services the hotel was offering. Also, they have one single area for restaurant, bar, pool and sun beds, which is crowded whole day. e.g. in the restaurant, dinner time, there were a number of people with children who were screaming, running around and so on, and the staff was incapable to manage those. The hotel that pretends to be a romantic one either should be “adults only” or have separate areas for people without and with children. Children kill all the romance.

Everything about the hotel was excellent from being picked from airport on arrival to our departure. 99% of the staff are amazing they can't do enough for you. Their greetings are genuine and sincere. The villa was well equipped clean cool and the outside bathroom brilliant. The restaurant will cater for your every need they cooked separate dishes for my partner at breakfast which was greatly appreciated. The pool in the villa is of a good size and not just a plunge pool but if you wanted a longer swim the hotel pool is quite long and there is the sea if you want. The beach is very long and sandy and turtles lay their eggs there. Special mention to Beautiful Oh who helped with car hire, restaurant recomedations, places to visit and resolving my only issue whilst there in fact all the girls on reception were brilliant.I would recommend hiring a car as it is a fair way to any attractions or larger towns taxis are available and provide good service but i liked the freedom of having my own transport. The room is cleaned daily and is restocked with water etc and the room is turned down each evening and mosquito deterent turned on. You are given a pillow menu and soap choice when checking in and its those little things that helps make it all a bit special.

It may have been a personality clash but the male receptionist i couldn't connect with.

Everything is exceptionnal. From very far the best in north Phuket. Elegant, quiet, stylish.

It is crowded with mosquitos (but they try to do something) and Russians, you feel like you’re in a russian vacation camp sometimes.

room privacy and calmness, the pool and beach area were very nice and relaxing, however we couldn’t swim in the beach as the red flag was always up. We had the chance to take a bike and ride around the adjacent lake which was fun! Turtle Village is nice for a quick visit, but very few dinner options and shops

a lot of insects at night in the bar, but no insects or lizards in room if you keep the doors closed. Villa could be a bit claustrophobic cause of the villa fence walls surrounding the villa

The villas were amazing - most of the hotel is made up of the villas and it’s really unique in that sense. The huge space you get and pool all to yourself is just really special. The bed etc was really comfortable and we loved staying there and were sad to leave. As someone who gets really annoyed by sand sticking to you when sunbathing, having grass by the main pool area was a game changer and the two pools are amazing, huge and clean. There is a great bar selling lunch and snacks options which were fab (truffle arancini…!!!) and sunbeds were really comfy. Breakfast is excellent - buffet with egg station etc and great a la carte options incl avocado toast and eggs. We only stayed a few nights so did just eat at the hotel those nights and it was beautiful - really peaceful and they had live music on both nights. Great international and Thai options. The spa is fantaaaaastic, with excellent prices. location is only 20min from Phuket airport but you wouldn’t know it at all! The hotel has direct access to a stunning beach which was really lovely and quiet and great for going on leisurely walks. Would definitely recommend staying here a few nights.

The service at dinner was fairly slow but the staff were really really nice and couldn’t fault their politeness. We went in March and I don’t know if it’s the type of people that stayed or the number of people staying, but we saw so many people just reserving all the sun loungers in the sun before breakfast which was pretty annoying. After breakfast when we were going to sunbathe we were able to find a few spare sun loungers in the shade though and dragged them into the sun (the grassy bit is so big this is very easy) so it wasn’t an issue ultimately, but did have an eye roll at the people! haha

> A lot of mosquitoes, especially in the evening. However, at the hotel it is possible to buy a spray to help deal with it. At certain days the hotel conducts a smoke treatment against mosquitoes, which has a specific smell. > Some of the lights in the room were periodically blinking, probably due to overheating. > Internet is quite slow

My partner and I stayed at SALA Mai Khao, Phuket for 5 days, with our 1-year old toddler. Our transfer from the airport to the hotel was easy. The staff who checked us in was very empathetic of how our toddler was tired from the flight and did her best to complete check-in swiftly. She was proactive in asking if we needed certain baby essentials - e.g. a bottle steriliser, and provided them. We were so thankful. The baby cot we requested as well as the safety gates around the pool was set up for us prior to arrival. Service was almost impeccable. We could see the staff worked very hard to maintain a high level of service standard.

Service at the restaurant could probably be improved though - we had our orders forgotten twice. Perhaps more staff is needed especially during busy times.
