Great location with loads of character. The rooms were in character too. and very spacious. The menu in the restaurant was extensive and would fit all tastes. Did not check out whether there was a vegetarian or vegan options but there probably was. However the food we ordered was delicious, good potions and well worth the money. The area the hotel is located in has lots to do. Plenty of countryside or Cardiff is not that far. We enjoyed the stay, brief as it was, and hopefully will return for a longer stay.

Not much, but and it is the sign of the times, it looked short staffed and everything needs that bit more attention to detail. Sorry to clarify I mean when it comes to cleaning. To me it was obvious that the team are very stretched and time limited to complete their tasks.

Quiet location middle of nature. Evening meal was fine. Except coleslaw. We love classic architecture. Personell very helpful. Even despite details, we loved the stay.

Towels don't get changed during our 2 day stay. Coleslaw was due, despite I told servant, never got appologized or even compensated. Rooms are £115 pppn and breakfast £12,95 each. Coffee is not fresh.

Contrary to some of the negative comments, we had the cream tea which was as good as we have had anywhere. Super selection of cakes and sandwiches. Large pots of Coffee and tea. The room was very ‘Georgian’. Maybe a little tired but in a way it fitted perfectly with our feeling of stepping back in time. The room had two radiators and was super warm, lovely double four poster, comfy and clean. All in all we had an excellent stay, the restaurant food and service was faultless. Big shout out to friendly staff too. May not be a 5 star but we were looked after and felt welcome.

My stay was a very positive experience. I was remembered, from a wedding reception two years ago, by the receptionist and that is extremely flattering. The staff, though mostly young, were very attentive there was even a 'nine' (see the Troy/Rushton scale) on duty in the bar on Saturday evening The room, though paid for as a single, was a large double and extremely comfortable. A quiet comfortable place to stay that I highly recommend.

I have no negative things to say about this hotel.

The hotel is set in lovely mature grounds and the building itself provide lots of seating outside. The hotel inside has been refurbished in the restaurant and seating lounge next to it. My room was huge and was a family room. This area hadnt been refurbished but was homely and comfortable and what I noticed the most about the bedroom and bathroom is that it was very clean which is a major selling point, The hotel cares about the cleanliness. I ate in the restaurant and tried the chicken curry which I requested to be spiced up, The curry arrived with fresh chunky chips and basmati rice and a small naan. This curry was seriously good and one of the best I have eaten, Chicken was cooked perfectly, curry flavours were lovely, chips crunchy and rice perfect. Would recommend to anyone. The restaurant was really busy which created a great atmosphere. The location of the hotel was great as it is near to breathtaking views just a 5 minute drive away.

The greatest thing about this Hotel was the staff. I stayed 2 days and nothing was ever an issue. The bar staff were fantastic as were the receptionists! Beautiful location too :) 10/10

There is really nothing I didnt like - If I had to pick something it would have been the breakfast setup. It was a lovely breakfast but just didnt do justice compared to everything else.

Beautiful location, lovely building and grounds in a great location. Horses in field next to hotel was lovely to see. Reception staff were really friendly. Will definitely stay again, have recommended to family and friends.

Room was lovely, nicely furnished. It’s an attractive, friendly place and certainly good value. Would return.

Room was a bit cold even with two radiators fully on, they never seemed to warm up much. (It was -5° outside and it was an end room). Thought the evening meal menu was uninspiring and the breakfast even more so. The staff were great but the management need to sharpen it all up a bit: menu, “style”, lighting, breakfast arrangements.

Location , very peacefull , was made very welcome by the locals who used the bar allso. Staff , very helpful through out our stay & polite on arrival to check out , rooms are very clean to a very high standard, bed was very comfy . We are regular visitors to hirwaun as we have family there so will definitely be looking to book again on our next visit.

The room was a wonderful size. Clean and light and the bathroom was beautiful

We stayed 3 nights and sadly our bins were not emptied and we had no service to the room at all. We used all the milk and received no replacements
