Central location, lots of amenities nearby. Parking outside ok or in car park nearby. Kitchen fully equipped and handy fridge/freezer. Could you put a blind on the kitchen and bathroom window? Nice shower and bathroom although mould around silicone seal on shower tray and could have done with another towel rail.

Very dark up and down stairway before auto light sensor came on. Rope handrail not ideal coming up and down the stairs with luggage and fixings coming away from the wall in one place. Not enough clothes hanging facilities, needs a wardrobe or ar least a larger clothes rail than the one there, not enough for two people. A mirror in the main room would be nice plus a second bedside lamp. Couldn't understand why all the setup instructions for tv were in Spanish?? Heavier curtains would have been better. Thought £20 a bit much for bringing our small dog.

We'd stayed at James' Place before, in one of the bigger apartments, so we knew what to expect. The ground floor apartment was fine - some odd decoration (but we said that about the other flat), but it was neat and tidy and everything was functional. We'd stay again, especially as we know there is parking nearby and the area is fairly quiet. There is a supermarket 10 minutes walk from the flat (Asda), and some nice pubs not too far away.

A bit small for a longer stay, but it was fine for the couple of nights we were there. No oven and no dishwasher, also the hob only seemed to support one ring at a time.

Great place, well equipped, very clean. Location is great for walking in the Brecon Beacons, we were able to park right outside. Hosts are very helpful, they sent loads of info before we arrived, lots of suggestions for activities and places to eat out. Bed was comfortable and the trundle bed in the living room was very good too (we've stayed in plenty of places were the sofa bed is not great).

Just a couple of really minor things: The pillows - too big for me, two slimmer pillows would give more options. There were four of us staying in the studio but only 3 bar stools, so one of us had to stand for meals or sit on the sofa.

The room was lovely and warm. I brought extra blankets as I like to snuggle up and sometimes I find I can get cold during the night... this room was spot on. Cute little room/kitchen/living room in one. Lovely bathroom too. I first booked the room with the patio on the GF, however as I had to change my stay to one night only, I was given another room on the GF. Which was fine as the room with the patio is better for somebody who is staying two nights or more. No issue there. Also, my two ginger boys (Hungarian vizslas) were staying with me and there was enough room for their crate. Great location to Pen y Fan, 20 minutes drive. If you are traveling with a dog (s) make sure they are wee/poo trained and sleep throughout the night as there is no direct access to a garden/ open field area. If your puppy needs a wee in a middle of the night, you will have to get dressed, go out on the main road and into the car park. However, at the end of the car park, there is a great open area for the dogs, which is spot on. It's fenced off and big enough to do their business before you head to Pen y Fan. You can park right in front of the place, however it might take you a few "driving around" before a space is available. Also, you are not in a country side, you are next to a few take aways shops and local premier inn...

Sooo... As I am a light sleeper, I could not work out the noise.. i could hear this hummming noise... was it fridge? What was is it?! The only bad thing I can say about this place was the humming sound which I think came from the bathroom fan above the bed... not much sleep for me. Maybe there was a switch to turn it off? Don't be expecting views as such, hotel pub garden is in your view. Just close the curtains. However, it's a lovely little place.

Perfect for the walking weekend we wanted away. It’s close to the hills, easily accessible from the south east. The room set up was great. Shower worked well, fun clean decor. Room felt really clean Very fresh and well thought out - Amazing value for money and would use again.

This is only feedback to improve as I can see so much thoughts gone in to the place already. To go from a 9 to a 10 just few things would help. 1. More light in the room, even with the main light on we couldn’t see well. Perhaps a free standing light would help. 2. Some coat hanging pegs so the chairs done get covered in coats. 3. The doubles a small double which felt a little to small. A bigger bed would be a huge game changer. Merthyr is what it is - you know that when when your booking but the location for hill walks are great.

James' Place is very close to some beautiful walks and the recommended drive and pubs were wonderful! Absolutely stunning waterfalls. We were visiting family in the valleys so the property location was ideal. We didn't go into Merthyr tydvil too much, so I can't really comment on it. It seems very industrial and not at all pretty but there are lots of handy shops and the countryside close by is lovely. The staff we met were really lovely.

I wasn't keen on what I saw of Merthyr Tydfil but as I said previously it is close to gorgeous countryside and there were lots of shops from what I saw- to pick up grocery's and other bits and bobs. There are two or three takeaway places within a few years and a convenience store but we went to m&s for a bigger shop which was a short drive away.

Loved how dog friendly they were- when we got in there was a little mat with a dog food and water bowl, some treats and a roll of bags. Really helped me relax knowing that my pup wasn't just tolerated but was welcomed. Room was very nicely decorated and kitchen facilities were fab. They'd thought of everything- even supplied milk for that first cuppa! I also appreciated how flexible check in and check out were due to the self check in via key safe system.

The apartments have been cleaned. The kitchen contained everything a person needed to live. The bathroom also had everything you needed. The company also sent instructions for check-in in advance. A list of where to go and what to see in the area was also provided. The city centre was not far from the apartments (6 minutes by car or 20 minutes walk). There are a lot of restaurants and bars in the centre. Very nice apartments. There is parking behind the apartment. Very nice and responsive people. I recommend James' Place at Dowlais. Thank you very much 🌺.

I like everything.

We had a great stay at James' Place at Dowlais. There was everything we needed for 4 nights. It's not far from many attractions and walks. There are takeaways and a shop across the street. Before our arrival the hosts sent a lot of suggestions of where to go and what to visit, along with a long list of great places to have a meal or coffee and cake, which was super useful!

We really had a lovely stay; could not complain about anything :)

Nice touches: Welsh cakes and chocolate left out for arrival, milk left in fridge for tea/coffee, food and water bowl left out for dog with dog towel and poop bags provided. Chinese, Bangladesh, Pizza/kebab, Fish and Chips on High Street opposite and adjacent accommodation (we had both the Chinese and Bangladesh take away meals – excellent!). Convenience store opposite. Free car park and dog walking area behind property.

Freezer boxes need defrosting!
