In terms of the price, I knew it would be a little more as I had a pet with me, I just wasn't sure. Either way it was fine and good value for my piece of mind! As I was going to an agility comp with my dog the next day, I was up and out early, but managed to have a yummy freshly prepared breakfast which really set me up for the day! Amazing place and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it for those with and without pets!!!

We had the most relaxing and enjoyable stay! You can tell from the moment you step though the door that Steve and Joyce are focused on delivering a fabulous experience to their guests. You can see and taste the quality of the breakfast offerings and it’s such an added bonus that eggs are provided by their very own chickens. We dined in on our second night stay and opted for the 5 Course menu. Hands down the best meal myself and my husband have had in a very long time. The salad leaves from the garden was a nice touch. Our room was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Fresh milk in the fridge along with some bottled water was appreciated. Everything was spotless and good to see measures which were introduced due to Covid -19 remain as a good standard. The real stars of the show however were the welcome party - Murphy & Maggie (resident dog & cat) who I could have easily taken home! Can’t wait to visit again soon!

I've been looking for a place like this for a while now, a place where you can just relax, escape, enjoy the peace and quiet while being pampered. Blackwell House is just that and even more. Everything is perfect, from the décor to the food, the warm welcome and nice chats with Steve, even the cats and dog make us feel like we're at home and we enjoyed their visits a lot. The rooms are spectacular, we had everything we needed, from nice biscuits to q-tips. The garden is beyond gorgeous, with plenty of different spots to sit and relax. The food was delicious, fine-dining level if not more. It really feels like a haven and we cant wait to be back!

An absolute gem of a place. The house is beautiful, the garden a gorgeous oasis and the breakfast was as good as any 5 star hotel. We had the most amazing cheeseboard sitting in the garden one evening after a lovely hour spent in the hot tub. If you want to feel pampered and looked after by wonderful hosts, Blackwell House will not disappoint.

Everything about Blackwell House is fabulous. The award winning breakfasts are wonderful, made from really quality ingredients and big enough to keep you going all day! Our room was beautifully furnished and the bed was so comfortable. All the rooms look out into the garden or the countryside beyond and it's so incredibly peaceful and relaxing. You get the warmest of welcomes from Joyce and Steve and also their incredibly friendly cats and dog. Afternoon tea was a real treat with still warm home baked scones, jam and cream. We had the 5 course tasting dinner which I highly recommend as it was all delicious. I can't fault it so we look forward to going back.

Nothing could have been better

This Hotel is a hidden gem .As soon as you drive in the building oozes charm and character.We had the loft suite ,the rooms are luxurious and the bed provided one of the best nights sleep we’ve had in a long time maybe it was because ironed out the stresses of the week in our private hot tub overlooking the countryside.The hosts are naturally warm and friendly, attentive yet never intrusive. The breakfast was worth the trip on its own.prepared as you enjoy fresh wheaten bread in the company of Alfie the dog.Romantic hotel with a capital R Stuart & Diane

Amazing service. Before we even arrived, we got a call to check for food preferences and any other requests. At the hotel, everything was handled professionally and proactively by the friendly staff. The room itself was amazing - we stayed in the loft room, where the jacuzzi had a view over the nearby meadows. And the cats, dog and chickens were impeccably behaved too!

As I write this, I literally can’t think of anything that could have been better

We felt very lucky to come across this gem. We felt cosseted from the moment we stepped in the door. Quirky, luxurious decor. Glorious garden tended by Steve; wonderful meal prepared by Joyce.

Everything was great but I would caution you that, if you want dinner, you generally need to book in advance. And that dinner is a top range experience for a top range price. A real treat.

Absolutely everything about this stat was beyond perfect. Steve and Joyce were exceptional hosts also and their property exceeded all our expectations. The food, the setting , the ambiance and interiors of the house and most importantly the animals.. it was like a Christmas wonderland. We couldn’t recommend Blackwell house enough. Our stay here was most certainly the highlight of our Christmas, we cannot wait to return.

It was excellent! We - unfortunately - stayed for one night but we could definitely stay longer! The breakfast was excellent and beyond expectations. The hosts were wonderful and friendly. Highly recommend this!
