The outdoor pool was lovely...quiet and clean. I also was allocated a suite which was a bonus! The hotel is in a lovely location and must be one of the best in area. Its expensive but is a real treat.

Staff service not top notch. Forgetful. Also had a 5% service charge added to the bill ...was only told that this was discretionary when I challenged it. In view of service from staff being part of the deal when staying at any hotel, and that the staff, although very pleasant were not that good, I don't see why this should be added.

On arrival I was surprised to learn that I had been chosen to have an upgrade from an original classic room to a suite which included a seperate sitting room bathroom and sizeable bedroom. Contrary to all negative reviews on this site about the Faversham Arms I counter this by saying that nothing could be further from the truth. The bedroom was well appointed with plenty of plug points in each room, especially needed when I use a nebuliser. Each room had at least two wall surfaced lights either controlling the main light or a wall light. The room was facing the churchyard (room 30) and it was quiet, accessible by stairs or lift. Breakfast each morning was held in a beautiful eating area called The Atrium which sits to the left of the well maintained outdoor pool. If there is a criticism, breakfast is not pre booked so you could find that you arrive as the breakfast area is busy. In such situations be patient. The hotel won't run out of food as all cooked food is made to order and is delicious. In fact it is the main meal of the day and there is no scrimping, plentiful and filling. In fact, on our last day my wife and I ordered a chicken salad BLT. It was probably one of the best tasted with whole chicken breast served on a bed of salad, tomatoes, bacon and a mayonnaise. At the same time a load of chips/french fries. This was so filling my wife and I should have shared 1 instead of buying 2. Thoroughly enjoyed. It was a restful, peaceful and romantic 3 day break from the humdrum of everyday living and a haven for a thoroughly enjoyable holiday. So much so I am planning on my next visit in a chocolate box location.

Nothing to criticise the hotel, staff or location.

Friendly staff ,lovely food ,ambience. Spa staff - teegan was lovely and did a very relaxing facial ( so much so I feel asleep)

Pool needs more regular cleaning and inspection. We were not informed on booking that there was a carpark under the spa for us to use . Our room had faulty light switches , curtains need hanging back up in places, our shower sprayed out of the cubical drenching the floor , but didnt spoil our stay , room needs a maintenance check , toilet and taps bit dripping ,other than that lovely room . Staff need to be more informative when it comes to what you get on half board experience rather than us having to ask ..

The staff were amazing- we had a complementary upgrade. Its a relatively small hotel quite, peaceful and loved the "at home but feeling abroad" vibe. We had good weather. The spa is clean and everything appeared accessible. Staff could not do enough for you, drinks by the pool and appeared to help with any request. This hotel is genuinely dog friendly unlike some hotels which say they are but turn out to be far from. Only place dog could not go was main dining room but noted that they even set a table outside for a couple who wanted to dine with their dog at breakfast. Great location for town and Helmsley wall garden- all five min walking distance. Another thing we liked about this hotel, they don't rip you off re price of bar drinks. Meals possibly a little more expensive but we bought drinks there and they were cheaper than some of the restaurants we went to during our stay. Their room service menu also very competitive in price.

They do a good vegetarian breakfast, I'm unsure if they had an extensive vegan / veg restaurant menu. However, food we did have at breakfast was excellent.

Nice big comfortable bed and comfortable room. Great breakfast with a good choice of menu. Enjoyed the jacuzzi, steam and saunas.

We didn’t have an introduction to the spa facilities and the treatments available, nor were we told when the opening/ closing times were, we had to keep asking. We arrived back at the hotel at 7pm to find the facilities closed we were expecting to spend the evening in the pool and jacuzzi. We had a meal in the restaurant and while the food was good it was very expensive and the dishes weren’t itemised price wise. The duck came out cold and had to be sent back. While it was a high end restaurant it was let down by badly stained carpet.

lovely boutique hotel in the heart of the town.staff very friendly and attentive.breakfast choices great and tasted superb.we got an upgrade which was amazing and the suites are huge.

bed was too firm and the window glasing wouldn’t completely close so traffic noise.hot tub full constantly on our first day and the following day out of order, the floor extremely slippery in the spa area normally spa floors are heated so they don’t get this problem and you have to go outside to get to to drinks and no where to sit inside to chill out if in wet clothing not great in winter.no long mirror or mini bar / fridge for water found this strange.

Lovely location in a pretty village. On site parking useful. Outdoor pool a definate plus. Staff upgraded us to a larger room on arrival which was great.

The breakfast could have been better. We were very specific with our reguirements and asked for well done bacon and slightly runny scrambled egg. Not a huge deal but both arrived the exact opposite - the bacon was quite fatty and under cooked, egg really over cooked and not edible. The shower could have been better too, just quite a basic

Very welcoming hotel, the staff throughout were great and extremely polite and helpful. Location of the hotel is perfect in relation to everything in the village. We had use of the spa which was good and well maintained. Hot tub is outside and not undercover which we found a bit odd and it was raining which didn't make it too inviting- would imagine it is great in summer. Restaurant and bar area are excellent, nice cosy fire in the bar, very well presented restaurant and the evening meal was amazing. Breakfast the morning after equally as good. The room was well laid out, we had a suite overlooking the pool with a balcony. If i were to be critical it would be that the rooms are probably in need of a refurb now and particularly the bathroom was well worn - time to reinvest the money! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, a great hotel and a great village

Nothing in the room to tell you how to order room service Bathroom in need of a refurb, just looks a little tired and wouldn't say it is reflective of the room rate

Pool , room and staff excellent

Originally given a two storey room over looking the pool which was beautiful but there was no stair gate to stop toddler so asked and they happily moved us to a room on one level which felt safer . Also wasn’t aware we could order room service for dinner so booked restaurant on arrival . In future we would use room service with having a young toddler with us , but restaurant staff were lovely and attentive

Ideally situated first class hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Facilities excellent and the "set" dinner was very good, as was breakfast. We were allowed to park early and drop off our case at reception before checking in to our room later in the day. This was much appreciated. Although more expensive than other properties in the area, we would definitely use again; but probably as a special occasion!

Nothing.
