The friendliness of the staff and the excellent location.

I wouldn't say "didn't like" more so to enhance and score a 10 rather than a 9. We had dinner in the hotel and the starter and main, including the wine were excellent.. However, I had the whiskey and marmalade bread pudding and sadly it let the whole thing down as there wasn't a semblance of whiskey or orange taste at all. I did feedback this to the waitress as more constructive feedback rather than a complaint. I would have liked some response or comment to close the loop.. I also think the area designated as a residents lounge could be enhanced as it could be an area to offer residents a quieter place to get a drink away from the melhay in the main bar.

Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Helped bring luggage in and out of hotel. When I booked the room, I told Tracey that the visit was to celebrate my wife's and my wedding anniversary. We were bowled over when we discovered a complimentary bottle of Prosecco and a card from the hotel in our room. That made a big difference to our stay. Thermos with milk instead of the usual little containers for the room. Beautifully appointed room, comfortable bed, beautiful bathroom. Lovely biscuits, coffee, tea and hot chocolate provided. Food was excellent and precisely described, even down to the number of calories! In short, we had a wonderful time, and hope to return.

Very pleased with well-appointed room, with very comfy bed and excellent coffee/tea making facilities. Small but very well-appointed bathroom with shower. Very quick check-in and check-out. Guest car park to rear of hotel. Hugely enjoyed our breakfasts, included in price. Had a good evening meal in their restaurant.

This is my pet hate. The bar (the place is a pub) has piped music, which is fine. It also has TV screens permanently tuned to Sky Sports with sound turned down, playing random events watched by nobody but which, infuriatingly, continually catch the eye. Fine if there's an important match on, but very annoying otherwise, especially since it's difficult to sit with the TVs out of view since someone else has already snaffled these seats. Fortunately there are TV-free alternatives only a few steps away in the village.

I really like the fact you can get of the bus and be right outside the hotel, staff were friendly and welcoming which was greatly appreciated after a stressful journey up. The room itself was neat and tidy and almost felt like you were staying in a traditional B&B not a hotel. The bed was very comfortable and I had a great night's sleep in it. The ensuite was again clean and very modern compared to the rest of the room but it didn't clash with it. The full English I had was well cooked and delicious and I'd definitely recommend the place to family and friends if they're staying in the area. Thank you guys for a lovely stay and hope to return in the near future

As I have Coeliac disease they sorted out my diet well and had good knowledge of Coeliac disease the breakfast was excellent freshly cooked and served to our table by lovely young efficient waiting staff with only a short wait This Hotel has the nicest reception staff giving us good local knowledge

The room was nice clean and a good supply of toiletries what I didn't like there was a step down on entering the room which we informed us of with a notice on the outside door the ceiling was low in places so caution was needed to ensure you didn't bump your head there was also a warning of this the room

This is a great hotel, staff were excellent always a smile on their face and couldnt do enough for you. The food was tremendous from breakfast to evening meal, service was quick and efficient. The room was large and spotless with lots of little surprises, massive comfortable bed and the bathroom with both bath and shower was a lovely size and with storage drawers under the wash basin was excellent. A lot of thought has gone into the layout and furnishing of the rooms, so well done The Feathers best hotel I've been in yet, you've made two people very happy. Thank you.

The parking in Helmsley is not very good for the Hotels who supply customers for the town.

Exceeded our expectations. Great value for money. Expected a basic room but were impressed how big and nice the room was, with a really modern bathroom. Was really pleasantly surprised by all the little touches, they left a little welcome gift for our dog- so nice that it’s so dog friendly. There was also fresh milk given in a flask, robes, and bottled water and snacks so felt like they had put a lot of effort into the room. All staff members were very happy and friendly, and breakfast was perfect! Great options and perfectly cooked poached eggs. Also had dinner in the restaurant and the food was lovely

Decor in corridors was lovely, fun to look at the pictures of birds. Room was a great size and had everything that you could need. Lots of plugs. Fan in room for if it was needed. Coffee choice was great and varied. Bed big and comfortable.

The corridor door closer outside number 14 needs attention. Door banged every time someone came through. Was put in the small room for eating, which was the room they used for people with dogs. Sorry but I do not enjoy eating my breakfast with a dog snotting and slobbering all over the place, and being fed sausage on the carpet. This spoiled our breakfast experience, shame because food quality was good.

The room was very luxurious, spacious, and comfortable. And it was quiet. The shower was fantastic, and it was very nice to have Divine chocolate bars as an extra treat. I liked the outer lobby area of the room to make it feel really roomy.

I dislike strong Yorkshire tea, and only drink Early Grey. I was surprised there was no Early Grey tea bags in the room, as it's the second most popular tea in the UK. The service was a bit poor at dinner, and we were going to have pudding, but they forgot us and we eventually just left without the final course The car park was a muddle, with the drive being dug up when we left and the workmen furious that guests were leaving as they dug a hole. Apparently a miscommunication between them and the manager

Location is excellent. Plenty of choice at breakfast. Evening meal was also excellent. All staff helpful and accommodating. The beds and pillows comfortable. Although the room was snug it had all that we needed. Complimentary toiletries were of good quality and plentiful. Even a proper iron and ironing board. Biscuits refreshed every day. What's not too like

The only downside was our room no 5 was over the atrium and was quite noisy with a large party of people however we are early to bed people and it went quiet by 11.30 pm
