Great location. Great service and comfortable room.

For the price of a 3 night stay I would expect not to pay for parking. I understand it’s in the centre of Durham, but I have stayed across Europe on a lot of city breaks and it the first time I have had to pay for parking. It’s needs to clearer when booking. I also thought the standard of breakfast was extremely poor, from cold eggs Benedict to stale croissants and waffles to under cooked disgusting bacon. I did complain but nothing came of it. This is my second stay here. Not sure I would book again. Your response would be welcome.

The hotel was well placed for ease of access to all tourist sights and amenities ie castle, cathedral, shopping, cafes and restaurants as well as local transport. This beautiful building has kept and perhaps enhanced it's original grandeur. My room was very comfortable, spotlessly clean and all facilities within well catered for. Breakfast was a plentiful affair ,well presented and a full selection to satisfy everyone. I dined one evening in the PMW restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful of my meal. The staff in all areas also deserve a special mention who were all extremely friendly and professional

Absolutely nothing.

Easy location for the city centre and excellent breakfast. Comfortable bed and pleasant staff. Very quiet.

There could have been some ryvita or crackers with the cheeses and meat at breakfast as the bread was lovely but a tad heavy. Shower left hand button jammed so difficult to switch shower off.. came and took a look but used overhead shower as reluctant to use wall shower. No central light in room so made it dark to read on the armchairs so a standard lamp would have been useful in providing sufficient light ... am 66 eyes aren't as good as they were...

I loved the location being close to the city centre without being inside the busy area especially on weekends. I loved how beautiful the place is, being the Old Shire Hall, where a lot of the vibe was preserved through architectural pieces. The check in was very pleasant and expedient, the decor was a mix of modern contemporary and touches of the original Baroque revival and old English. The corner suite was spacious with an amazing view of the Elvet church next door and the Durham Castle above the hills. I loved the wood floor, curtains and drapes, and the stone wall feature in the bathroom. It got very quiet at night and so beautiful in the morning when the sun peaks through the hills and trees. The rotunda style restaurant was also great especially the waffles with baked in maple syrup drizzle. The hotel was also nearby some really good restaurants including a Thai place around the back of the property.

I didn't like the bacon at breakfast but other than that I loved my time there. It would have been great if the room had a lower rate but considering the quality of the hotel and it's location, it's reasonable.

Excellent historical building in a great position to visit Durham.

A very basic evening meal. We both ordered the chicken and leek pie, which was fine. A pot of peas to accompany it, not even a knob of butter or sprig of mint to garnish. We had chips, the meal was quite dry, so asked for some gravy. We were served a beef gravy..with a chicken dish!!! The gravy granules were not even dissolved. We had breakfast the following morning, both eggs in the Eggs Benedict were hard boiled. A chicken and mushroom omelette had astrange texture which made it almost inedible. The Air Conditioning was very noisy, unable to open any windows.

Really nice hotel in a very convenient location for the centre of Durham. A short 10/15 min walk to the train station. The building itself is unique and has some unique historical features. Check in and out were swift and the staff were friendly. When I had to call reception to ask about something it was dealt with in a helpful and courteous manner.

There were a few very minor things (conditioner ran out after one use, no herbal teas as standard although they have them if you ask, hole in duvet cover) which would suggest housekeeping may be somewhat rushed. I don’t like to criticise too much as I don’t know if it’s a result of unrealistic time expectations on the part of management or not.

Such a beautiful building , my second stay here at the Indigo in Durham. No other hotel can compare with its internal structure - the rotunda bar is stunning with comfy seating and and a well stocked bar. Staff are all delightful and very friendly and helpful. My room was exceptional (226) very spacious and a fabulous bathroom. once I had worked out that you needed to leave your key in the room , it was nice and warm with a nespresso coffee machine and complimentary water and soft drinks in the fridge which were replenished every day.

This is a perfectly situated hotel for exploring Durham City and the surrounding area. The staff are very friendly and the breakfast is superb. It is a very characterful building and has some beautiful original features.

Our room was a Mansard room and the windows were in the ceiling which meant our view wasn't great. The blinds weren't working properly and the remote to move them had disappeared. Some very friendly staff tried hard to resolve the situation with a pole which was left for us to use.

I didn’t have the breakfast, but we enjoyed the decor and cleanliness of our room, it was very cozy. Lots of complimentary drinks & teas etc were available which we couldn’t get enough of - things were nice and organised and the wifi was brilliant

Our view from the room was of the back of the building so it was just a view of their dust bins outside but we didn’t really care about a view anyway. However the AC was unusable as it wouldn’t turn on or change at all regardless which button we pressed so it was very cold in the room. We were using the tv which was brilliant until it froze and wouldn’t work for about an hour or so even when we switched off the power to the room so not sure but overall we thoroughly enjoyed the hotel and will no doubt be back

Lovely hotel staff are absolutely amazing nothing too much trouble room was absolutely gorgeous unfortunately on the first night we had a problem with very noisy air con which was positioned on the wall next to our room so no escape night guy was great got us keys for another room along the corridor to get a sleep as this was about 1 in the morning anyway got some sleep lovely breakfast went to reception they moved us into another lovely room with a great view of the cathedral & also gave us free drinks vouchers for the inconvenience we had encountered

Liked everything but Marco Pierre White restaurant is slightly overpriced in my opinion but was nice to try it out & again staff were fantastic
