The hotel is situated right on the Golden horn, it provides amazing view from the restaurant and the front rooms. It was wonderful inside and outside. The lovely hosts helped us with the parking of the car (the place is very close and secure), answered every question about the city and public transport. In the evening Barba Vasilis was so crowded, but they still managed to provide us a lovely table and delicious dinner. The breakfast is so cute, calm and feels like home. The position of the hotel is really convenient, whether you are going to Topkapi Sarayi or Galata kulesi, it has close bus and metro stops. I wish I could stay longer.

The walls and ceiling can be a little thin and you can hear noises from above and near rooms, but I don't consider it as a big problem, because it is clear that the hotel is a beautiful vintage building and those are normal things.

Vedi Istanbul, e poi muori! To paraphrase the Italian expression, I would say that Istanbul is a tourist destination at least as perfect as Naples. We had this thought in mind when we chose Istanbul as our destination for 5 days. The undecided people should have no hesitation in visiting this magnificent city. It is a mix of richness and poorness, culture and subculture, simple and complex, to summarize a mix of “white and black”. People are simple, warm, helpful, unfortunately too many of them don’t speak english (long live Google Translate). 😊 For our 5 days stay, we were counscient that we can't visit entire city. We proposed ourselves as goal visits to most remarkable historic places: Galata tower, Topcapi Palace, old otoman mosques, former Sancta Sophia (Holy Wisdom, Justinian I church), now Ayasofia, bazars etc. etc. Troya Hotel Balat is a small hotel, stylish vintage style hotel, clean, coquettish… it is close to the main historical and commercial objectifs, having good acces to all kind of public transport. The personnel of the hotel is warm, always available and Mrs. Semiha Hüzmeli is a great interlocutor. It was one of the best vacations we ever had. If it will be possible (peace, health, money), we will gladly return.

We loved the hospitality rendered by all the staff, friendly, accommodating and helpful.... It was like our home away from home. A quaint style hotel with semi spiral stairs(no elevator) but we did not mind at all. The sea view rooms we had were just awesome as sitting on the balcony overlooking the Golden Horn and the road below was fun and we loved it. The breakfast was good, we just loved the fried sausage...it was tasty. The Barba Vasilis restaurant with its vibrant atmosphere and the amazingly delicious food is a must to dine at...Divine. The location is great and especially the surrounding neighbourhood of Fener with its many sidewalk shops, bistros, colourful painted homes and historical sites. This is just a short walk down the road and must for all visitors. This area is a hidden gem in Istanbul... it is cultural, stylish and shopping a bliss as it is not crowded nor expensive.

Very beautiful location of the hotel, right near the Golden Horn and a tram line (beautiful view). Great location regarding main touristic districts, good transport connection (the route we used from/to IST airport is M11+M7+T5). Great breakast in the 1st floor restaurant with the view to the Golden Horn which is very beautiful. Antique building which is very enjoyable to stay at. The room is full of different antique accessories. An only disadvantage is tight spiral stairs (but the personnel helps you to move your baggage throught these stairs). Polite and helpful personnel.

The score is not 10 only because of some cleaning issues. Small carpets near the bed and in the toilet were a little bit dirty. Looks like they better need to be replaced for the new ones.

Hotel Troya Balat is a beautifully restored 123 year old home with many features from the period and new work is period appropriate. It’s an absolutely charming hotel and I am sorry that I couldn’t stay longer. It is within sight distance of the Fener ferry stop as well as the Fener tramway stop on the T5 line which made it very easy for me to get there from Söğütlüçeşme train station and also very easy to get to the M11 metro line to the airport. The breakfast was absolutely exceptional. Easily the best breakfast offering on my month long trip. And the staff were uniformly polite, friendly and helpful. 10 out of 10.

Loved the ambience of the hotel, even if it meant climbing up 3 flights of narrow stairs. The gentleman who checked us in was most helpful in bringing up our bags despite him being rather busy at the restaurant. The room was smallish but toilet and shower were nicely set up. Great view. Instant hot water. Breakfast was fantastic. Loved it. Great restaurant with really nice food. Love the location.Tram and bus stops at convenient walking distance. As long as you know what you are paying for, this is a great little hotel that I would definitely revisit.

The charming old details of the rooms is heartwarming and just so well done. The current day focus on environmentally friendly practices like providing water for the rooms in reusable glass containers is above and beyond! The breakfast offerings are just as extraordinary. The restaurant is something you must experience. What a fantastic location on the water at the edge of Fener/Balat. Great neighborhood. And all the people here at the hotel and restaurant are so very friendly and helpful. Can’t say enough about this place and what a great experience it’s been.

The hotel is excellent, nice and cozy. The staff is really helpful. There is a parking in front of the hotel. The room was big enough. There breakfast was good and varied. The restaurant is actually greek tavern and served delicious food. I recommend it. The neighbourhood is really interesting. There are many cafes and restaurants where you can eat. There is bus stop and metro station in close distance. And the view is just magnificent.

If you want to try a different hotel style, here you are. This is a fantastic traditional hotel style. Taking your coffee in a classic style balcony facing the sea is the most relaxation feeling you ever have. The hotel is very close to Misir Pazar, Eminunu square where you can take a sea tour in the Bosphore. The Hotel manager was very helpful. She is very friendly and offered and provided her assistance and advise for better journey in Istanbul.

As the hotel style is classic, you have to forget using elevators and use stairs instead. The breakfast is very poor, no varieties. if you stay for long, you will see only white cheese , bread and olives every morning. Few staff who are working in the restaurant under the hotel are not friendly with hotel's guests.

The location is excellent, the staff are so friendly and helpful. The restaurant in the evenings was a real treat with such delicious Greek food. The rooms are cozy and comfortable. We highly recommend this hotel. It was a pleasure to stay there.

The shower facility needs attention.
