The location was perfect. Directly across the street from the beach. Comfortable bed and really cozy room. The bathroom was very clean with a walk-in shower. Restaurant and bar on the ground floor. Very close to the incline railroad that travels to the top of a nearby hill with a spectacular view. A GREAT value for the money. Late May weather was beautiful. Breakfast was included in the price. First time here and was very fortunate in my choice. WOW!

Please note: First time visitors should not expect a brand new structure. This is not a dislike for me but some people, especially those from the US, (I am a US citizen) may expect something different. The Glengower is a well-kept historic structure. It is clean, comfortable and staffed with truly excellent staff. There is no AC but cool ocean breeze, open window and cold nights provide comfortable environment if daytime outside air is warm. Some visitors may not want to stay in an older hotel but the Glengower adds a wonderfully unique flavor you will never get at a chain hotel.

checked in on line so was easy when we arrived ,everything was explained for our stay .breakfast was outstanding i am vegetarian and this was catered at breakfast staff were great and was no problem if we varied from the menu.

we booked week before our table for evening meal for 1800 hrs when we arrived was explained that on a sunday it was early close so we had table for 1730 will was ok for us fri and sat night went well.when we came to get our table on sunday we were told no roast dinners left we were not aware roast dinners were on the menu if we had known we would have asked for a table earlier in the day to get a roast..we were shown to a table by the door and felt as if we were just shoved there as no other tables available and they were due to close up to be honest we felt as if we were a nuisance......re menu as i really struggled with the choice as little for vegetarians .

We can't wait to return to this hotel - simply delightful. The team is the beating heart of this place and every single one of them work tirelessly to make your visit perfect; nothing was too much trouble. The food is exceptional. You're spoilt for choice and the quality, portion sizes and presentation nail every aspect. We ate breakfast lunch and dinner across our stay and whilst the town has some lovely places to eat and drink out at, if you only did so here you will not be disappointed. We had a lovely Seaview room which was extremely clean and well appointed with tea, coffee, chocolate and bottled water as well as extra pillows and blankets if required. Thoroughly recommend the hotel and commend the team for a fantastic stay - thank you.

The only niggle is the lack of dedicated parking which resulted in playing musical car parking places (4 hours permitted on the seafront but no return within 4 hours) but don't let this put you off.

The rooms were spacious and we had a lovely view of the sea. I thought the room had a small fridge, but it didn't. On arrival, we were greeted, checked in, and given directions to our rooms. We had booked a table for dinner and a front table with sea view was reserved for us. The food was very nice and the portion size was good. Breakfast, which is included in the tariffff was great. You could have cereal, toast, fruit, yoghurt, pastries and a cooked breakfast. A great selection of food to pick from, including vegetarian options.

Parking was on the road outside or behind the building. Wee were lucky to snag one. I would suggest to anyone staying, to leave your car parked near the accommodation and walk to the cliff railway. No parking available anywhere near it.

The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful from the moment we arrived so we felt welcome immediately, thank you. The sea view from our top floor window was stunning, especially as the weather was glorious. The breakfast was good, the food we had in the restaurant was very nice and the menu was interesting. We especially enjoyed sitting out front having a beer and watching the world go by - including a dolphin which swam past , much to everyone's delight. The Glengower provided everything we wanted - a lovely, quiet private room with excellent facilities and a stunning sea view, a comfy bed, a spotless bathroom, a really nice restaurant and breakfast room, a friendly bar with superb real ale. The location is perfect as it is at the far end of the promenade, so very little traffic going past which makes sitting out front very nice, and with the convenience of a very short walk to the shops and restaurants. Perfect.

There was nothing we didn't like, we loved it and would definitely come back. Parking is naturally a little tricky around the sea front so we had to keep an eye out for spaces and move the car when we could but that didn't affect our enjoyment of our stay at all. The only food I didn't enjoy was the pancake breakfast, and wished I'd chosen something else, because I imagined a plain pancake full of fruit and these were very sweet pancakes, covered in a lot of syrup so it seemed like having a dessert for breakfast but the fresh fruit platter on the buffet was excellent and my partner enjoyed his cooked breakfast.

Amazing location and lovely people. Very comfortable bed and nice armchairs to sit and enjoy the sea view. Excellent breakfast.

The decor, carpets, etc, are rather tired, and the whole place could use a coat of paint inside. The shower room is tiny and there was only one hand towel. The food in the evening was good, but we literally had one minute between finishing our starter and the main course arriving. This rather spoiled the meal as we weren't quite ready to start eating again. It also suggested that the food had been ready too early and had been kept warm - I had ham, egg & and chips, and the eggs were hard. Disappointing.

All staff were welcoming, polite and helpful. The room and hotel throughout was absolutely spotless! Our room 22 had a fabulous sea view and was spacious with a large bay window and armchairs. The bed was very comfortable. The room was well equipped with an attention to detail, including a large fan. Good, powerful shower. The cooked breakfast was excellent as well as a large choice of fruit, cereal and pastries, etc. The terrace was relaxing on a summer evening for drinks.. We also had an enjoyable evening in the restaurant which had a lovely and warm atmosphere. Would definitely recommend and return.

There was nothing negative about the hotel but the town of Aberystwyth is very run down in many places and needs rejuvenation. However, all the locals we met were very welcoming and friendly and the pier was enjoyable.

The bar, restaurant and cleaning staff were all very friendly. The breakfast and restaurant meals were good value, well presented and filling. The room was basic but clean and comfortable. Extra tea/milk not a problem. Bay window overlooking sea, beautiful. Note 3rd floor rooms do not have bay windows. We would use Glengower again.

Parking was "on street" but that's a feature of a Victorian seaside hotel. We knew beforehand so not a problem. No lift. This is in the details so no surprise & staff offered to carry cases which was nice. Again, it's a Victorian hotel!

The hotel is on the "Sea front" towards the northern end of the esplanade and a few hundred metres away from the main drag where the revvy popping cars, noisy tourists, clubs and bars are situated. It has a raised veranda with tables at the front which was full of people eating and drinking in the sunshine when we arrived. We were able to park out 3 motorbikes directly outside the front door which was great as I had wrongfully thought thst they had parking which they don't. Technically the kerbline outsdide the hotel has parking restrictions but, as we were advised, the yellow line has worn away and not been repainted they cannot be enforced. The opposite side of the roadway does not have parking restrictions but didn't have any spaces when we arrived. We wre assured that the bikes would be OK there overnight and they were. My room was large, nicley decorated with a big bathroom and double wide shower cubicle, the shower of which worked excellently. I looked out over a flat room at the rear of the hotel to the street beyond which was a shame as I would have rathered a room to the front but, that said, my friend had a room to the front and as it got the sun all day was hot and he had to close his curtains to make it bearable and it stayed hot through the night. (winner winner!) £62.50 for bed and breakfast for such a great hotel was a proper bargain especially compared to the £85 we paid the following night for a very disappointing and overpriced B&B. After settling in we had a drink in the bar which was very reasonably priced and busy with eaters and drinkers, so a good sign before going out to meet the rest of the group for dinner. The next morning we had the usual full English brekky which was a decent size and came with unlimited extra toast and coffee top ups which I needed.

The treads on the stairs from the ground floor to the first floor are quite short so your feet tend to go over the edge on the way down or hit the riser on the way up, in either case be careful when carrying heavy bags to your room.

Sea view. Lovely. Small room but adequate, clean and pleasant. Good breakfast with all the cooked options plus fresh fruit etc. Pleasant staff. Excellent location. The bar had ‘real ale which was welcome…and quite unusual these days in hotels.

Parking is a nuisance. You have to be quick or lucky to get street parking. The nearest car park is £6 for 24 hours but is crowded plus NOBODY could make the machine work…there was a queue of disgruntled punters! Of course none of this is the fault of, the hotel but….just bear it in mind.
