This place was great! I arrived at almost midnight because the train was late, but the man behind the desk still greeted me with enthusiasm and helped me figure out public transportation the next day to Ani Ruins. The room was small but very clean and nice and well-equipped. The next day, a hotel employee actually walked me to the correct bus stop to get to Ani, which was so nice. No one speaks English but the manager (or owner?) is an enthusiastic and proficient user of Google translate, so it was never a problem. Also, on the day I left he kindly walked me to an ATM to help me find it. If you are looking for a clean, nice, inexpensive place to stay with a helpful staff who isn't trying to sell you anything, you don't need look further, you've found it!

Extremely friendly and helpful team at the hotel, from moment I arrived and despite my major language barrier (google translate coming to the rescue). Made me feel welcome and comfortable in an unfamiliar area. The team arranged a tour for me the following day no hassle and looked after my bag and kindly coordinated for the guide to then drop something back at the hotel which I’d left in the tour bus. I liked everything. Not a ‘negative’, rather a comment for those considering where to stay in Kars. From what I saw, it is one of the more affordable hotels and good value for money in terms of location, services and stay. Rooms and breakfast are very adequate but obviously not the glitz of a 5-star hotel. Which suited me perfectly. My kettle didn’t work and the team filled it up with hot water downstairs.

I would rate the staff 10/10 - they were extremely helpful, waited for me for check in which was about 10.30pm, helped organise me on to buses and much more. But apart from the staff, the breakfast was good and the room facilities were adequate. Despite the couple of drawbacks, it was a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. Thank you everyone at the hotel.

Staff were super welcoming, friendly, and communicative. They accomodated a last-minute booking for a late-night (23:00) check in from the Dogu Express train from Ankara. Most of all, the receptionist was really patient with me since I do not speak Turkish. He spoke English with me for most of what I needed, like payment, finding my room, and getting to the ATM and the bus station. Great location ~13 minute walk from the train station and bus station. Plenty of restaurants, bakeries, and shops around for what you need. My room was clean and the bed was comfortable. I appreciated the Western style shower with good water pressure. There was a simple, fresh, filling breakfast in the morning. Overall, really good value.

The second floor hallway where my room was did smell strongly of cigarette smoke. I know the property can't control this, as most Turkish people smoke a lot. The staff really fixed this issue well, so thanks to them! They had opened my windows for me to air out the room in advance, so my room smelled fine and had fresh air. The other floors seemed a bit better, so maybe try a higher floor and ask for the windows to be opened in advance if you're smoke sensitive. Worked really well for me!

I only stayed for 1 night, arriving late and leaving early, so this is a limited review. It was a perfectly satisfactory hotel, decent value, clean and comfortable. If I'd visited a few years ago, I'd probably have gone further and described it as a good hotel; now it is starting to look a bit 'tired', but nothing that would stop me recommending it.

The breakfast was pretty disappointing. There were plates with a very limited array of salad items, covered in cling film, some boiled eggs and some mediocre olives. That was it. I ate the boiled eggs and forced down a few olives, but didn't enjoy them. The towels in the bathroom were clearly well used and were pretty dry and scratchy and there were a couple of other minor dilapidations that wouldn't have been acceptable at the Ritz, but at a small hotel in a remote town, really can't be complained about too much.

It's a really nice hotel at a perfect location! Great value for money. I'm sorry I had to leave early, because of Turkish elections on Saturday, I had to leave on Friday. I would note a special recommendation for Gökmen from Otopark Taksi. He took me to see Ani and he also brought me to Batumi! He's a very good and safe driver which was really nice especially for the drive through the mountains to Batumi!

I loved the Kent Ani! The place has a wonderful atmosphere which matches the feel of the amazing city of Kars, too. The location is great, right by the main roads but quiet at night. The staff was very helpful (and let me check in super early when I arrived from a night bus). Excellent value for the price. I wound up extending my stay I liked it so much. Highly recommend. Thank you!

Good location, nice modern hotel. Ok breakfast included

-Staff do not speak much english despite hotel attracting many foreign tourists. Also, it’s a shame they are not knowledgeable on transport to Georgian border as I am sure many travellers take this route and would appreciate help (there is a bus than runs to Georgian border at Khozapini lake). All I was told is to take a taxi which is of course not affordable for most budget travellers -I asked about washing and staff wanted to charge 150 lira for this service! Even in Switzerland, I don’t think you would pay so much…

Just about everything. I’m a backpacker and pay £7-£12 per night for a hostel bed. To get a room this quality for £12 is unbelievable. What did I like just about everything. Helpful pleasant staff, amazingly comfortable bed, quiet room, all the facilities I need and more. For backpackers this is like living like a king and is easily affordable to most. Unbelievably there were quite a few backpackers in the hotel and six of us went for a great meal together. Just want to say a massive thank you to hotel staff.

Absolutely no complaints whatsoever. This place is amazing, way beyond my expectations for the price I paid.

Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Hospitable Receptionist Özlem made us feel very welcome and gave some great tips about sights in the area. And some free Turkish language tips and tricks as a bonus. Heartwarming hospitality. Location of the hotel is perfect. City center and free parking available.

The room was somewhat warm. No airconditioning which makes sense in a mountain city with cold winters. We had hot summer weather during our stay and slept top floor under the roof. So bad luck. Breakfast was good although a bit limited. This all being said. The price for our stay was very attractive, so no complaints whatsoever. Still recommended for a few nights in Kars.
